I dropped my car to Moppert body shop on 9/5/24 per my insurance company. The estimator from progressive (insurance company) went out on 9/11/24 to do an estimate on the repairs of the car. On 9/12/24, I received a call from the estimator that Moppert has refused to negotiate their rates and hence I would incur out of pocket expense if my car were to be repaired at this location. I called Moppert to take my car back on 9/12/24 and they informed me that while I can take my car, I will incur a $350 per day storage fee in addition to other taxes and fees for a total of ~$4300. My insurance company stated that they would not pay these fees as the car was repairable and not totaled. I asked mopert if I can fix certain parts of the car which they said no to and informed me they must fix it all or none. In the end they said I can pay $2000 and take my car. My insurance wrote a check to them as moppert demanded payment in cashiers check or cash. They did not provide a notice to me at drop off that they are not in network with progressive, I would incur storage fees so high if I didnt repair my car there after leaving it there, or that they dont take credit card. I believe they are trying to just make money out of this situation and caused me a lot of stress in this process. I will now be liable to payback progressive either part of the full $2000 they paid on my behalf that I never should have paid for. Moppert auto collision: 302-453-2900. Business response

Ms. ******s insurance company Progressive called our shop to schedule drop off.  Progressive is aware that we are a Mercedes Certified Repair Facility.  When Ms. ***** presented to drop off her vehicle she was presented the three forms that she executed.  She was informed to read and execute these forms.  The last form explicitly states that costs included but are not limited to per day expenses, parts, labor rates, taxes, insurance, and fuel.  I immediately e-mailed Progressive to let them know that Ms. ***** had dropped off and received the reply that Progressive was scheduled to view the vehicle Friday, September 6, 2024.  Progressive did not present that Friday but did present Monday, September 9, 2024.  I did not receive the estimate until the following day.  Ms. ***** called regarding the out of pocket, I explained that there is no way to pinpoint the exact out of pocket because we had not performed a tear down and neither Progressive nor our facility knew the extent of the damage, also after-market parts that Progressive wrote for could be unavailable which then Progressive will pay for the OEM part when we provide a no-quote code from the original Non-OEM vendor, etc...  I gave her the out of pocket per the estimate and she decided to move her vehicle and not have it repaired at our facility.  I presented Progressive and Ms. ***** with a tow out bill of $3,900.00.  When Progressive stated that Ms. ***** would have to pay that invoice, we negotiated with Progressive to $2,000.00.  I have attached the e-mail from Progressive stating that they would be out Friday, the e-mail with the Estimate of repair, the negotiated storage bill, and a photo of our posted storage rates that sit on the front counter of our facility.
