This Company is a shame they collect payments but refuse to pay out on any claims. This is no reason to give them a dime of your money because you will never see a dime from them. They need to be investigated for their practices and refusal to pay claims. If you happen to get a truthful adjuster then suddenly they are gone and your case is reassigned then denied. Yet they get an A+ business rating. how can this bee if they were a small business and there were the same complaints would they have a great rating? they just don't want to pay out any claims from ****** at all there were 100 mile per hour winds yet they want to say it was water damage. Even with photo evidence nothing. they are a scam.Review from Meghan S

Why on earth this company is still in business is beyond me. Like others have stated, I am only giving one star because I have to give at least one. I would give negative 500 if I could. I have complained the BBB and the Florida Commissioner of Insurance about this company and as previous reviews have stated - you are better of just not having insurance than paying this horrible company one singe cent of your money. You will not get paid out unless you are willing to fight them tooth and nail, losing a year of your life, incurring incredible and unending stress and then still not being paid what you should be. Terrible company. We had a water leak. After 3-4 months of run around we had to hire legal representation. Took 18 months to get 75%, their initial offer was about 40% and didn't even cover the most basic repair, with zero for personal items, replacement housing or storage costs. Luckily we were able to repair the house ourselves, but TypTap counts on most not being able to do that. Shouldn't even be licensed to provide insurance if they don't actually pay what they contractually signed up for. In comparison, we had a water leak on another house covered by State Farm and they cut us a check for 100% in about 3 weeks.Review from Justin T

0/5 DO NOT USE TYPTAP INSURNACE COMPANY Worst Insurance Company ever! Might as well just not have any. No communication. When you do call its 3rd party transfers that go unanswered. When they email you that they sent a message to the certain party, you cannot even reply or get anyone to speak with you. I live in GA and have been raked through the coals due to ** issues. Unacceptable to leave your customers hanging and then refuse to cover issues that are clearly in the policy. If you do not have a brand new 2023 or newer home, you are wasting your time. With the continued dissatisfied customers and complaints, I do not understand how they are still even able to operate. This is unjust and the BBB should step up and go after these companies unless its all truly just a scam to have insurance to begin with. How do you charge someone for a service and not provide those services? Shame on you TypTap for being dishonest, untrustworthy and all around crooks to hard working people. If I were to try this, I would be thrown under the jail. Our system is corrupt and no one will do anything about it.TypTap Insurance Company Response

I would rate this company a minus 10 if I could! Take a look at the previous reviews before you do business with this piece of crap company and do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. They hire a third-party company (******* ***** ********) to negotiate their claims and they are the most rude, condescending and unprofessional morons I've ever talked with. I contacted TypTap customer services directly for status and they couldn't provide me anything other than to transfer me to ******* ***** ********, their piece of crap third-party, for claims. I contacted TypTap Customer Service after I talked with the ******* rep to complain about their rudeness and the TypTap rep said there was nothing they could do. They deserve each other! TypTap is a low-ball payer when it comes to paying claims, that hides behind a third-party negotiator when it comes to working with its customers and are among the highest cost insurers in Florida. The goal for both companies is to pay less than half of what it will cost to get your home repaired. But don’t take my word for it, just look at the other reviews saying the same thing I am. My insurance costs have more than doubled in three years. Both of these companies are a joke and should be put out of business! My wife and I pay a substantial premium through typtap for our home insurance, as our home is historical and no other insurers would quote us. I understand that there is risk associated with insuring an older house, and I assume that they roll that risk into the premium they charge me. All of that is understandable; however, when hurricane Nicole blew the stucco off of our house and water was able to intrude and create water damage, we were told that they could not cover the claim as our policy did not include water damage -- even though the wind from the hurricane caused the initial damage (documented with images) and we filed a claim while Florida was in a state of emergency mandated by the governor. Their inspector they sent to evaluate the claim took a handful of photos and seemed more like he was going through a formality. A private inspector we hired afterwards went over the same areas he covered and determined that had the wind damage not occured, neither would the water damage. This is a typical run-around they give to homeowners who file during a hurricane -- that they are not covered for water damage. We are currently in litigation with this company and once a settlement is provided to my wife and I so that we may begin to repair damages (which we have already started with money from our own pockets) I will be filing a formal complaint. Again, the price of the premium is of no issue to me, but preying on their own customers when it comes time to pay is criminal behavior and I would like to see something done on a grander scale.Review from Bill R

8 customer reviews, all one star, and wishing they could give zero stars. I agree. Not sure how they stay in business. Biggest problem is they sub-contract their claims to ******* ******, probably the most incompetent group of people I have ever dealt with. Below is part of the agreement between TypTap (TMC) and *******. If they can't even deal with their customers themselves, what does that tell you? What kind of customer service is that? They are not customer oriented, only in it for the money. Look elsewhere for your insurance needs. 1. Services. TMC grants ******* the authority to investigate, evaluate, handle, adjust and settle each claim assigned according to applicable state law, the terms and conditions of the policy and any written standards that may be provided by TMC in addition to the provisions of this Agreement. During the term of this Agreement, ******* shall be the exclusive provider of Claims Services for all reported and assigned claims of TMC for policies of insurance written by or through the Company. ******* will provide the services and general management of these Claims Services described herein for subject claims as follows:Review from Bethann H

So, when are you guys going to call us about our claim. We thought we were getting closer when the Florida Department Financial Affairs got involved… yet you still choose not to call us. Reaching back out to the hem today, to let them know you did not reach out as promised. Our life has been on hold for over 4 months. I guess, next step is to get a heavy hitting attorney to handle it and then you will not only have our claim, you will have to pay their fee too.
