This is regarding highly concerning billing practices by Southeast Veterinary Referral, a veterinary practice in *****. Upon a quick search on the BBB website, I see that the most recent complaint against this business regarded the exact same issue I am having. This appears to be happening to many of us. On Nov 6, 2023, I received a strange text from a debt collector, regarding a balance allegedly owed to Southeast Veterinary Center. I contacted the *** the next day, as I know I have never owed a veterinarian ANY balance (it's also rather impossible, since emergency veterinary practices such as this require payment up front). I assumed their system was hacked. I sent the receptionist a copy of the text I received. *** later called me back, stating that, as it turns out, their system shows I have a $400+ balance from a visit in... 2021. They admitted they have never sent any letters or called about this alleged balance from over two years ago. I asked her how any 'owed balance' is even possible, as I pay by card every time I go. She claimed it was some sort of "charge back." This also does not make sense. (That the credit card payment went through but. later was withdrawn by the credit card. This is extremely rare.) They could not tell me the date or the card - just that it was "2021" and about $400. I checked my debit card and I have a charge from Nov 2021 for $448. It was never "charged back." I immediately contacted ***, but received no response. They continue to claim I had a balance, when I never did, and continue to refuse to even tell me the date, amount, and the card or explain anything. On November 13, 2023, I received a very nasty call from a debt collector - *** actually has indeed sent these alleged 'bills' to a debt collector, damaging individuals' credit! I emailed them again and again received no response. As you can see, this is the same problem experienced by the *** former customer, as per the most recent complaint against ***. Pls do something!

I received an email from collections for a balance due from 21 months ago. I had never received any letter, email, phone call or text message from the business during that time indicating that a balance was owed. When I attempted to contact the business to sort it out, they were very unprofessional, unable to explain where the balance came from or provide and itemized invoice. I have receipts and correspondence from the original transaction which were provided. The person I was told to contact began dodging my calls and lying to my spouse in attempt to deflect blame. I would be happy to pay my bill if it can be explained. The first time I hear about it though should be from the business, not from collections almost 2 years after our initial interaction.
