aapex electric did work at my house on 7/31/2023.....i had two issues in the panel box....scorched wires and two double taps.......they had called in advance and quoted me $600 to repair two double taps......between the time they notified me of the charge and the time they came, i researched my problem and decided that i could not bear the expense to repair the double taps, that it would have to wait......before they started working, i explained that to them........repair the scorched wires and to leave the double taps as they were......they indicated they understood my instructions.....they were here for 45 minutes.......then presented me with a bill for $725......they had repaired the double taps after i told them not to.......when i asked why they had done that, the reply was 'they were causing problems'.....no other explanation was given to me....i was forced to pay the entire bill because i needed their report to clear my homeowner's report for insurance purposes....i have contacted them, requested to speak with the owner, and have gotten no response from him......they performed work they were not authorized to do and gave me no explanation, before or after, why they didn't follow my instructions......

AApex Electric received a request from ******************** along with a copy of her 4 point inspection requesting to fix the electrical issues reflected on the 4 point inspection. (inspection report, invoice, pictures and work order attached for your reference)
An appointment was set up and the services were rendered as requested. If she did not want the work done why would she allow our technicians into her home when the double tap repair was all that we were there to do? She issued a check for payment when the work was completed, our employees would never work on a home without full permission from the homeowner and that started the moment our employees set foot in her home at her direction. If she did not want the work done, why allow them into her home to do the work SHE requested and then rendered payment for?
Double taps are a fire hazard and an insurance company underwriting guideline that states they must be fixed, as a licensed contractor we cannot and will not come back and undo the work that she requested and we performed. If there were to be a fire, we would be liable because we went back and redid the illegal double tapping that was in her panel. As I hope you can understand this is not something we can do legally.
We did the work as requested and charged the amount agreed upon which she paid as agreed.
For the clients safety we cannot and will not go back and put doubletaps back in her electrical panel. Services and material were rendered at the clients request. Client needed a letter to clear with her insurance company, letter/invoice could not be issued without the work being actually done and Aapex Electric getting paid for its services. If you have any questions or need anything further please feel free to contact us.

I am rejecting this response because:i specifically told the electrician not to repair the double taps.....i told them to only repair scorched wires.....he nodded 'yes' and said 'ok'......then i was presented with the bill for work i had told him not to do......i had no choice but to pay the bill since i needed the report to resolve insurance issues.....had he communicated with me before he did the work, given me a reason why they HAD to do the work, i would have sent them on their way and had them do nothing.....

i have owned this house for more than 20yrs.....had it inspected multiple times to qualify for insurance......no one has ever said anything about double taps until now so i felt comfortable asking for that repair to be put off until i could better afford it......

at no time did the electrician communicate anything at all to me.........that is NOT how you conduct a 'reputable' business......

    Sincerely,

********************* clearly wanted a refund AFTER the letter to her insurance carrier was issued to satisfy their insurance requirement. We cannot issue her a refund as the work was done as requested and a letter was issued for her insurance carrier.

I am rejecting this response because:.....that is absolutely not true........i called this company right after their people left, asking to speak with someone about the fact that they did work i specifically told them not to, which i was then obligated to pay for.....they received that complaint from me before i ever got their report.......i had already been told (prior to them coming) that the only thing i needed for a cleared report from property inspection was scorched wires repaired.......that information came from the property inspector.......

the bottom line is, they came here and did work i specifically told them not to........

    Sincerely,
