I've already filed a complaint with the Florida Bar on this office. They do not answer the phone. The HOA gives them the account and then Larsen Slaten sends obnoxious bills in legal fees to you. When you call to clarify the situation, nobody answers the phone. They will hide behind the legality of what they do but eventually this sort of practice will catch up to them. When you conduct business the way these people do, a penalty will present itself in due time. If you are here to file a similar complain, PLEASE be sure to file a complaint with the Florida Bar. Please take the extra time to ensure that these attorneys have to answer to someone about this behavior.

I received a letter in the regular mail and another certified from this collection agency. One of the itemization is $26.66 for postage. The amount owed to ********* ******** for homeowners association dues is $125. This entity is charging me $635.31 by Sept. 16, 2023. I spoke with the account department if the Village. The Association recently changed the procedure to pay the assessment from larger amounts to monthly coupons then to no coupons and no reminders. The Association said there is nothing they can do about the additional charges by the collection agency and my account is locked to my paying the $25.13 per month fees forward. So I can't update my payments without paying this unfair amount. Per the duplicate mailing, unless I pay the total amount as charged by Larsen S***** I will not be able to pay any future monthly dues. The threat is that a lien on my vacant land in the village and further charges with interest will accrue. The law firm further stated that once I pay there is no way for a refund. They wrote that they are "a law firm deemed to be a debt collector attempting to collect a debt". They sited the Debt Collection Practice Act 15 U S C. It all seems a SCAM and an attempt to seize my land in Florida. I want to avoid further indebtedness because they won't allow me to pay for the future without this additional $509.66 on a $125.65 debt. Other itemizations: Cost of collection late fee $150, Attorney fees $330, postage $26.66, copy $3. They offer me to email objection. I fear that any other contact will incur mor charges.

On March 30, 2023 I attempted to make a payment of $81.62, to the Association of Poinciana Villages. I Was informed that I was in collections, and I will not be able to make a payment. The Association told me to contact Larson & Associate, P.L. law firm. When I contacted the Law firm Elizabeth told me I only owed for the month of March. Please keep in mind, my called was placed March 30, and the fee is due on the 1st of every month. Elizabeth told me the Association of Poinciana sent me a notice on February 16. Now, I don't know how they can send a notice in February for March. I Believe Larson & Associates are acting unlawfully. Based on Florida’s Homeowners Association Law the “Courtesy Notice of Late Assessment” which states, that a notice of late assessments that must be delivered to the parcel owner before the association can require the payment of attorney fees related to past due assessments. The notice must specify the amount owed and allow the parcel owner at least 30 days to pay the past due assessments without paying additional attorney fees. Based on Larson & Associates actions and their horrendous Google reviews, I believe in the interest of the people, someone should take a close look at their Business practices. Note: Bank and bill statements are available upon request and attached is a more in-depth PDF.

I owed Poinciana Association $458 went to office to pay said my account was in collection with Larsen and Associates. Called their office said I owed 6 hundred plus dollars.I paid half thinking that my next payment would be the last only to see the total doubled. Working from pay check to pay check it hard.when I went to make the 6 hundred dollar plus payment the amount is now 9 hundred dollars plus. They need to give people time to make payment especially when you have to save a little from every pay check biweekly to pay their bill. They have no soul or conscious. They need to allow time to pay before adding on more money

My mother, who is 84 yers old, never received a delinquent assessment for a bill that is now being collected on. She first discovered her "delinquency" and the "fact" that she was in collections when she went to pay her bill in person at the Association of Poinciana Village in June 2022. She pays her bill there faithfully each month. We are quite perplexed as to how she "became in arrears." The collection agency/law firm Larsen Slaten PLLC (https://www.larsenslaten.com/) refuses to speak with my mother or me. (My mother signed off on a release form so that I can deal with them as a third party as her representative.) The original company that claims she is in arrears Association of Poinciana Villages (https://www.apvcommunity.com/) refuses to discuss the matter with my mother because it is in litigation. NO ONE will talk with my mother so she can demonstrate that she has paid her bill. They have threatened to put a lien on her property as of Friday, July 15 2022. I have emailed and I have called the law office/collection agency. I received emails with an arrears letter that my mother never received, a ledger of amounts owed (which my mother disputes) and an itemized list of collection costs, legal fees, and assessments that brings the original claim of approximately $135 to over $1000 They will not discuss the matter with me or my mother via phone. So, I am really at my wits end as to how to dispute the charges. Any help you can offer my mother would be greatly appreciated. I cannot believe this is common, appropriate, or legal action. If so, the law needs to change. Someone with power to change these abhorrent practices needs to be contacted and jump into action. I have contacted the FL Attorney General and the FL Bar Association. Any suggestions of other entities to make aware of this situation, please do tell.

I have an overdue association fee payment. I thought the bill was on autopay and it was not. I received no notices or emails from the Association until I received one between March 26-April 9th (I do not go through my mail daily) though it was dated February 28, 2022. I called on Monday, April 11th to pay my bill and was directed to Larsen S*****. The phone number for them goes to an answering machine and I left messages daily for four days from April 11th to April 14th without receiving a return call. I emailed on April 14th and received a reply that "the matter is being reviewed" and that I was required to wait. I then received a certified letter, dated April 21st, that proceeded to charge me for exorbitant additional costs in addition to the certified mailing which added an additional $457.16 to my original bill of $102.50. I would like Larsen S***** to respond with their justification for persisting in doing the unnecessary work and then charging me for it.
