Stay away from this company! They will rip you off and have done so to many elderly victims in ************ recently. They quote you one price and then you get a bill for 10 times that amount. They are very deceptive and they lie to you. They requested their money immediately and then filed a lien on my property. They threatened to take me to court and are extremely unprofessional. Their office staff is very rude and makes many threats. Stay away from this company. They are not BBB accredited.

    Business response

Im sorry but Ms. **** was not lied to or ripped off. For some reason she has this false idea there was a set price associated with this project. To the contrary, prior to any work being started we explained to her that we bill according to time, labor and material and that due to the nature of water and mold damage, we were unable to provide an estimate due to the uncertainty of the extent of the damages that will need to be rectified. Additionally, all this information is plainly stated in the contract Ms. **** reviewed and signed with our company before any work was performed at her property. Signed work authorization contract is enclosed.
We billed upon completion of the services provided as most companies do and only filed a lien to protect our rights upon Ms. Hills refusal to pay more than what she thought the cost should be or cooperate and enter into discussion with us about payment options. We apologize if she found our office staff rude. We don't believe that they were making threats but only stating the situation as it stood and the options available to the client and our company while trying to reach an amicable resolution or if one could not be met. Unfortunately, Ms. **** still refuses to pay for the work performed at her property.

I am rejecting this response because this company lied in their response. They are very deceptive and use false advertising to lure customers. This business should be shut down. They lied throughout their whole response. I was given a quote and told them that I only had $2,000 to spend. There have been several news stories done about this company ripping people off. I have the interviews and many reviews and comments from people that have experienced this company's deceitfulness. And yes, ****** who answers the phone, is extremely rude. About everything in their response. Shame on them

    Sincerely,

    ******* ****

We are very upset and sorry that Ms. **** feels the way she does; however, we did not lie in our response to her complaint or to her. We do not engage in false advertising and Ms. **** was never given a quote for the work to be performed. No amount was ever agreed upon with her. If Ms. **** has a signed quote from **** we would like to have her provide it. It would be on a **** form as is the signed contract we provided which plainly stipulates that due to the nature of the work we do not provide quotes for water/mold work to be performed. It also clearly lists the charges for labor and the equipment we use so prospective clients know these amounts before any work is performed at their property and before they sign the contract. Ms. **** chose to sign the contract. Again, we did try on several occasions to reach an amicable resolution with Ms. **** regarding her unpaid balance.

    Complaint: 22614194

I am rejecting this response because: WMIR is still lying!  The person who worked on my bathroom quoted me $1,500. It was verbal. Their employee lied to me. His name is **** as he told me but **** said they had no such employee. I told **** the day he came to give me an estimate, which he told me was about $1,500, and I responded that I only had $2,000 to spend because I am on Disability. He responded "yes ma'am".  I would NEVER have hired them if they had told me the truth that it would cost over $12,000, because I don't have that kind of money!!!  They immediately put a lien on my property and started a lawsuit against me. Their advertising IS deceptive and I can prove that, as well as being a company that practices bad business dealings. They have done this to other people in ************, I have videos. This company should be put out of business and fined. I am ready to go to court if I have to, to prove all of this. They are trying to scare me but I will never back down.  They are lying, as well as their lawyer.  The lawyer probably didn't get the truth from the company about what they did.  I STILL HAVE MOLD SO THEY NEVER FINISHED THE **** OR JUST DIDN'T CARE ABOUT THE JOB.  I plan on counter suing this company!

    Sincerely,

    ******* ****

Were sorry that you feel this way however the information you supplied to the BBB is incorrect.
Our company was contacted in August 2023 regarding a roof leak and damage to the ******** property caused by Hurricane ***. Mr. ******** signed a contract/work authorization with our company to perform work at his property. The contract was discussed and explained prior to his signing it. It clearly states in the contract, Any amounts due for work performed that have not been paid because of any policy limitations or exclusions, and any deductible, unpaid invoice, upgrade, or other unpaid cost pertaining to services rendered not paid by the insurance company is the insured's responsibility to pay.
The client had an open claim and furnished us with the claim number to send our invoices to his insurance for payment. The invoices for completed mitigation, demo and remediation work were sent to the insurance company. Unfortunately, the clients insurance co. notified us that the client had a forced placed policy and there was no coverage for water and mold remediation. The insurance only released a payment of $2,924.74 and said the homeowner was responsible for the balance. The client was made aware of the situation and his responsibility.
A lien was placed on the property to protect our companys rights per FL statute. A letter was sent to the client asking him to please contact our office to discuss payment options. After no response a second letter was sent, again asking for the client to please cooperate and contact us to discuss the situation and payment options before we would have no choice left but to send the file to legal for collection. After 2 weeks of no response from the client the file was sent to legal. The file has since been handled strictly between the client and the attorney.
At no time after the work was finished at the ******** property did any **** employees go to the clients home and speak with him. We have sent no one to his home. Our company does not prey on the elderly and we are unaware of a news report claiming any fraud or scam.

Jan 2024, I contacted Water Mold Insurance Rebuild (WMIR) to investigate sand coming into the fiberglass shower. A tech came out, checked the shower & under my bathroom sink. This tech couldn't find the source of the problem. A 2nd tech was sent out by WMIR. The 2nd tech advised the moisture meter cannot read through fiberglass. I agreed to have 1 shower insert removed to allow for proper moisture detection. Once the wall was removed, I was told there was water damage & mold ************** would work directly with my ins for the cost of repair. I was provided with a contract to sign for the work but no scope of work/estimate as they stated this was going through my ins, I would NOT incur an out-of-pocket expense beyond the deductible.WMIR refused to provide an invoice to my ins until all the demo/dry-up were completed. Once completed, I called WMIR requesting the final invoice/pictures. WMIR started getting verbally aggressive with ******* ins adjuster upon discussing the invoice. Once I received the invoice, I realized that WMIR inflated the scope of work & cost which would require an additional $3000 out of pocket. My only expected cost was $2000 deductible. WMIR stated they would take legal action against me if I didnt pay within one week. It should be noted that this invoice & the work completed DO NOT include the rebuild of the shower, only the removal and dry-out ($13,321.20). I am concerned that WMIR is taking advantage of citizens, specifically senior citizens, by not providing up-front expected costs, overcharging for work completed, inflating the actual scope of work. They are resorting to scare tactics to force consumers into paying these inflated costs. It appears they have a consistent pattern of behavior as several complaints between the ***************************** Reviews discuss an almost identical experience of what I went through with WMIR. Any assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated, both for *********** consumers who may be misled by WMIR.

    Business response

    05/03/2024

Good day, *************************.  First WMIR would like to thank you for your business. WMIR is sorry you feel this way however, many of the things you are claiming are incorrect. Lets begin from the start, WMIR agrees you contacted us for our services. Here is what seems to be your confusion, WMIR does not start any work prior to our work authorization contract for services being read and signed, this contract was signed by you on 2/26/24 prior to any work beginning. Within the contract it covers everything you are talking about. WMIR did not say you would not be responsible, what we did was explain our process to you. Our contract covers estimates/invoices, and who is ultimately responsible for payment to WMIR. We have not been verbally aggressive, the fact that you are unhappy that you are responsible for payment does not mean we are being aggressive. Weve contacted you via phone and email multiple times regarding this matter and you basically gave us an ultimatum, you would only pay your deductible if we were to disregard the remaining balance. WMIR and ************************* have a contract and by signing the contract you have agreed to the terms and conditions within the contract. For example, if your insurance company does not pay our invoices in full for the work completed then you the first party insured would tender payment to WMIR for work previously completed. Our invoices are not inflated as we bill according to the industrys standard for the services being provided, your insurance company does not determine what we can and cannot bill for. If you have a limited policy and or exclusions this is not what determines what we should be paid, that is why you have agreed that any remaining balance is your responsibility. Again, we are sorry that you are upset but the process was explained and payment responsibility is clearly stated in the signed contract.    **************, manager WMIR

    Complaint: 21657732

I am rejecting this response because:

The contract was signed 2/26/2024. I did not receive an invoice until 3/13/2024, after all work was completed. No estimated costs were received prior to the day I received the invoice. It was a disadvantage to me to do work without a prior estimate. I expressed my concern about possible costs, above the deductible, not covered by insurance on several occasions to 3 different WMIR employees. Each time I was told "don't worry, insurance will pay. We have been doing this a long time. We have worked with your insurance company many times."  Now owing an additional $3000 is exactly what I was concerned would happen and was reassured insurance will pay.

As mentioned in my previous correspondence, BBB and ****** reviews show very similar complaints.

    Sincerely,

    *************************

As we stated already in our original answer to ***************************** complaint and we again reiterate here,  it was previously explained to the client, and is clearly included in the signed contract that we do not provide estimates, WMIR provides an invoice after the water/mold services have been completed. Respectfully, **************, Mgr.

    Complaint: 21657732

I am rejecting this response because:

At this point,  I am willing to pay the $2000 deductible as agreed, which I never disputed and as per my insurance policy.

As for the additional $3000, with an added charge of $220, I need time to figure it out.

    Sincerely,

    *************************

WMIR came out to view mold in our bathroom ceiling due to poor ventilation. He informed us that we could go through our insurance, and it would be covered entirely without even looking at our insurance. He was persistent that I told my insurance company I thought I had a leak even though my main concern was the ceiling. There was no visible leak, and this was before he had done any work or a thorough investigation. He told us it would be a process that would take time and to get the process started so the insurance could see progress. So, after talking to my insurance company, they gave me the OK. With that, he went over the contract, failing to mention rates. I signed the contract, and we talked about letting him check the ceiling, and he began. The only intrusive work he was supposed to do was the ceiling until the insurance adjuster came out. My wife and I were actively working from home. He finished and informed us that he tore into the ceiling as agreed, AND into my tiled shower, determining that my faucet was leaking while running, and somehow water got under my tile floor, which was where all the mold was. He was able to determine this with no mold visible after initially explaining to us it's hard to give an estimate because they can't tell where the mold is unless they can see it. He left, and I had a bad feeling.I immediately looked WMIR up on BBB, and my suspicion was confirmed. I called them, but they were closed. So, later that night, I sent an email firing them and turning off all the equipment as recommended. $1638 for 2 hours of labor (billed as 7 on the invoice), 3 machines at $391 per day, and many other miscellaneous charges. I called to see why it was so much for not even a whole day. WMIR told me it was industry standards and that the price was non-negotiable and it needed to be paid immediately to avoid being sent to collections, so I paid. Please stay away from this company. There are plenty of other companies with an A+ rating on BBB.

I want to close this particular complaint on this company due to them making an adjustment to the amount of hours I was overcharged for the technician's labor and giving me a partial credit. Thank you.
