Original Visit (1/16/2024). I was quoted $99 "starting price" for them to come, cut and program a new key fob for my 2003 VW Jetta. When the tech arrived he said it was $300 and they only had a basic key, no fob as promised on the phone. He measured the door lock and cut the key but was not able to program it to my car. He showed generic faults on his scanner and said my *** was bad so not his fault. The key he cut for my car is VERY tight turning the ignition. You cannot feel the accessory, on and start detent positions and it will not lock or unlock my door. The tech and company when I called repeatedly said they would refund $80 for programming of the $300 total bill, but nothing more since they already cut the key.I since found my original key and ordered 2 new keys online, cut by my VIN and I had NO issues programming them with a friend's basic VW software. I first had to wait for the 244min immobilizer lockout to reset, caused by the tech turning on the car with an unprogrammed key. This generation requires special software to wake the *** and program the key WITHOUT turning the key in the ignition called VAG-TECHO, but the tech didn't know the process for these cars.Follow up calls (2/1 12:30 and 4:30, 2/8 1:30)After 3 promised callbacks not received, the Office now says they will not refund the programming fee or any other part of the service. They still insist my car *** is faulty, quoting the code ***** error (which on VW specifically means "immobilizer prevented unauthorized engine start" caused by the tech trying to start the car with an unprogrammed key) and blaming my car for the programming problem even though they already said they'd refund $80.Their service provided a poorly cut key which barely turns the ignition and will not turn the door lock cylinders and they were unable to program it to start my car. I paid for a key that turns my locks and starts the car, that's exactly the reason you pay a mobile locksmith to make you a car key.Initial Complaint

On 12/26 my remote key would not work. After trying a few companies pro locksmith answered.I had already changed the key battery so I thought this was a simple reprogram my key thing.I was quoted a price on the phone and I asked three times if that would be to reprogram my key and if I wanted a second key. When the tech arrived it was double the price quoted but I had to get to work so I paid $432.The tech told me I had to put the remote key in the console slot. I asked how I was supposed to lock and unlock the door and he told me with the unlocking key which does not start the car.It didnt sound right but I was running late so I paid.I never turned off my car and just left for work. When I tried to go out for lunch my car wouldnt start.I called the company and the tech said it was my fault that I got the sensor wet.He knew he didnt reprogram anything. My mechanic came and said the sensor wasnt even reading so there was no way he programmed the key.Ive called numerous times and emailed them three times and I got one response on 12/26 saying they would call me the next day to gather information from me to see what happened. No one ever called and they wont call me back or answer my emails.Ive contacted my credit card company and I hope to have my money back. They are dishonest people and steal peoples money.I just want them to do the right thing and reimburse me.Initial Complaint

I recently encountered a highly deceitful experience with ProLocksmith that I feel compelled to share. Trapped in the aggravating scenario of having locked my keys in my car, I reached out to ProLocksmith, attracted by their advertised low rates. When I called to inquire about the cost for unlocking my vehicle, they asked for my car's make and model, which I naively thought was to provide an accurate quote. They initially stated a service fee of $49.However, the reality was starkly different when their locksmith arrived. It became clear that the $49 was a deceptive tactic, just to get their foot in the door. The actual price to unlock the car was an exorbitant additional $89. This is a classic bait-and-switch scheme, blatantly unethical and a gross misrepresentation of their services. What's more alarming is that this isn't an isolated incident. ProLocksmith has a notorious reputation, as evidenced by their abysmal one-star average on the Better Business Bureau, with numerous complaints echoing my experience of deceitful pricing tactics. Numerous one star reviews on ********* Yelp all describe the same bait and switch tactic. This company's practices are not just unprofessional; they are predatory and dishonest. Customers should be wary of ProLocksmith. There are undoubtedly more reputable and honest service providers who value integrity and transparency in their business dealings. Avoid ProLocksmith at all costs.Locksmith Services 12/01/2023 07:22 PM Locksmith Services ************ Job Reference #4NNZZ Total Payment $146.97Initial Complaint

This incident happened on 11/2/2023. It occurred at my home. I called for a quote to have a key made for my vehichle. I was only told the key price, there was no mention of a service charge or programming fee.I had to work later in the day and they were the first company to pick up my call. The tech showed up at 9:45am.I then went out to meet him and the tech told me the price. I went back inside my home and at 9:53am i went back outside with his money. I came back inside the house after he counted and he told me to wait a minute and this is where I thought he’d be making me a receipt, so I went back in. At 9:58 am, i went back outside after getting a call back from another locksmith that quoted me a price significantly less than what this company was charging me and I told the tech outside that I no longer wanted his service because I found someone else to do it less for me and that I’ll pay him for his time coming out. The tech then claimed that it was too late because he had already completed the key and that I couldn’t get my money back. I told him that there’s no way he finished that key in less than 5 minutes and to please just give me back my original car key and my money, but the tech refused. I then called his company and they were very uncooperative and took the techs side claiming that the tech told them that the key was done and that I couldn’t get my money back. I then had my fiancé call the police because that was not right. The tech at this point was stealing from me. The tech then proceeded to ask me to sign the receipt and I refused and the tech got upset and went to his vehicle and then tried to leave with my original car key and my money. I never would of asked for my money back if I didn’t truly believe that the tech was lying about doing the service. His boss showed up later and we tested the key the tech claimed was finished, but the key did not work. It couldn’t start the vehicle nor open the doors manually. The boss said the key only needed to be sanded down and that it’ll take him less than 5 minutes to do so, it took his boss almost 30 minutes to complete the key and to have it work. So how am I the bad guy?Initial Complaint

We called Pro Locksmith when the blade to our key fob broke off and got lost. They quoted me $169 over the phone, even after I confirmed the price with multiple questions including, service charge rate, holiday price surcharges, and they assured me it was $169. When the office person called to confirm a technician would be there in 45 minutes, we again confirmed the price of $169. 50 minutes later we get another call from the office person saying the technician would be there in 45 minutes (red flag #1). When the guy finally arrived, he told us the cost was $370 - the key fob replacement was $169, but then they charged a $100 reprogramming fee, $45 service fee and $25 tax processing fee, and asked for a tip on top of it. He then spent more than two hours working on the car to reprogram the new key fob, and when he left the car’s dashboard was lit up like a Christmas tree when it wasn’t before. We called to ask that the technician come back to resolve the issue and we watched him drive right past us out of the front gate and leave a few minutes after speaking to him. After calling the office guy several times to see where he was, he stopped answer our calls but picked up on the first ring when we tried from another number. This company is absolutely scam artists - stay FAR away.Initial Complaint

On 10/25/22, this company was hired to unlock my son's truck due to locking the keys in it. When I called the company, the rep told me $49, so I hired them. My son told me that when they arrived, he charged him $199 versus $49. I called the company back and asked why and he said they tell all customers that it's "starting at" $49 and they did NOT tell me that. He said he would review the phone call and call me back, but did not, so I called him back 30 minutes later to find out why and he said that the recording stated "starting at", which I knew was a lie and when I asked to hear the recording, he said he would not allow me to listen to it. I then asked for the owner's name, which I now know since conducting my own research, and he told he couldn't give me that as well. This company ripped me (and I'm sure others) off by stating they charge $49, only to "stick it to people" upon arrival, as they did me. This is fraudulent, unethical, and just wrong! I want $150 back immediately and I want to hear the recording, and will call an attorney to obtain it as well if needed. I am sick of companies doing this to customers.Initial Complaint

Was driving on Aloma ave on 6/10/2022 and a rock from under the truck hit my windshield and took a piece of glass out and left 3 spider veins from it. I immediately took a picture of the vehicle. As soon as I came home I contacted the company, the phone number on the vehicle is a disconnected cell phone number, so I looked up the company online and called the office directly. Spoke to a woman who did not give her name or would not give her name told her what happened and she said she would have somebody call me back. She sent me a text message and asked for a picture of the damage, which I sent her she said that a manager would be calling me back. Five days later 6/15/2022 I called the office back and spoke to Tomas. He said he would talk to his manager and call me back in 30 minutes. Tomas called me back and said that his supervisor did call me back last week and told me there was nothing they could do about it. I told him absolutely not no phone call was made to me by anybody at your company. He became argumentative and said well you can't prove that we did the damage to your vehicle so that's up to you. I advised him I spoke with my insurance and my insurance told me to contact them first and see if they will repair the damage that they cost and if not call them back. So he refused to give me the owner or supervisor's name he refused to give me the owners address or phone number . So I advised him I would take this up with the insurance and I would contact an attorney. This company has had several complaints for deceitful practices and overcharging and they've only been a business for three years. This company is scammers, they're deceitful and they believe themselves to be completely not liable for any damages that their vehicles cars.
