Last year, on January 11, 2022 we contracted with Lafferty Alum.& Screening to install a screen room for over $9,660.00. After it was installed the roof leaked and the tech came out several times to repair it, without any luck. Eventually they blamed the leak on the existing roof. I had a roof company come out to examine and possibly fix. The gentlemen said he had never seen anything like this in the 30 years he has been in the business. The contract required a portion of an overhang to be removed, but was never done. They failed to complete the contract and now keep putting me off. I need the roof repaired.

    Hello,

A contract was signed with our company on January 18,2022 for $9,840.00. The contract was to "tear out and hauloff the existing concrete pad, prep foundation and pour footer and concrete pad with broom finish. And to Build & Install composite room with 3" insulated roof & 20x20 screen, 1 door, fan beam, & kick plate. (This is outlined in on the attached contract)
Then on the attached contract there is a note that *7' of 3' roof overhang would need to be cut off.* This was explained to the homeowner at the time of estimate and should have been completed by the homeowner or a roofing company (as we are not licensed to do this work) prior to install but was not removed but we were given approval by the homeowner to come out and start installation when we called to schedule.
Job Signed 1/18/22, Received permit 3/16/22, Formed Slab 4/13/22, poured slab 4/22/23, Started Build 5/10/22, Completed build 5/13/22, Final inspection passed 5/18/22

The customer called in after installation on 6/1/22 to let us know their was a leak and we sent the crew out to address this through warranty. The roof still had a leak so the contractor went out in a rain storm and witnessed water running underneath of the homeowners shingle roof. Video was sent to the homeowner to show this. (Unfortunately can not attache video but attached some screen shots from the video)
We informed homeowner: It was determined that the leak was caused from your home roof. I did provide a video to you on showing underneath the shingles holding water on the home roof. Unfortunately after that has been pointed at, we are unable to address your home roof leaking.  Please let me know if you do have further questions.
We sent the customer a video to show her this.
The homeowner stated on 5/4/23 she had a roofing company come out and they told her that "it was so bad they didn't want to touch it"
On 5/16/23 The homeowner let us know it was unprofessional to put the blame on someone else and that we should have been up front with her that she needed to cut the roof back (as noted on her contract)
On 5/19/23 We explained again that the contractor came out to the home and determined the leak was caused by his home roof as water can not travel upward from our porch to the roof so this would void out any possibility of being from out roof or caulking. We let the customer know we could send out a roofing contractor for a second opinion to ease their mind and we have not heard back as far as scheduling this.

We strive to make things right with all our customers but we are unable to fix a problem that was not caused by us. We are not licensed in roofing and can not repair her home roof to stop the leak.

I have attached screen shots from the video which show the contractor pressing on the shingle and in the first screen shot you can see the caulking is a clean area but the next 2 screenshots there is dark shingle debris coming from the hole when he pushes when the water comes through.
*BBB please let me know if there is a way to attache this video for

Customer was contacted after issue was reported. Installers were sent out there on September 6th to make repairs. Videos and pictures were recorded so that customer could have proof of repairs made before roofing company would need to make repairs. Contract addressed that roof company would need to be contacted. Company has since made improvements to installments and policy since occurrence so this would not be an issue for future.

I am rejecting this response because: The leaks aren't between the existing roof and the *** channel installed by Lafferty. The leaks are between the *** channel and the insulated roof installed by Lafferty. The original contract and quote included removing the overhang on the existing roof and not boxing around it and installing small gutters on each side. This was just a rally bad job! I'll probably have to have the entire thing replaced.

    Sincerely,

Customer followed through with the product after speaking with Owner of the Company. Due to a manufacture delay on material, product did not come in time which resulted in a fault that was out of Lafferty Aluminum & Screening's control. Customer was provided with an upgrade and was not charged for the upgrade. Customer also received a discount for the delay. Attached is the new estimate and contract as well as the signed plans.

The company was contracted to install a terrace covered with metal fabric. the company performs the installation and the roof was installed with leaking problems, before completing the work they were asked to repair the leaks. since then the leak has not been resolved. Every time they are called to solve it, they only say that within the next 7 working days a technician will arrive, something that has not happened. The company paid for the entire project and now they haven't repaired the leaking problem on the roof.
