I contacted a local appliance repair company, St. Cloud Appliance Repair, to schedule a tech to diagnose what was wrong with my refrigerator. St. Cloud Appliance Repair sent out a subcontractor, GEMCA Service LLC, to diagnose the issue and charged me $69.99 for the diagnosis. GEMCA then charged my credit card an additional $440.00 for services they did not perform (repair). GEMCA only diagnosed my issue, which I paid the $69.99 separately for and performed no other work. GEMCA was trying to make a side deal with me regarding the compressor that needed to be replaced, which was covered under the original manufacturers warranty. The tech, Fernando ******** told me that his boss, Eli ******* said it would take 2-3 weeks to get the part from LG and they could use a compressor they already had to repair the refrigerator quicker and they would just keep the compressor LG would send. I declined as I was uncomfortable doing that since I did not know if their compressor would be a certified LG compressor and remain under warranty in the event it broke again. LG also recommended I not do this. LG provided me with a list of authorized LG technicians, one of which I hired to do the repair 2 days later. GEMCA's tech, Fernando ******* told me that the $440.00 would be credited back to my credit card on 7/12/2022 and I should see the credit in 3-5 business days. I also reached out to St. Cloud Appliance Repair who contacted GEMCA and they advised me that the refund was already issued and I should see the credit in 3-7 business days, this was on 7/13/2022. It is now 7/27/2022 and I still have not been credited for the charge on my card for services not preformed. No invoice or paperwork was provided to me by GEMCA for anything. I have disputed the charge with my credit card company, however I feel that GEMCA is scamming or taking advantage of consumers by charging them for services they do not provide. I'm a single woman they are trying to take advantage of. GEMCA TIN#XXXXXXXXX

    Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/07/28) */ Afternoons, said case was satisfactorily solved, in this way I invite you to communicate with the client Rebecca ****** to corroborate said information! Consumer Response /* (2000, 8, 2022/07/28) */ This issue has now been resolved finally. After filing this complaint, I contacted St. Cloud Appliance Repair to advise them and they contacted GEMCA. That's when the manager from GEMCA, Eli decided to call me and issue me the refund that was promised over 2 weeks ago. All this time I have only been able to communicate with Eli through the technician, Fernando. Had I been able to speak to Eli from the start, this may not have had to be escalated like this. It is a shame that consumers have to go to such lengths to get the attention of businesses and hold them accountable to do the right thing.
