As of January 8, 2025
Florida files COVID-19 related suit after accidentally overpaying company $5 million.
The Florida Department of Emergency Management is suing Trinity Health Care Services alleging the State mistakenly overpaid the company over 5 million dollars for COVID-19 related services.
The state is arguing that Trinity, as a contractor, "was required to return any overpayments of invoices for work not actually performed and money not actually owed," and is suing for damages, interest, attorneys' fees, costs and other relief, according to the complaint.
The lawsuit was filed in Leon County Civil Court.
