My daughter brought her car in for an oil change, to have both rear tires checked & repaired & have the brakes checked. I drove her to pick it up & to see what they had found. *****, the owner, simply told her the total without explaining what they had done. I asked what they had found with the tires. He certainly hadnt exuded any type of welcoming customer service when we walked in but now was actually defensive and extremely rude. He said they had plugged the left rear tire and did the oil change. I asked about the right rear tire. He said they had removed a short nail that hadnt actually gone all the way through. My daughter paid the bill and we went out to her car. I had her roll forward slowly as I looked, there was a broken off nail still in the tire tread! I went back in and told him there was a nail in the right rear tire. He replied it would be another $20. I went back out to ask my daughter if she wanted it fixed. He followed me. Said my daughter hadnt mentioned checking the tires. My husband and she both affirm that the tires were in fact mentioned when the vehicle was dropped off! I asked if he would repair it for $10.00. He responded he would do it for free. That was all well and good except for his attitude. He tells me to not come back or send anyone there! I asked how much psi they put in. The tech said 42 psi. I requested they all be set to the manufacturers specifications of 32 psi. He let air out to 32 psi. The other tech jumped in to help adjust the right side tires. ***** comes out and said something to the tech while glaring at me then started laughing. I asked what was so funny. He came back with a snarky response about how I didnt know what the pressure should be. He walked into the office stating loud enough for everyone to hear were done. I went in to get a business card. This guy, this business owner, sticks his hand up toward my face and yells were done! I took a card and left as he continued to rant. Worst service ever!Tharp's Tire Store, Inc. Response

************************** from the first sentence of your review here on ****** and on our local city FB page, it is false. Your Daughter (we will call her C) called the day before and spoke with our Office Manager and made an appointment for an oil change, no mention of tires. THEN, when C came in to drop off of her car with an older gentleman, I asked her, here for an oil change and she said yes and (come to find out) your husband said hi ***** and then they walked out, again NO mention of tires. We did the oil change and YES as we do on ALL oil changes, we checked the tires to see if good AND checked the air pressure and in turn, found a nail in the left rear tire and plugged it and then aired up ALL the tires to the PROPER psi for the TIRE. When C and you came in to pick up the car, what you perceive as no welcoming customer service as well as defensive and extremely rude is ACTUALLY how I run the desk, efficiently. Because I know who the customer is and what they are there for, I do not need to have a conversation if it is not warranted, I figure like myself, the customer wants to pay for the work and leave. I told C the total of the oil change and that we repaired a tire. As she is paying you asked about quality of the tires which in turn I stated that they were good as far as I knew because the Techs did not say otherwise. You asked HOW we repaired the tire and I said that we plugged the tire you asked about patching and I said no we plug we do not patch, patching to us is more intrusive and that I would in fact plug over patch a tire for my own family members. (As an FYI - Plugging is putting rubber into rubber and it adheres to the tire as well as wears like rubber. Patching actually wears DOWN the tire by having to basically file down the inside of the tire to make the patch work but you should know this working in the industry for 25 years). Then you both left. Then you came back, in a confrontational manner (but I guess thats acceptable because you are the customer?), stating that there is STILL a nail in the tire and that we did not check them stating that C TOLD US about the tires She did not. Like it was mentioned we did check / air up the tires and we DID find a nail and plug it. Obviously, we missed one, we were not LOOKING for nails on any tires because she never told us about that, we just did our job and yes we obviously MISSED a nail. That does NOT mean we did not do our job and look at the tires, it just means we missed it, like anyone could. So then I said it would be $20 to plug it, which in turn you walked back out to C and then walked back in and asked if I would do it for $10 I then said its FREE. You then walked back out again next to C and I went out as well to tell them to fix the tire. As I walked away you then said hey need to talk to you so I walked over to you standing inside the garage (which there are signs that say you should not be) and you proceed to ask C didnt you tell him about checking the tires and C stumbled / mumbled and stated something about telling others about the tires and maybe (your husband) knows and then I asked her as well, did you tell me and she replied that she THOUGHT she had told me but said I guess I didnt, which in turn I said thats all I needed to know. So in fact YOU are the liar in this instance. We all need to be the momma bear and defend our children, but we also need to make sure we are defending the truth. Neither your daughter NOR your husband made a mention about the tires, plain and simple. I went back outside to see the Techs airing up your tires and they proceed to tell me that you asked for them to be aired up to *****. NOTE: every vin sticker does NOT have the correct psi for the TIRES they have a recommended psi for a smooth ride, decided by the automotive industry NOT by the tire industry. 51 pound tires (which it states on the side of the tire) will begin to have uneven, premature wear to the inside / outside of the tire if you keep them at 32psi The *** needs to be based on the TIRE not on the vehicle. I explained this to you, and your pretty nasty reply is that you worked for Tire Kingdom and that we were wrong. And at that point I DID state that the ******** family is no longer welcome here and you said that you were not part of that family (but I do know that is your daughters father). Please ALSO note, that you being a woman has absolutely NO bearing on whether I believed you knew what you were talking about. I believe you do NOT know what you were talking about and that would have been the case you being a man, a woman, a cat, a bird, anyone or anything. I then went back into the office to remove myself from the situation. You then proceeded to come INTO the office and as you walked up I DID say (without raised hands) were done because there were no more words that needed to be exchanged. You then took my card and asked is this you which I of course said yes and then as you were leaving, I said (without ranting) be sure to be honest and fair be sure to be honest and fair you muttered something that I could not hear and left. As it has been stated in my replies before, respect goes both ways. You as a customer want to be treated with good customer service and respect but you can treat the business however you want. You as the customer can say whatever you want and tell others to not patron our business and tell others that we take advantage of people and I am a scoundrel and can make sure to say that others should boycott / ban us as a business. BUT, we as the business are not supposed to stick up for ourselves and our employees or fire a customer for being rude and disrespectful we as the business are just supposed to take it ??!! Sorry, we just do not feel that that is the correct way. And lets not forget, there is ALWAYS 2 sides of a story so just like you we are able to tell ours and leave it up to each person to make their OWN decision if they would like to come here. But as always, thank you for your business and your review. We hope you have a wonderful day! *****, OwnerReview from Tareq O

I stopped by to get a quote on a single rotor change and brake pads. ***** came out and greeted me with a very abrupt yes not a proper or professional greeting at all. His fuse seemed to be lit the moment he saw me, why Im not sure. It was the first time I ever walked into his shop. Although multiple shops in the area quoted me (**************************) he insisted Im gonna have to pass Brotha. Again, is that any way to speak to a customer in your ********************** for business purposes? Do you call every man who walks into your office area for honest business Brotha? It wasnt the refusal, it was the obvious and immediate hostility/disrespect that bothered me. I calmly let ***** know he was getting a bad review, then turned my back to him and returned to my vehicle. He followed me out, pulling a flanking maneuver through the work area, rather than follow me directly through the office door, so he could meet me as I sat in the drivers seat, shouting Only if you dont come back! Only if you dont come back! I laughed and pointed out that I noticed he was BBB Accredited, at that point he calmed down just a bit and I pulled out and left. The fact that ***** followed me when my back was turned and shouted at me to never come back, simply because I told him he was getting a bad review, was unnerving. He obviously has serious issues controlling his anger. Its interesting in response to ******** review, he claims it was because the guy didnt walk into the customer area immediately, yet that is exactly what I did and I encountered almost automatic hostility.Tharp's Tire Store, Inc. Unfortunately, as in all the reviews out there we find it ridiculous that anyone can do a review of a business after a 5 second interaction and say whatever they want no matter how factual nowhere are we as business able to review the customers that are rude and obnoxious to us we are left having to spend our time defending ourselves against those that have nothing better to do than to write reviews online and social media and try to ruin peoples livelihoods because THEY did not get what they wanted
With regards to YOUR review of your visit you entered the office area and I said yes my brother whats up you then asked how much it would cost to replace brakes and one (1) rotor.. I asked WHY just one rotor and your answer was that it only needed one rotor. Therefore, I stated that we would have to pass my brother.. NEVER brotha! I feel that Mister or Sir is not the salutations I typically use and though you think unprofessional quite honestly I feel I am more down to earth. You then asked Why? I explained that I would not do a brake job and replace just one rotor (we do not work that way we do not do half a$$ jobs which is of course is OUR prerogative). Your reply to that was that all the other shops said it would be fine my thought was that was a red flag, you were price shopping and in my experience that never ends well for me the business and again, my prerogative and right to choose NOT to give you a quote OR even think about doing the work.
After telling you I would pass on the job, with actually NO hostility/disrespect on my part, (though you obviously took it that way all because I did not give you the answer you wanted) you went straight to the door and did in fact state you would be leaving a bad review which in turn I believe I said as long as you dont come back that will be good yes I said that because if you walk out of my business not happy because I basically said no to you and your reply is that I will get a bad review, I do not think ANY business in its right mind will want you to return.
Then, no I did not follow you out and pull a flanking maneuver I exited the office into my shop to check on a Tech outside the 3rd garage door. However, I THEN did move closer to your vehicle when I heard you say go F*** myself which I asked you to repeat it and you would not, but I did indeed hear you. You then asked for my name with a large smile of contempt so you could write your review on BBB and I proceeded to tell you my name as well as make sure you could spell it. You then left.
Obviously **************** you could have just left after being told no we do not want to do the work you are asking and take it to one of the several other shops you already received quotes from, but instead you CHOSE to take the time and effort to try to negatively impact my business instead. I wish you luck in finding a business that makes you happy.Review from Gilbert C

Steve ***** is a loud mouth arrogant idiot if I could give zero stars I would. I did a drive up at this shop to ask if they could check an ABS code for me because I don't have the capability to test for computer ABS faults myself at home. I never expected anyone to do this for free and was willing to pay. Steve was nasty and smart mouthed from the start to me and his technicians to the point of possible violence happening, when asked how much he would charge his response was did I say I was going to charge you ? leave the keys in the car and get out of it. on and on smart comments rolling out of his mouth. Technician Mike ******* was very uncomfortable with the whole situation but was very respectful and helpful. Mike gets the five stars not the moron he works for. I've sent people to this shop because it's been in Palm Bay for many years with behavior like this they won't be around much longer. After this experience never again.Tharp's Tire Store, Inc. Mr. ****** - you are certainly allowed your opinion about me and my character. Ironically this is a BUSINESS REVIEW… and how you think you were made to “feel” technically is not about the work / job that was done. None the less… You did “drive up” to our shop and park behind the first bay door and never got out to even try to go into the front office where a customer goes…. We are not a “quick lube” we do not typically walk out to you… Our CUSTOMERS usually get out of the car and walk inside and talk to US. Again, none the less, you pulled in, never got out, and I came to you, already a little taken aback by the “you should come to me assumption”, where you then told me what you were looking for and I then told you to leave the keys in the car and get out and we would check it. And yes I never said I would charge you. The rest of the comments “out of my mouth” were repeatedly me asking you to step out of the shop because you continued to walk into the shop. which you are NOT PERMITTED, per the signs and common sense, even after being asked not to. I appreciate you giving Mike “5 stars”, well deserved… but assuming HIS feelings… is not for you to decide OR quite honestly after speaking to him, was it the case. Sir, you have taken the time and effort to write this negative review basically about how much you do not like me, nowhere did you say that I paid my Technicians to check your car for FREE and advise you of your best course of action for FREE… “arrogant idiot” or not… where is the BUSINESS REVIEW? Because all I see is a personal attack for some reason? So I am not sure how you would have ever “sent people to this shop” if you yourself have NEVER been a customer here in the 36 years we have been in business and I have been here the whole time? – Steve, Owner
