“0” Rating “when it comes to Emergency care; the Very reason Patients in need seek such services. ”Veterinarian, Dr. Amelia D******* is directly responsible for enabling Every service available in lieu of the presenting symptoms that clearly provided for “a recurring series SEIZURES”, that due to this negligence became “a gran mal Seizure”, and never would this traumatic event occurred if only had this Staff care for the Life of my baby girl, that now remains forever changed; and then to have improperly place the IV, that was attempted Twice to only have been dislodged, and in end result, my little girl lives DISABLED with seizures, and with a right, front paw that has been left severely damaged with neurological issues that has taken her ability to never WALK again on her leg. It is truly a crime when you’re at the mercy of others that you truly need to count on in times of tragedy; for it’s One thing, as people we can come together and comprehend such reasoning, however so, our Beloved fur-babies cannot ration the ruins that become a new way of life.. a new way of living, for after all, “in silence, We are their Voice .. We are their Choice..” Please, if there be any key takeaway here, and if you find yourself in need, please reach out to ‘Blue Pearl’ if you are in the Pinellas County area. God speed to all, and thank you for the read. Lisa T.

    Lisa,
When your friend Mary brought in your dog for facial twitching/focal facial seizure that was the extent of the problems at the time of his visit and she did discuss if the symptoms progress that long term seizure management might be needed, and treated him with an short acting medication to break his current seizure.  Those things and hospitalization and starting on longer acting medications were discussed if further seizures occurred, but she declined at the time and opted for home monitoring.  Generally with single seizure we do not consign a pet to long term seizure medications.  I am sorry to hear that her underlying disease process worsened to full grand mal seizures when she represented the following day to BluePearl, but her seizure disorder is not caused by what care she received here, so I am confused why you post this almost 6 months after your visit to our hospital rather than calling with any questions.  As far as your concern for her leg trauma, placing and securing an IV catheter in 5 pound dogs that are anxious or neurologically abnormal can be challenging and I am sorry we did not meet your expectation.  The location of the IV catheterization site of the front of the limb does not affect the nerves that travel down the back of the leg, so it is much more likely that any altered gait or function in the limb is related to the central nervous system disease that is also to blame for her seizures.  Again, I am sorry that you feel we are at fault for your pet's underlying health issue, but if you would like to discuss your concerns, please contact the hospital so I can address those questions and do what I can to support, despite the time that has passed. -Dr. K*****, Clearwater VEG Medical Director
