My mother paid $1000s for a pre-arranged cremation. When the time cane the National Cremation Society paid less then $800 and the funeral home sent me the bill for the rest. A total rip=off. Do not do it!Review from Angel B

I wish I could give then zero stars. This company took advantage of an elderly man. He passes away before he could finish paying for there ridiculous plan for cremation. He still owed $1800 No service and just am urn, thank you notes, and a flag. Cost over 3 thousand dollars. Patient paid $1300. Family picked a cheaper option $749 for everything. National cremation will not refund the money or release it to the other funeral home. Horrible customer **********************. I do not believe this is legal.Review from Stephen B

**.....My mother passed away Dec 27th, 2023. We called and they were there in an hour to pick her up. We met them on that Friday to discuss plans and discuss the death Certificate. We also upgrade the Urn at that same time. As of now we were told that we should have everything back to us in about 1 working days because of the Holidays. I will update this when we get her back but as for now, we cannot thank NCS for everything that they have done.Review from Pat W

Wish we could give zero or minus stars!! I just lost my husband a few days ago. So far dealing with this business has been a nightmare. Better believe that when I am done laying him to rest I will be cancelling my cremation with them and buying elsewhere. No way do I want my kids to go through what I have. First they said they would email the death certificate to make sure his personal information was correct. I didn't get it and called the next day. She said they were having trouble with the system, however I expect she just forgot as she was anxious to get off the phone with me because she had another appointment. She spent less than 10 minutes talking to me. She sent it again and sent me someone else's death certificate. I think my blood pressure went through the roof! I called and asked what the h*** I this, how did I get someone else's paperwork? No apology, just Oh I attached the wrong file! This is a major violation but I guess she has no clue. If she sent me this other mans where did she send my husbands? I certainly believe this is a violation of HIPPA. In total I have spent approximately 12 minutes on the phone with the person who is supposed to be handling things. We were sold a bill of goods by them and this isn't what we were told when we purchased it.Review from Linda R

Im sorry to say this company out of ******** ** was horrible. From start to finish ( which took them 2 months ??) it was a bad experience. They would not return calls were unprofessional our loved ones remains sat at their place for just shy of 2 months we didnt even receive the death certificate either, received it the end of April she passed March 6th. You cant do anything without the death certificate. My niece lost her mom I lost my sister we should never have gone through what we went through. I cant even write anymore about how bad this company is?? My sister thought she had all her things in order years ago when she purchased this. She had been paying for it for a few years & only had a small balance that had to be delt with. They never communicated with my niece they told her its takes awhile!!! Almost 2 months!! My niece finally called again and was told the hold up was the balance of the agreement ????? dont you think that should have been the first thing discussed. My niece paid it with a card right then and their with no problem. Not good business people at all. Just a bad experience. Would not recommend. I cant even give them one star but they are making me. My sisters passing was so unexpected and for her to be held in that funeral home for those weeks is horrible and heart breaking. We were suppose yo pick her up April 28 we were having her memorial on the 29 but they had her ready to ship out to ********** where my niece lives. They werent suppose to ship her! I told my niece let them ship her home ****** to you. She is finally home in Ca with her daughter. We had the memorial as planned. But an emotional experience working with that company. I was so close to contacting them after listening to my sister telling me she had everything in order if her time came that her daughter would only have to make one call and everything would be taken care for her. So far from the truth.Review from Crystal M

This companys marketing scheme of gathering potential customers in open sections of public and internally renowned restaurants to present gruesome and unappetizing details of death on a large invasive monitor with powerpoint slides is unappealing, inconsiderate, and rude for nearby restaurant customers. As one of those nearby restaurant patrons, I was shocked and dismayed to endure such a sensitive and personal topic while trying to muscle through my meal. As my table was closing out, an individual in my party was opening up about how she just finished signing paperwork at the local funeral home that morning for her fathers recent passing. While she was talking, someone at the sales pitch table interrupted us, shushed her, said they could not hear the presentation, and suggested that we move to the bar to finish our conversation. We were in our own right to engage in our own conversation at our own booth. This was very appalling and traumatizing for all of us in my party as we were in the privacy of our own conversation regarding a very sensitive topic, let alone a topic that happened to be directly related to the presentation anyway. There was no sympathy expressed by the salesman and they continued to interrupt and intrude on my tables restaurant experience. Furthermore, if the sales presentation was not so loud and invasive, we would not have felt compelled to speak in a manner in which we could hear ourselves at our own small table. As mentioned, we discovered on the National Cremation website that they use several public restaurants to do their presentations, likely to avoid any venue rental space costs and further suggest this company does not have credible office space for presentations or true effective customer interaction: ******************************************************************* .Review from Jeff K.

My brother-in-law died December 30th. He and my sister signed up for this service, for almost $5,000. It has been a nightmare. When we called to let them know he had passed, it took almost 6 hours to pick up his body. And then, it only got worse. To date, Feb. 21, my sister has still not received a death certificate. First, the society put the wrong birthdate on the death certificate application. That was preceded by the society somehow not being able to pay for the death certificate, unbeknownst to their staff. All of this means resubmitting a death certificate application to the *******************, which obviously, takes more time. My sister received her husband's ashes about 10 days ago, around February 11th. That is almost a month and a half after he died. I spoke with a funeral home in **************** near where my sister lives and the woman I talked to indicated that the society contracts out all of their services. She also mentioned that NCS clients are prioritized after the crematorium clients which, in my mind, puts them at the bottom of the list. A friend of mine's mother just died in ******. It took him 8 days to get her cremated remains mailed to ******. And, his mom's death certificate arrived a few days later. I would not recommend NSC to anyone. You already have heartache with losing your loved one and now you have to fight this organization every step of the way. They are not compassionate nor do they show concern. From what I understand and have investigated, their prices are outrageous compared to buying a very basic service at a crematorium. I believe, they took advantage of my elderly sister when they sold this bill of goods to her and her husband. They should be ashamed of themselves.Customer Response

Well ... my sister received the "corrected" death certificate in the mail today. The birthdate has been corrected but not the age of my brother-in-law. Now, we have to go back to NSC and ask them to submit ANOTHER correction to the ******************* and wait for however long it takes. Meanwhile, issues that take an original death certificate or a copy are put on hold, such as changing bank accounts, applying for survivor's benefits, etc. The saga continues ....Review from Frances T.

I’m concerned,in that I have received notice of a class action suit against NCS among other cremation companies! I have the opportunities to be refunded my full price paid if I file a claim before end of year! As far as I can decipher from this is that these companies are promising ( for added fee) that they NCS would transport the deceased person no matter where they were when they died! i.e. died in Italy, they wld transport body back to states. evidently this is a violation of a law in Florida ! Anyway, wondering if this law suit has merit should I file claim to be refunded? Any ideas?Review from Fran S

National Cremation Society is a complete, invasive pain-in-the-tail. Their marketing tactics are obnoxious and oblivious to people's sense of privacy with repeated direct mailings that they refuse to stop. I took the trouble to go online to stop the mailings, and the oversized postcards ceased for a few months, then the mailings started again, this time with bulk mail in unmarked (no return address) envelopes.BBB really needs to re-evaluate their rating, as this company's regard for "their potential audience's" privacy and opinion is pretty low, as shown by continuous unwanted solicitations, and ignoring requests to STOP. The email spam laws are quite strict with unsubscribes, so why not with spam direct mail? NatCremationSoc holds their BBB accredited rating out like a shield to protect them against nuisance complaints, so it's time for BBB to revise their rating based on how they treat their "market".Review from Robert S

They are a bunch of skunks! They tricked me, and when I asked for a refund they gave me $1031.85, but kept $2683.00 for the wooden box they can an urn! The state of Florida has a way orf dealing with people like them!
