KMC auto sales sold me a car that was faulty with a bad engine. The dealer was aware of this considering he stated that the car has been there and ran good. Took the car for a test drive it was fine as far as the engine. I made several repairs to the car brakes struts starter and the car wouldn’t drive after only having less that 30 days. The owner stated that the car has a extended warranty that could be applied to the car for future repairs. I since came the owner and have told him of the issue of the car. Looking for results or I will have to file a small civil claim. The car fax he advertised is not accurate and considered fraud.

    Business response

    11/07/2022

Ms ****** did come in to purchase 2010 Chevrolet HHR. The car was listed at $2500 plus taxes, tag, title and dealer fee. The car was a traded in to this dealership less than 60 days prior and was sold to Ms ****** at $1801 plus taxes, tag, title and dealer fee for a total of $2905. Ms ****** paid $2200 and promised to pay the remaining balance of $705 within 30 days to be processed as a cash deal. On Saturday evening(11/05/2022) Ms ****** (who stayed in the car) and I assume her significant other came to the dealership and said the HHR had blown the motor and asked if it has a warranty. I explained to him that all used cars outside of the original manufacturers warranty are as is. But I had offered Ms ****** an opportunity to purchase an extended warranty because the car was under 200K. He asked if I could put the warranty on it now, I explained after I have registered the car to her I could not go back and sell her a warranty from extended warranty companies we deal with.

I then asked, was he sure the engine was bad, he said yes, he had a shop check it after it overheated and stopped on her. I asked what was the cause for the overheating a busted hose, leaking radiator, water pump went bad or what? He said he didn't know just the engine was bad. I said that didn't sound right because a few people had driven the car and no one had reported any issues and the car starts every-time you turn the key, nor did it ever run hot on us. However if you developed some sort of coolant leak and drove the car hot, you could lock the engine up. I asked if it was a 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder? He didn't know so I went to look the deal up and found that Ms ****** still had a balance of $705 and it was a 4 cylinder and relayed that to the gentleman. I said let's verify the engine is bad and the cause.

It's unfortunate Ms ****** had a issue with the car. He asked if we could do anything that would help. I replied let me have an opportunity to digest what you have just told me and it's late we were about to close. He replied they could come back Monday or Tuesday to talk about it. I agreed to meet and talk either day because we are closed Sundays.

Then I received this complaint this Monday (11/07/2022) morning. I am less likely to help in any kind of way now and demand the balanced owed now as agreed. The attempt to besmirch my hard earned good reputation does not sit well with me. Ms ****** signed the Buyers Guide (as-is statement), had the car for a month, then make a representation that we used a CarFax that is somehow not the car advertised when it's pulled according to the VIN number is crazy! We are a CARFAX Dealership we buy and sell according to the info we get on CARFAX reports.
