The car was towed at 11 pm, and picked up at 11 am. There was a lien placed on the car that cost me $250. Also, I was charged a storage fee of $30 for a 12 hr. stay. Then there was an $18.72 sur charge on the bill for using a credit card. This is ridiculous. Would never use these people if I needed a tow.

    Hello Connie,
While I understand your frustration as no one likes being impounded, you gave a 1 star review for the rates you were charged. Please understand we have no say in the rates as they are governed by both county and state legislature. You paid the correct rates and storage is applied at 6 hours per Florida State Statute. A lien is filed instantly when your vehicle is impounded and you signed the Lien Release Form acknowledging this, so I am not sure why you gave a 1 star reveiw. We merely did a job we are contracted to do and charged you the rates we are required to charge so I dont see the complaint here or what, if any merit is behind it.

Unhelpful, rude, unprofessional and scammy business practices. Have wrong information posted on signage to make it difficult for customers to locate their vehicle so they can charge more. Two workers also rushed me when I was picking up my car and told me to hurry up and move already even though it had damage from issues they caused. Absolutely scammy practices and terrible employees. Even worse employers.

    Good morning David,
I see you parked your Toyota Corolla in a Visitor space with a invalid License plate that did not belong on that vehicle. This is a standard rule of any apartment complex in the State of Florida, not to mention a rule of the community you were in. If you are a resident there, you agreed in your lease to keep any vehicle you bring on site, legal in lawfully operating order (registered with a valid license plate, insured etc) or you "Would be towed at the vehicle owners expense". If you are a VISITOR visiting that community, it is the resident you were visiting's responsibility to advise you of the community rules. Our signs with our toll free 800# are located at every entrance of that community that go to our 24/7 dispatch not to mention a simple google search will provide you with all of our locations if you didnt want to call and ask where to go, and what to bring etc. You could have even called 911, the Police would have gladly given you our address as they knew where the vehicle was, (thats the case number on that reciept you were given). To address your second half of your complaint, we towed your car exactly how Toyota suggests, its a pretty simple vehicle to tow and there was no damage done to your vehicle in that process by our staff. To that point our staff documented all the pre existing damages on your vehicle, all the dents, dings, scratches, faded paint, chips in your windshielf, missing pieces in your front bumper (the list goes on). Our staff also will try and hurry a process along as the rates do go up per the county so we attempt to get the vehicle picked up as soon as possible.
The State of Florida doesnt have any record of your car being registered currently so I would recomend before you call a company "Scammy", maybe follow the State Law and get your car properly registered before you leave it unattended in an apartment complex that has "Towing Signs" all over at every entrance. In closing, I get it, you didnt like being towed, but to fabricate such a complaint isnt exactly how a professional adult responds to a company just doing its job that it was contracted to do that posts their signs at every entrance (you literally drove this car past a TOW AWAY ZONE sign).

We had friends staying at our apartment after Hurricane Milton so they had AC and a hot shower. The apartment complex has suspended towing for people to be able to be safe when sheltering. On the 5th day (when the supposed suspension was lifted) they towed our friends. When we reported this to the apartment complex we were told they were still not supposed to be towing because of the state of emergency. They assured us they were calling to reiterate the suspension on towing. Our friends are without power, food, and jobs currently due to the hurricane. To tow and charge $500 to a family in need is disgusting practice.

I am deeply sorry for your friends, we were all affected by this hurricane. We were not towing while we were under a state of emergency, we actually were not towing for 5 days until more than 48 hours after the hurricane departed Florida. In regards to your friends vehicle being towed, while I am sorry for their not having any power, you are supposed to instruct your visitors to park in visitor parking. That is in your lease agreement you signed as well as the addendum for your community.

Unbelievably rude and unprofessional. One guy gave us extreme attitude when we asked him a simple question and started sassing back 2 young girls, his name was Michael. We waited in a really bad area of Tampa for over 1hr and 30 minutes, 4 young girls for someone to show up and missed the appointment time frame. He was so rude and shut the window on me mid conversation and just walked out without giving me my car. I asked what his name was and proceeded to keep ignoring me and got in his car and drove away leaving me stranded in the dangerous parking lot at 1am. He had a long ponytail and beard with gages and earrings. Completely inappropriate and unprofessional unaccommodating employees. I hope you get put out of business.

On Monday the 16th, I took my mom to her dentist appointment. On our way back home, the car died in the middle of the road. We had to pay a towing company to take the car to my apartment complex Foxcroft . The tow truck driver dropped the car in a position that is not acceptable in my complex. I took the dead batteries out of the car and took it to my apartment to charge it . I planned to return in the morning to move the car. However, when I returned, the car was gone. Thanks to Commtown, I now owe $698. I probably can't pay that amount. I think Commtown should have left a warning before towing my car, especially since the car broke down in the middle of the street and I had no choice but to park it in that position. also my other car broke on saturday my daily i dont know what to do now this like a *** nightmare

    Good afternoon,

I am sorry for your moms car breaking down. To your point, how are we to know a vehcile is broken down and a 3rd party parked it incorrectly? We merely do a job we are contracted to do and we charge rates both the County and State of ******* regulate. To your own admission you knew the vehicle was parked wrong, you should have pointed this out to the tow truck driver so they could have placed the vehicle correctly in the spot you advised them to put it in. Also waiting a day to move it in a tow away zone is admittedly not the best idea. I am very sorry for what is going on with your vehicles but please understand we are just doing a job that you agreed to us doing when you signed your lease, much like any apartment complex. They do put these rules in your lease that you initial too when you sign it as well as give you an addendum that goes over all the rules.

****** ****** and Commtow Towing are absolute PREDATORS, scammers and horrible customer service to boot! Just scammy all around. We got towed last month, 2 miles, at a cost of $550 (!). The invoice was padded with "city fees" that are completely bogus. I know how to file an official complaint and did. Quickly received a response from Hillsborough County Code Enforcement that they are "building a case" against this crooked company and indeed have over 12 certified complaints against them, and counting!! So, here's your ACTION - If you want to get your fees back AND get this business cited for fraud, contact HC Investigator ***** ******** WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE, begin by filing an official complaint with them. This guy has quite a reputation already! THANKS!!

    Good afternoon ********,

While I am sorry for your frustation, you were charged accurately with both County governed rates as well as state imposed fees. We operate under the letter of the law and you can simply ****** these fees to see they are accurate. FSS ****** covers this as well. Even *************************** explained to you you were mistaken on how you read the reciept and you were charged the correct rates, she confirmed this in email with me back in August. Your daughters vehicle was parked where she didnt pay to park as the sign instructed her. The tow was valid as we advised you of such back in August as well, had she paid to park and followed the directions on the sign infront of her vehicle when she parked, she would not have been towed. We merely do a job that we are contracted to do, we do not get to set our own rates nor do we set the rules. We just tow the vehicle and we also charge what the county/state advise us we are to charge. Your complaints were already addressed as well as your time lines were corrected when you emailed us all of your complaints, we also pointed out they were innacurate complaints as well as  Hillsborough County advised you of such.

This is a predatory company seeking to charge you as much as possible to get your vehicle back. If youre here, you likely agree this company and others like it are evil.

    Good Morning ****,

You didnt provide any specifics regarding why you were towed but to address your complaint, the rates we charge are governed by both the county and the state. We are told how much we can charge, we do not get to make up rates as we please for impounded vehicles. The rates are largely set by the county commissioners in the county you were towed in.

I would give them a zero!! I was moving my son into university of ***** at his apartment complex next thing I know I come out and my truck is gone. 475 dollars later. I go to pick it up at 930 in the morning which they had it for a few hours as I was looking for it. We are from New Jersey and we’re Devastated to think they could allow this while moving and unloading his furniture. We went to get truck and he was drunk at the window at 930 in the morning! It was degusting! They said they put a lien on my truck for 250 dollars Florida rules. I told them I will pay it all but don’t try and think you own my truck with this so called lien. He told me to call my insurance and bank where I pay my loan to and deal with them! What does that have to do with my truck being towed?? He said Florida makes the rules not Comm towing!! ***!! When we return to NJ I will call my attorney!!

Absolute dirtbags. I understand the legality so I am not here to argue whether it is technically legal to charge $480 to retrieve a car from a Commtow lot, but rather point out how disgusting, immoral, and predatory this company is. They will claim the rates are set and that they have no control over them, which is completely untrue. THEY decide to charge the maximum allowed amount in every category (tow fee, storage, mileage fee, admin fee, etc.), likely kicking back a percentage to their clients in the process. Someone please let me know how and why it costs them $250 to process a lien admin fee. They cant because it is simply another way to squeeze as much money out of people as possible.
