I contacted *********** to have them look at my system and they informed me I needed a 3.5 ton a/c unit. they gave a decent price for the unit and new duct work so we went with them. I signed everything electronically thinking I was getting a 3.5 ton unit. I never got to read the original contract due to their sales *** *************************** me thru to sign the electronic documents, after the install I had to request an invoice because the only paperwork they gave me was the permit for the work. The invoice shows they installed a 3 ton unit and now my home will not cool below 75 degrees when my thermostat is set for 70 and the ***resentatives at *********** told us that the new a/c units WILL NOT COOL A HOME MORE THAN 20 DEGREES BELOW THE OUTSIDE TEMP. They are refusing to fix the problem and have been nothing but rude and unprofessional. they have even tried to charge me for a service call to ***air a duct they didn't fully apply mastic to to seal it so I have cold air blowing into my attic. I've contacted other a/c companies and everyone of them said I need a 3.5 ton unit for my square footage and the thermal mapping they were able to look up. In all honesty I want them to remove their equipment and cancel my loan so I can get a system from a better and more honest company. Now my house stays at ***** degrees all day and most of the night until about 3 in the morning when it finally cools to the targeted temp, and my system will not turn off throughout the day except for maybe 10 min at a time before it kicks back on to try to cool my house down. I live in ******* close to ***** where it gets to 100+ degrees most of the year and my house is a proverbial sweat box. horrible company, worse employees. This business needs to have their license to install revoked. One of the companies I received information on about what size unit I need was ***************************** Air ********************************************* LLC ************. Their conclusion was I needed a 3.5 ton unit. *** COOL ARE SNAKES!!Business response

To whom it may concern, we sold and installed the correct size system for the home. Air conditioner manufacturers do not manufacture HVAC units that cool more than 20 degrees cooler than the outside temperature. That is referred to as the 20 degree split. But what does that mean? Simply put, it means you should never set your thermostat for a temperature more than 20 degrees cooler than the outside air. Why not? Most air conditioning systems can only handle a 20-degree difference between the outside and inside air temperatures . It means that, if the outdoor conditions are at 95 degrees, you should set your thermostat at no less than 75 degrees! Some factors that can prevent an air conditioner from operating at its best include Poor insulation, Single-paned windows. i have also put the sizing chart for ************ in **. The company that was saying it should be a 3.5 ton is not being honest as the house is just under ***** square feet. i will now add the Florida sizing chart. This will clearly show that the home was sized as it should have been. We always pull a permit with the county and have all installs inspected to insure the install was done correctly. I pose one question why would a company that has been in business as long as we have and depend on repeat clients and their satisfaction with all of our services want to do anything that is not in the best interest of our clients?

Our entire air conditioning system was purchased from ***********, 15 months ago and installed. We had a system check up by *********** 3 weeks ago. My husband and I pay a monthly fee to *** Cool for a subscription service to keep our air conditioner in good shape. This past Friday (8/18/23) night, the air conditioner tripped our Circuit Breaker. We called at 6 oclock in the morning on Saturday morning and were told that somebody would be out soon, somebody did not arrive until 1 PM. The technicians spent about an hour here before we realized that the reason the condenser was not on, was that it had tripped our circuit breaker. We turned the circuit breaker off and back on, and it started working again. He stayed for a little while longer and decided that there was nothing wrong with the system and left. Then at around 7 PM on Saturday night the circuit breaker was tripped by the air conditioning again. We called and were on hold for about 45 minutes before we were able to talk to somebody who told us that their schedule was too full on Sunday and that we would have an all day appointment on Monday. We got a call this morning advising us that their technician is on the first call of the day and that they will let us now when the technician is on our way to us. When that happened before on Saturday it was 1 PM before a technician got to our home. Its unbearably hot. We turned the circuit off for the air conditioner because we dont want electrical issues caused by the air conditioner. I have asked for a manager to call me repeatedly, no one has called. When the technician came today he said that the evaporator coils are dirty, but didnt provide photographic proof. Now we will be charged another $1200+ to clean those and have our AC handler moved 90. A technician will be coming to clean the coils in 8 days. Its 100 outside and I wont have working air conditioning for 8 more days.Business response

We have made many, many reasonable attempts to satisfy this customer. We have gone as far as reinstalling the indoor unit because she did not like the way it looked. It functioned correctly but she wanted some cosmetic changes, which we did to try to satisfy her wants. She is unreasonable in her demands which include complaining about everything, but only sometimes. On multiple occasions, she has said everything is great and then a few days later, she becomes unhinged again.
She has called and been verbally abusive to our customer service people and last week, she was physically threatening to our service technician. After many trips to the house trying to achieve satisfaction, we hit a wall when she verbally and physically threatened our service technician. We told him to leave the house and we told her we were not going to come back. It would be irresponsible (and probably illegal) for ** to send a valued employee into a hostile work environment.
At this time, the system is operating correctly at full capacity and the installation was inspected and the permit closed by a building official. There is no more we can or will do at this point. She has a manufacturers warranty that any licensed AC company can work with and she needs to find another company that is better suited for her disposition.Customer response

Good evening,Since the 8th of March, my renters been battling this ******* heat dealing with Joe cool home services. July 13 of 2022, my renters reach out to them and got a quote along with a few others. Unfortunately, I wasnt at the home during that time to deal with the issue. *** cool is incompetent, not reliable nor professional. When it comes to servicing their client they dont even know where to start. They simply focus on doing whats best for their pockets. My husband is active duty Navy and since hes stationed in ********** weve made the decision to move to ********** while my extended family helps with the house. Earlier March the unit started acting a bit strange and since its under warranty we called and have them take a look at it. This York unit 16 (tons)cost us over $10625 this past July. At the time my husband was on deployments and I figured whatever unit we can get at the moment will be better than nothing. Well the technician came out and unit works for a minute and 2 days later its stopped. I called them myself and express my concerns because my 10 months old nieve is in the house and its urgent I need it fixed asap. Since then the manager (****) came out and of course sweet talk my renter and keep making excuses without a care in the world of knowing the unbearable heat that the house consume. Thursday March 16 the manger showed up and send his team over with a window unit the second week. At first it was a first mother board was blown out, they order a replacement. By the time they replace it the other two was gone they had to replace them as well. The replacement didnt arrived until another week now all three was replace for a York 16 tons unit. Technicians told us we need a surge protector, because of a power outage that happens the past weekend. I specifically told the manager ********** will not be replacing anything until they can reassure me the unit works. They replaced the surge protection nothing works. I told the supervisor it seems like that just going by process of elimination which makes no sense because if I hired you to be the expert so I expect you to know what you doing. My mother going through menopause, along with a baby in the house. Basically the manager doesnt care after gauging $10625 out of my pocket because I specifically told them if the surge protection does not work I want a new unit and he said it doesnt work that way for a unit thats under a year old.Now the they replace the surge protector and unit still not working. In March 21, three of *** technicians at my house you would assume at least one of them knew what they were doing well of course not. That day I was told they need to replace a circuit breaker. I laughed to myself because I come to realize none of them knew why the unit wasnt working? A side note when I called and left message for the manager (****) the manager to call me back he ignores my call I havent heard from him in over 2 weeks now. Since that last encounters we havent spoken since because of how express my concerns. My brother was told Monday the 26 they would install a new unit. My brother got a called saying the manufacturer is refusing to replace the unit and they have to proceed with replacing the condenser now. From the day I told **** this unit s was a lemon he refuse to believe but here we are the 28 of March 20 days later unit still not working an the house is so hot to the point critter are finding ways to get inside. So please help me! Yes they brought two window unit on top of one my brother purchase, but I can only image how much their bills will be next month. Today 28 March, another three technician came through working in the unit since 10 am at the end of the day they replace the Nest thermostat for a Honeywell. Yet, they A/C still not fixed. I simply want my money now considering they overcharged me for this unit.I really hope ************************* is reading the kind of service *********** is providing for the people in ***** and Pinellas. They should change their names to *********** home.Business response

Sadly, ************** heat pump system was impacted by an electrical surge or impulse. That was the cause of the parts failure which included two circuit boards, the thermal expansion valve, the compressor and the thermostat. All of these components going out at the same time in no way reflects a manufacturing or an installation defect. Nevertheless, we worked tirelessly to help remedy the problems which were not of our making, at no monetary cost to the customer. At this time, we have gone above and well beyond what our warranty actually covers and replaced the outside condenser along with all of the other parts noted above. This situation has been resolved as far as I am aware.Initial Complaint

I called *********** to come fix a leak that was discovered in our yard. They came out and learned that it was under our driveway. We paid them $1357, and they jackhammered a small section of the driveway and attempted a fix. Unable to fix (after about 20 minutes of trying), they quoted us ~$5000 to run a whole new line under our lawn, and up the exterior of the house. They left for the day with the leak still not repaired. We got a 2nd opinion from a 30 year veteran plumber at the recommendation of a general contractor friend, and he was able to repair it quickly the following day. After 3 weeks of leaving messages with the (very professional) front desk staff at ***********, finally their plumbing service manager ******************* emailed me back. After much back and forth, he issued a refund for $420.12, claiming that they performed a service (which they did not). His letter was condescending, passive-aggressive, and factually incorrect in some parts. They refuse to give me a full refund. The only work they actually performed was jackhammering our driveway, and making a dust-mess all over the interior of our garage for us to clean up. All I want is the $944 refunded to me.Business response

Joe Cool (Kyle) came to my home on June 30, 2022 gave me estimate, then on July 6 Nick and Logan came to my home to install a ejector pump and new pvc lines from back of house to the front of house (90) feet. Job was not completed to my satisfaction that was part my fault and part theres. So I called to let them know that they needed to come back and fix the problem. They did come back however They also never gave me a receipt, so when I spoke to them they emailed it to me. They also I am sure by accident sent me there receipt from purchasing the supplies for my job. They charged me $6247.00 and were at my home for less then 6 hours. The ejector pump cost them $524.14 and all the hardware and pvc pipe cost them $263.79 so after taxes they paid $843.08 for the supplies to do job. They charged me $2600.00 for the ejector pump, $447.00 for 5' drainlines and $3200.00 for 2" for a total of $6247.00. I know they need to make a profit for doing work but to charge me 5 x's the cost of the pump and $3647.00 pvc pipe is completely taking advantage of someone. To top it all off they didn't get a permit after they told me they were. So now I don't even know if my insurance company will renew my contract. In no way is the men that worked at my home responsible for any of this, they were excellent workers and very kind. The not so nice boss Norman called me and was very rude and hard to deal with. I will not recommend this company to anyone. The price gouging is ridiculous especially with the way economy is right now.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/08/12) */ I'm sorry there were miscommunications between us and our customer and any inconvenience this has created in getting this job done in a satisfactory manner. As I understand things, communications have been cleared up at this time and the pipe has been reinstalled from above ground to below ground. On July 29th, the building inspector issued corrections that were needed for the permit be be closed. Those corrections were addressed by Joe Cool on August 1st and August 5th. The permit is still open and we are in communication with the customer to get closed. The first step is for the building inspector to approve the underground work and then secondly approve the final work after the pipe is covered up with dirt. That is a normal part of underground plumbing permitting. With respect to pricing, we believe our pricing is fair for the work we do and our pricing includes a margin to cover unanticipated rework such as we performed at no additional cost to the customer. Nevertheless, we have agreed with the customer to a price concession of $747 which will be paid when the final inspection is closed with the building department. Consumer Response /* (2000, 10, 2022/08/19) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) I will start by saying I believe that this would have never happened if the employee that works or did work for the person who holds the license for this business had not tried to get away with not getting a permit and doing very crappy work. I appreciate the company doing the right thing by getting a permit and fixing all the issues. When the inspector came to my home he was shocked at the workmanship they did. He called them from my home and told them it would be red flagged and they called me right away to schedule to fix the situation. I have missed several days of work because of this am not very happy about that but the work is fixed. They still need to schedule to come to my home to bury the pipes and have yet to send me a check but hopefully they keep there word and do it soon. I do not remember the name of the gentlemen that called me when this started, he holds the license for the business, he was very kind and understanding of the situation. Thank you for keeping your word so far. I appreciate that. Hope to hear from them soon to schedule the next part of the job.Initial Complaint

On 5/31/18 I entered into a purchase agreement with Joe Cool for a new HVAC system financed through Microf for $8,622.78. I trusted Joe Cool's recommedation to replace the AC since being a single parent of 3 children, it was not an option to go without in the heat of Florida. They claimed 100% customer satisfaction on their website. Referencing this several times in their customer review responses on Google. The 1 guy came in the morning to install explained he wasnt licensed to do it, he was just removing the old unit. No big deal. The installer came late in the afternoon. Completed about 9pm. I was greatful and left praise in my review of Cool. The first month I heard a loud clunk from the outside unit and went to look in the middle of the night when it was raining to find the breaker box sparking. Called Cool, rep came out thanking me for not touching as I could have died. He told me the installer neglected to replace the old breaker as required. The breaker was lose and arced the wet breaker box. At the 1 year warranty check the rep discovers the installer never attached the plenum to the duct. I essentially air conditioned my attic for a year. They promised to lower my electric but this caused my bill to go up. There was mold growing inside the unit in my house due to the unit being 3.5 ton when my house needed at the most 3 ton. This caused too much humidity creating mold. The biggest, most expensive was the condenser coil that needed to be replaced twice within 6 mths when these shouldnt go bad for 10-15 years. First time$1700 for labor since the part was under warranty, the 2nd time, under warranty, they wanted to charge $3000! I complained to the service manager who assured me she would review the file and come to the house and never did. Left a message for the owner who never called. Had to have a completely new system install by another company for relief. Want reimbursment for the unit due to their negligence and complete lack of responsability.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/07/18) */ I'm sad to hear that your AC system has not performed as you had hoped. The factory warranty covers parts for 10 years but not the labor or materials required to install those parts and that can get expensive. The Labor warranty expired in June of 2019. A permit with the St. Pete building department was issued and the work our installers did was inspected and approved by the building officials. Part of their inspection is to check electrical connections and duct connections for proper work. I have attached a scan of the approved permit inspection for your convenience. I don't know what happened with those items between the time we did the work and the inspection was approved by St. Pete building officials and the apparent failure. Because your coil issues occurred outside of the warranty period by multiple years, I am unable to provide a refund to you, at this time. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/07/21) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I never received the permit completed or posted to the front of my home. I requested the manual j calculations that the supervisor of services said she would provide. When i brought up the negligence of the breaker causing the system to be electrocuted, your supervisor told me she could not see that invoice because your system has been updated. This does not mean it didnt happen and cause damage to the system. Joe Cool has taken advantage of me and has taken zero accountability in order to overcharge for labor. I have no problem paying for labor and i have paid joe cool on several occasions. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/07/22) */ Manual J calculations are not required for the permit and as a result, we do not have a Manual J for your job. If there was any electrical problem, that would not be related to a coil to leak. I'm sorry your experience was not what you expected but I am unable to return any money on a purchase from 2018.
