I was a customer with ********************************************* for more than 6 years with no claims filed. I paid on time on a quarterly fashion and unfortunately on the last quarter on October 2024, I did not receive a reminder to pay my bill and they canceled me immediately on November 29th, when I realized my payment was not sent I called them immediately/ my agent called them as well and they would not reinstate me as of December 10th when we called. They now want to double my premiums if I reinsure with them even though again I have never had any claims with this insurance company and have always paid on time. This surely feels like insurance company -premium gouging and should be illegal. I spoke again today to someone at the company customer service and again they told me they would not reinstate me.Florida Peninsula Insurance Company Response

We appreciate the opportunity to address the concern regarding the policy reinstatement request. At Florida Peninsula Insurance Company we are committed to providing clear communication and fair service to all our customers. Below are the facts regarding this matter:
1. The insureds policy was originally invoiced on September 16, 2024, with a payment due date of October 1, 2024. No payment was received by the due date.
2. A second invoice was issued on October 17, 2024, with a due date of November 1, 2024. Again, no payment was received.
3. A Pending Cancellation Notice was sent on November 14, 2024, informing the insured that if payment was not received by November 29, 2024, the policy would expire. Unfortunately, no payment was received.
4. As a result, the policy was cancelled on November 29, 2024, and a Confirmation of Cancellation was issued the same day.
Additionally, the insured is enrolled in our Green Solutions program and receives email notifications regarding billing and policy status updates.
The insured later requested reinstatement; however, the policy had been cancelled for an extended period, making reinstatement ineligible per our policy guidelines. While we understand the insureds frustration, our procedures are in place to ensure consistency and fairness for all policyholders.Review from Michelle J

Do not under any circumstances deal with this insurance company. I had a claim from October 9, the adjuster came out and left half of the stuff out that I pointed out to him so I had to file a supplemental claim for everything that he missed, submitting receipts, pictures and quotes. It took them months to go through the supplement. I had moved at this point and taken a $20,000 loss on my house because of damages from hurricane ******. I called Florida Peninsula weekly to see the status of my claim. No help from anybody they act nice on the phone, but theyre not helpful. Then I called to tell them I had moved and gave them my new mailing address. Several weeks later and adjuster calls and says theyre sending me several checks and theyve already mailed them. They mailed them to the old address.I said I changed my address with you. You need to stop payment on those checks and re-issue to my new address. Its been another month, more excuses from Florida Peninsula about how I needed to have my insurance agent fax them that I had moved. They did that, I still dont have my money. Now, almost 4 months after the claim, *** had to pay interest on credit cards to fix the damages. The things I couldnt fix, I just took a loss on it when I sold my house because of their incompetence. Now when I try to look up my claim everything is canceled online. I cant get anybody on the phone and my insurance agent keeps calling them. Still no money from them. So now Im having to file complaints with The Florida office of insurance regulation. A claim should be paid within 90 days. Even thats too long for many people that dont have the money to float. A tornado struck my house in ********* years ago and I had Allstate, they were fantastic. I thought I was buying ******** because I called an Allstate insurance company in Stuart *********************** but they sold me this Horrible policy instead.Review from Lawrence S

I was issued a quote for homeowners insurance but when the policy was issued it was much more expensive. I was told that the reason was a lapse in my previous policy (3 days). I submitted a 4-point inspection and was told weeks later that I had to fix a leaky hose bib and exposed electrical. The so-called exposed electrical was an old bit of conduit that was disconnected and had no power. I fixed these issues but then I was told they had to have proof that the work was done by licensed contractors. I then spent hundreds of dollars to have work done that I could have done myself for less than $50. I was about to submit proof of repairs as I had been told by the agent (Family First Insurance) that this proof would prevent cancellation if submitted before June 9th. I would have everything done and submitted by June 6th, but I received a letter in the evening of June 5th that I could not get the cancellation rescinded and to contact my agent to look for other insurance. All of this was made worse because I could not communicate directly with Florida Peninsula. All communication had to go through my agent which slowed everything down. I will no longer try to keep this insurance or Agent.Florida Peninsula Insurance Company Response

We require repairs are made from a licensed contractor. The insured did provide proof of the repairs and the policy has been reinstated without any lapse in coverage. A reinstatement letter was sent to the insured on June 6th.Review from Todd S

Florida Peninsula just sent us a notice of non-renewal by mail. How impersonal and spineless not to contact us directly about this. Have never had an insurance claim, they happily took our money and are now running away. I say good ridence and I can guarantee I won't be doing business with FPI ever again.Review from CYNTHIA W

Like most of SW Florida, we were hit by Hurricane *** in September 2022. since then we have been hitting nothing but roadblocks and denials from Florida Peninsula Insurance. We have supplied all information requested by them and still have not received most of our claim payments. In particular our condominium loss of use claim was denied even though we have ***** dollars of coverage. Our building has had the certificate of occupancy removed since September 2022.We have been renting ever since in SW Florida. My mother who is 96 years old and sister who is her care giver are at their **** end.The communication from Florida Peninsula has been terrible . Stay away from this Insurance company. They gladly take your premiums and do not pay when you need it.Florida Peninsula Insurance Company Response

We are unable to locate a claim in our files with the name, email, and zip code provided with this review. We would appreciate more specific information such as the insureds name, email address used on the claim, or loss address so we may investigate these concerns further. Thank you.Review from Dean L

Like most of SW Florida, we were hit hard by Hurricane Ian in September 2022. We had Florida Peninsula since our house was built in 2011 and have paid our premiums on time and in full. Of course, when we actually filed a real claim, Florida Peninsula felt that everything was under the deductible and paid nothing except for $500 for refrigerator contents. And then they illegally proceeded to drop us and we can't find coverage because house repairs that they paid nothing for have not been completed yet, like most of Fort Myers. I would recommend Florida Peninsula to anyone who likes to throw away money.Review from Magdalena T

After paying you over $5.800 a year for six years and never filing a claim even after hurricane ***, living on a canal in ********** ,SWFL you all know we were a direct hit. I prepared my house and did what I could after. Almost filed a claim for *******, but as it was only six months old, so it was insured by Craftsman Roofing. (Florida Pen. told me any damage was from Hurricane **** in September 2017, five years before the roof was put on. Check building permits? No, make the client go away.)When you insure an antique, you will pay a lot. If you have a claim, it is 200 years of wear and tare.Review from Glenn B

My parents have this company, so not impressed! They don't call back or acknowledge your emails. Sorry, a BOT telling me they received my email means nothing. Guess who isn't renewing the policy this year?Review from John b

More like Florida Peninsula FRAUD Co. I called the day after the hurricane, It took over two weeks to get an adjuster to look at my damages. He never showed and called me after the appointment time to say he had car trouble. He finally made it a week later. I have damages that caused roof leakage, making the ceiling in my living area fall in. Leaking that caused water damages to my pantry. The soffit over my front door is severely damaged. The claim was processed OVER a month later.. and DENIED. I was told it is all water damage and since I don't have flood insurance they won't pay anything. WHAT!! This is hurricane damages. My roof NEVER leaked until hurricane ***, yet the adjuster said this was NOT caused by the hurricane. REALLY? The female I spoke to on the phone was trite and rude. Said unless I get a specific type of insurance they don't pay. She said, 'your policy is over 70 pages and states that this is not something we pay for." I NEVER received a 70 page document! So, this company is collecting my two grand a year... for what again? Now I am stuck, I can't engage another carrier unless the damages are repaired, and I can't afford to have them done. What a shameful way to do business. I am a 72 year old disabled veteran, and now living in substandard home, because I can't afford to leave. Thanks for NOTHING Florida Peninsula Insurance.
