AMR sent a bill to an incorrect mailing address for a service processed in 2020. There was no further communication, until we learned that the debt had gone to collections ($739) during a credit check. I contacted the collections agency in December 2024 to submit a request for documentation, but AMR has not responded to the request and are unreachable via phone. My insurance has indicated willingness to cover the expense under the 2020 claim, but they require the documentation.Business response

Dear Better Business Bureau:
Thank you for taking the time to contact our office with the consumers concerns. American Medical Response (AMR) values our customers and strives to provide quality **********************.
AMR contacted the consumer by phone and discussed the account. Invoices were being sent to the mailing address obtained at the time of service. As a result, the consumer did not receive invoices, and the account defaulted to collections. At this time, we have corrected the consumers mailing address and have cancelled this debt from collections. Due to the age of the account, we are past timely filing limits and have written off the total charge. The consumer is no longer responsible for payment. We would like to thank the consumer for bringing their concerns to our attention and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I am not sure what this company is or why the have contracted another shady company for collection on a debt that is not mine nor do I have knowledge of. This company has never contacted me for any reason but I was alerted that this company filed collections on my credit report and as I have never been sent to collections I was and still am confused. If I ever used this company which I am certain I have not I am covered by New Mexico state heath insurance having zero copay for any medical procedure so any medical provider is paid in full no matter what and I have had that in place 10 years without interruption therefore this has to be fraud. Also the company that you hired to do your collections is the worst I have ever seen. you need to find better immediately as well as take the negative mark off my credit report immediately since it violates the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act 15 U.S.C 1692. not sure the account number the collections agency refused to give any information to me so i got what i could from the ***********************Business response

I was taken my AMR from a hospital in *********** to one in spoken **. i had zero choice in this matter as at the time i had a broken arm near the wrist and they where the only way to get the surgery needed. I have twice tried to get them to charge my medical insurance and twice they have done nothing. once through their website and once through phone call. Looking at my insurance they have not tried to charge them as there are no pending claims or denied claims from them, but they are still trying to charge me over 4 thousand dollars and threatening to take it to their collections. All i want is for them to charge my insurance.Business response

On January 10th 2025, a company hired by. American Medical Response called Ability Recovery Service, reported to TransUnion Credit Service that I owed American Medical Response through ability recovery service $1,376. First of all, I have no idea what this is. I do not recognize either of the company names and it is listed as a charge off but also listed as a derogatory account but I have no record over the last *************************************************************************************** *************, ******** or **************. This report on my credit has damaged my credit score and if I actually owe anyone money this would be for something that happened at least 8 to 10 years ago, since I did go through a period of time when ******** in ******* reported losing my records for about 5 months within their computer system because of some sort of renovations to their state system. That was years ago and I subsequently moved first to ******** and then to ************** while spending some time in between traveling in ************* for work. In any case I do not recognize this bill or whatever they're referring to as a charge-off. I'm not even sure this is for medical or anything related to Medical, however, the original company name is showing as American Medical Response. I can only assume that if I actually incurred a charge years ago, it would have been during the time that ******** lost my information. I filed a claim with the state of Arizona regarding their loss of my records in the state computers, they miraculously found my information after I submitted a claim to the attorney general. I have no problem pursuing this credit report error with the Attorney General of ************** where I currently reside if the BBB cannot resolve. You will note there is no account information listed on the attached report made to ********** , there is also no detail about the charge on any . They did not not provide complete data because they do not have it.Customer response

I would prefer to deal with this company and its debt collection company through written BBB communication since they have no accurate info on what I supposedly purchased from them, when or where.
I look forward to hearing any response from them (eventually) since my credit has fallen from good to fair and I may also go to my state AG if they don't respond soon. Taking advantage of a senior fighting stage 4 cancer with no evidence is low.
Thank you for your help,

Complaint: 22809585
I am rejecting this response because:The business has made it clear in three voicemails and in their answer to the BBB that they do not have any information about my doing business with them and yet they have reported me to a debt collection company who has posted the debt on my credit report. Given how this has affected my credit already, and the fact that this is a medical related billing and according to the ********************************************* that is no longer to be applied to the credit reports of Americans, I request the company admit that they have no record of this charge and apologize for sending me to a debt collection company, or for confusing me with a different consumer. There is no record that they can find of my ever having an account with them and until they saw the BBB complaint they did not have even my phone number. They have left three voicemail messages for me requesting information about me because they have none.
In order to reverse the effect to my credit score as soon as possible, I demand that the business admit it's mistake, apologize, and remove the debt from my credit report immediately. I do not wish to give the company more time to keep calling me trying to get me to explain to them why they think I owe them money. I have no idea why they think I owe them money and as a senior, I deserve better treatment than this. Thank you.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me, in particular I am thankful that the business admitted that they "possibly identified the account in question" indicating that they are not confident they have the right consumer. Further, their comment, "At this time, the account has been removed from debt collections" and explaining that I should no longer be contacted is something I will hold the company and their debt collection service to. The way that their response was worded has the veiled implication that they might attempt to place a debt collection again without any proof. If that should occur I will reopen a claim, however, at the moment I am satisfied with the removal of the debt collection on my credit bureau report. Thank you,Sincerely,

An AMR patient transport service was ordered for my daughter for transport to a specialty hospital in June of last year. They are currently trying to bill my daughter in the amount of $1,131.18 for this service that Sentara already reimbursed AMR for. We have confirmed with the health insurance carrier Sentara (formally Optima) that AMR is a registered network vendor with ******* since 2015. We have also confirmed with Sentara that AMR has already been paid in full for this claim. They have sent her two invoice requests to date which include notices of collection if not paid by invoice due date. After talking with Sentara, it appears they are very familiar with this vendor who has a habit of billing the patient the cost difference between their approved negotiated fee and the regular fee they charge for out of network claims. As a sidenote, Sentara has been very helpful in sorting out this invoicing confusion. This is clearly patient harassment, and I am asking BBB to step in to stop this fraudulent invoicing to my daughter. Regards, *** ****Business response
