Looks like this is the place to complain! We rented from them over Christmas and new year 2024. And it was excellent. We had asked for a Christmas tree and they delivered and set it up for us. Our experience was nothing short of 5 star.Review from Peter R.

Roelens Vacation Rentals slogan should be "PROFIT OVER PEOPLE"... My family and I had a wonderful experience with Roelens Vacation Rentals back in February 2024. The rental home was clean and beautiful, and the hospitality was exceptional. I recommended it to many people because of our positive experience, and we decided to re-book for this fall. However, with Hurricane Helene and Milton impacting Florida, we felt it was best to cancel our trip. We submitted our cancellation request weeks before and were told that we wouldn’t receive a refund. The response stated, "Refunds are not given for unmet expectations, weather, natural disasters, personal, or any other related reasons". I understand that companies need policies to minimize cancellations, but a hurricane affecting the entire state should be an exception. It’s disheartening to see a company prioritize PROFIT over the safety and well-being of its customers. As a result, I can no longer support this company.Review from Grace B

The BBB seems to be a place that people come to complain. My family stayed in a Roelens home and we actually really enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly and called 3 days before we arrived to give us recommendations to go to. The house was lovely and checkout was easy. We will be returning next yearReview from Dominique S

We found a rental home from Roelens Vacations online and considered renting it. We made a reservation and received the rental agreement. After reviewing the agreement we found some rules and regulations we absolutely disagreed with, so we informed Roelens Rentals about our decision not to sign the rental agreement. Without our consent and signature Roelens Vacation charged the whole amount on the credit card. The next day they refunded most of the money but we lost almost $600,- with the unlawful transfer just because of the fee they charged for absolutely no reason and the exchange rate. We reached out to them several times but without finding a solution. They were only quick in collecting money, not in solving problems! We absolutely CANNOT recommend this agency. Right now we even consider of taking legal action in this case.Review from Jennifer L.

1- FILTHY, our socks/feet were filthy after 1 afternoon. Dust hanging from the ceiling fans. We bought a Swiffer duster, as the steam mop cover hadnt been washed in weeks. I washed the steam mop and then steamed the floors. The mop head was gross after the first day- it went from white to gray/brown; the cleaners don't clean the floors. Grout=super dirty. Baseboards hadn't been dusted in months; there was dog hair on them from a prev. renter. The mstr **** smells like urine like it hasn't been cleaned at all.2- There is a leak somewhere, as the bdrms have a musty/moldy smell; its the worst rental weve had in Florida over the last 4-5 years.3- Towels=threadbare, gross, and so small- cant even wrap a kid. There was a dark smear of ?? on a towel and what looked like Cheeto dust on others. I imm. washed all the ******************* because we were sure they weren't ever washed. I bought thicker towels. The bedding is super thin also; I bought blankets, and ****** said we should get a refund, but that was over a week ago.4- Roelens texted 1st day to see how the first night was. I told them our concerns and a boilerplate response of we will contact the house caretaker and get back to you'. Saturday, I texted ******, and she said she hadn't heard a thing.5- Lanai furniture; the amount of spider ************ I cleaned so we could sit outside was gross! 6-I asked many times during the process if there was a *********** or a high ********* was told no, but there is one of each in the garage. I bought lots of infant/baby gear to have there, but the $$$ stuff was already here. 7-There are loose switch plate covers, bad paint patching, etc. I know thats a little bit picky, but when Im paying almost $8k for a house NOT on the Canal, we expect better. We have always had better for less on an ocean access canal. 8-The fourth bedroom is the formal dining room between the front door and the kitchen and living room. NO DOOR, NO CLOSET, just a ****** bed.Review from Michael C

Stayed at villa mangrove, ********** **. The house was gorgeous and that's where it ends. The property manager is a joke. You are miles from anything and the kids would be bored to death after the ********** wore off.hot tub not working, grass not cut, biting midges ate you alive inside the **** and outside. We where a party of 14 and everyone came back full of bites. Look like a sceen out of naked and afraid amazon edition. Don't waste your hard earned money on this one.Review from Mike S

My family entered into an agreement with Roelens Vacations Rentals (Roelens) on or about June 12, 2022, so we could spend Christmas together. Regrettably Hurricane **** ground zero point just happened to be **********. The pictures that we were able to pull ** from the news media showed that the damage was severe to the ********** area. The pier which was advertised to be a short walk from the rental and a nice place to go for sunsets was gone. The beach that was in walking distance of the rental and where we had planned for our toddlers and babies to play on was now dangerous due the mountains of debris on it. The ********** also sustained damage.In early October I began calling Roelens to ascertain what was happening. The Roelens message service advised me to leave a message and that I would be called back. I called Roelens for seven straight days. I never received a call back from them. I had a friend actually visit the rental site who saw that the street had suffered major damage and that the rental had sustained some flooding despite Roelens assertion that there was minimal damage and that it would be all fixed for our arrival. I informed Roelens that I wanted to terminate my rental agreement and that they should refund my down payment. Roelens was once again non-responsive.On October 10th I called VRBO and they were very understanding that ********** might not be the ideal spot to be having a family Christmas gathering! VRBO refunded the entire booking fee to me. Does anyone think that Roelens would be so empathetic? Roelens kept my entire deposit, (a substantial amount for us since it was in excess of $4,000.00) and has maliciously refused to return it or any portion of it to me.Based upon my experiences with Roelens, I believe that they are morally unethical. I would strongly advise that no one should deal with them or be involved in their rentals.Review from Lynne B

Rented Villa Youppi in Sarasota 1/15-4/30/23. This is our 3rd year renting here. We do not like Roens property management. They do not respond until you practically scream. When we arrived, there was black mold in the owners bathroom-we were never informed of this and the owners had been using their property through late fall until early January. This is a health hazard. The bathroom had a terrible moldy smell as well. We could not use the master bath and were inconvenienced for 3 weeks having to use another bathroom on the other side of the house. We finally bought our own bleach and sprayed down the wall to Minimize the spread and smell. Was told it took awhile to get a contractor in for the hole in the roof. We requested compensation as we are paying a lot of money-was given a bunch of politically correct responses, and was offered a free night - wow! how generous. There were no remotes to the garage left for us ( or where anyone could find them)and we had to yell about this before action was taken. This house is poorly maintained by the owner. There are water issues well beyond what you can see. It sits on a pond and the pool and pond area is the only reason we have returned 3 years. I would stay FAR away from this property management co., they do as little as possible for the renter. And, take absolutely NO RESPONSIBILITY.
