I have repeatedly received harassing phone calls, voicemail messages, and emails stating that I have not paid a $30 bill from an appointment I had with a nurse practitioner on May 19, 2023. This bill was paid and the check was cashed back in July. The first phone calls came only days after I had my appointment. The insurance company did not even have an opportunity to pay their portion before the harassment began. Insurance paid $140 on May 30, 2023. The *** Medical Faculty Associates Billing office sent a bill for the remaining $30 to a mis-typed email address. I called and had that administrative error corrected after receiving yet another harassing phone call. The bill was paid in late June and cashed on July 3, 2023 (check number ****). I sent proof of payment on August 16, 2023 to the billing resolution email posted on the *** Medical Faculty Associate website. I have followed up twice on August 20 and 29, 2023. No one has replied and I am still receiving harassing phone calls, emails, and paper bills. I finally reached out to my Doctor to beg for her help in resolving this issue. She was unhappy with the situation and is trying to apply pressure on her end. The saddest part of this whole thing is that I had to set up the appointment with the nurse practitioner because *** Medical Faculty Associate failed to send records of my medical tests to my primary care physician. In fact, my primary care physician said that he always has problems receiving medical records from *** Medical Faculty Associates. While I have been going to several of my doctors at *** for decades, I am seriously considering finding new doctors so I do not have to endure any further harassment for completely unjustified reasons.Initial Complaint

On Jan 4, 2023, I received a bill for $500 from the Medical Faculty Associates of *** for services rendered on Mar 15, 2022. I had written a check (#****) in that amount to MFA on that same day and handed it in person to MFA staff. Subsequently, on Jun 1, 2022, the $500 charge was posted to (deduct from) my **** of ******* (****) account. So the bill for the same amount sent me on January of this year was a complete surprise. I made many phone calls about this to MFA (their Billing office), of which MFA certainly has extensive records. I was never able to meet with MFA Billing personnel in person. I met many times with bankers at my Capitol Hill branch of ****. All of this is documented in the attachments which I expect to upload with this complaint. Finally, on or about May 31 of this year MFA told me that they were closing the matter and my disputing of it and sending it on to their internal collection arm, ** ***. At his point I decided that ******** dictated that I should pay the $500 once again, this time by my **************** credit card, since I was concerned about harming my credit rating. *********** told me they could do nothing further for me, except that I could send them a summary of my history of the dispute by email, which I did, and which will be attached. Meanwhile I was pursuing the matter with **** bankers. But while sympathetic, and since they had never received any notification from MFA or their bank, ***** ****, that my check had been returned, and it was too late to stop the check going through, they said they were powerless to help, and were prevented by regulations from contacting MFA. I elevated the matter to the **** Market Leader, *******************. ************ told me on the phone that my best course would to be to pursue a BBB complaint. Thus I am writing to you.*****************Initial Complaint

I was double billed for my annual mammogram on March 2, 2022. Mammogram took place at *********************, but the technician was from ** *******. ****** removed the erroneous bill. GW has failed to close the transaction out and has continued to bill me. I have called every single month to try and resolve the issue. I have also formally emailed and documented the issue twice. They assured me this would not go to collections while they worked to fix the error. They however, also lied about that and sent me to collections. I have now filed a formal complaint and issue with the collections agency and they have sent the bill back to GW. The incompetence in ****** ****************** is incredible. They have trapped me with an incorrect bill. I cannot imagine I am the only one suffering these types of issues with GW.Initial Complaint

Earlier this year I called the ****************** at GW MFA to schedule an appointment for a dermatofibroma removal. I know that this is a dermatofibroma as I was previously diagnosed with it by a previous dermatologist office and I am also a physician myself. I scheduled this appointment via phone and specifically requested a physician to help me deal with this one specific issue. Instead they scheduled me with a physician who could not help me, looked at it for 1 second, confirmed it is a dermatofibroma and then promptly told me she does not treat this issue. She then stated I could get a call from another physician for a consultation to actually fix the issue. I 100% would not have attended this appointment if I had known it would be a waste of time and $200. No one told me that the physician I was with does not deal with this issue when I made the appointment. She herself even said she felt bad I was at this appointment for basically no reason. I do not have the superfluous funds to be paying approximately $200 for a phone number and 0 help from the physician I saw. I feel that this is an unethical practice that simply makes the patient pay money for literally nothing. No one explained to me prior to the appointment that I would simply be getting a referral or I would not have gone. I called the billing office to rectify this issue but heard nothing back from them and then was sent to collections for this bill.Initial Complaint

It's straightforward - after 1 year of trying to get me to pay $1000 that I did not owe them, which I finally got resolved in January of this year, MFA Is now not responding to my requests to give me my own medical records. I mailed an authorization as instructed and have followed up by phone multiple times, leaving 3 voice mails, with no response. I need my records from my last childbirth and am currently 32 weeks pregnant with my next child. My new doctor needs my records and MFA is not allowed to withhold them. My current treatment is being compromised because my current doctor does not have my medical history that I have been trying to obtain for months. Based on my past experiences with MFA, I am starting with BBB, then I will move to a complaint with ***, and then I will go to court. This is atrocious and I am tired of it. Not only did I leave the practice a year and a half ago, but the practice of doctors even left the MFA chain because of its horrific administration.Customer response
