Our Hurricane *** claim moved to **** in February 2023 when UPC went into receivership. After complying with all of the **** requirements, we submitted all required documents, and our adjuster provided their proposed amount which we were pressured to approve and did so on October 8, 2023. At that time, we were told it could take several weeks to months to pay, but we are nearing 4 months now since that time. We have been told since the claim is "pending management approval" and despite reaching out weekly cannot get any straight answers on when the funds will be issued. I have tried to escalate to no avail.Initial Complaint

We have been dealing with **** (through an attorney) for the last couple of years to settle a claim (************) because our insurance company went solvent. We finally agreed to a settlement on 7/28/23. FIGA sent out the check on 9/27/23. The check had the wrong mortgage company on it so we returned the check to FIGA for a replacement. FIGA issued a new check on 11/22/23. This check was missing our attorney's name. The attorney's name must be on the check so that they can sign off on it. We returned the second check to them. Today is 1/2/24 and we still have not received the correcedt check. FIGA is a nightmare to deal with and it is ridiculous that we have to wait months for our money because of their errors. Nobody holds them accountable and we need our money!Initial Complaint

I have been trying to reach this company and I keep getting the run-around. I have a recoverable depreciation that is owed me in the amount of 2,798.34. They said I would receive this once I had a new roofed replaced. The roof was put on March 15, 2023 and I have reached out trying to get someone to call me back. They refuse to answer emails and I can't get any questions answered. This has been going on for some time. I have called everyday for the past 2 weeks and I keep getting transferred to a voicemail. This is not a good way of doing business. I also want the money that is due to me.Initial Complaint

Roof replacement claim was filed on my behalf by CMR Construction in March 2021 and as of yet is still unresolved. I have sent numerous emails and made phone calls to the FIGA rep first handling the claim, originally ***** ******* (FIGA Claims Examiner) and had to constantly follow up for a status of the filed claim. I received an email notification from Ebony stating both the Claims Adjusters and Engineering Reports were referred to management on 7/26/22 for review on 7/26/22. Several email and phone calls follow ups were made with no responses. I asked to speak to her manager several times and found out in November from another associate that she was no longer handling our file. I spoke to ***** *******, the new rep and sent her numerous email for status. The last email I sent was in December where she advised the following ‘ First and Foremost. I am sorry in regards to your frustration due to the time frame resolving your claim. As you are aware, figa is not an Insurance company. Therefore, are processes are not the same as a Insurance company. I have sent the request to management and waiting on their response. I have also informed them of your situation in regards to the selling of your home and your anticipation for a expedited response. It is out of my hands at this point until they respond to me with their decision and direction’. I have followed up during the interim and claim is still being being reviewed by management. We have now sold our home in Broward on 1/5/23 and have moved to Palm Beach County. We had to include the cost of the roof in the sales agreement in the contract with the new buyer - $42k. CMR Construction have sent us a bill for $3,500 for the work they have done, which frankly feels like intimidation as they did minimal work. Their roof repair estimated was over $100k! I did most of the follow up work on our claim and they are still unaware that ***** ******* stopped handling our claim’s several months ago! Please help!Initial Complaint

Claim CSTH-22-01017 for property located at **** ****** ***** ***, ******* FL. My homeownwer's insurance company (ST Johns) went insolvent and FIGA took over the pending claims payments. In early September I received a check that I can't use to pay off the roofing company because it was made payable to the wrong mortgage company who by the way is no longer in business and also it was for the wrong amount. The check received was for $4381.56 instead of $6138.66 and payable to Ditech Financial instead of Rocket Mortgage. I've been unsuccessfully trying to communicate with them for the past two months by email, voice mail and thru customer service and still haven't received any reply back. So far I have no idea on the status of my claim. The roofing company I hired to replace the roof sent FIGA all the claim information in July, including an updated statement and haven't heard from them either, no contact from anyone. Due to the lack of response *******s roofing company placed a lien on my property which I'm desperate to have it removed. So far I've contact: FIGA: ******************* ********* ***** ********************** - *** ******** ******************* - *** **** ******************************* ******************* ******* *******: ************ *************************** ****************************Initial Complaint

On December 21st, 2021, our house was damaged by a tornado. A claim was filed with the insurance company, St. Johns. The claim was in negotiation and a offer or $46,000 was made by **** ********* with St. John. The offer was denied and the matter was set for mediation on April 1st, 2021. On March 28th, 2021 St. John's Insurance filed insolvency and the matter was turned over to the Florida Insurance Guaranty Association (FIGA). Since the claim was assumed by FIGA, we have had six filed adjusters, three desk adjusters and two desk adjuster supervisors. We do not receive responses from any of the anyone, our calls and emails are left unanswered. One of the few times we do reach the last desk adjuster assigned, ****, he advised the settlement was above the amount he could approve and had been forwarded to his supervisor, **** **** some 3 months ago. Ms. **** does not respond to emails of voicemails. We escalated the complaint to the Florida Insurance Commissioner, who replied in an email that FIGA was not responding to their request either. FIGA's failure to resolve this matter has caused further damages to our home. The roof has been tarped five times since the date of loss, 12/21/2021. We have emailed a claims manage, Ms. ******, three times with no response. Yesterday, we received an email from the Florida Insurance Commissioner advising that according to FIGA, the matter had been resolved as of October 27 for the amount of $8,707. This is incorrected, we have not received any contact from FIGA. We have not received any forms to sign or contest, we have not received any monies. Further more, FIGA cannot offer an amount lower than the last documented offer by St. Johns of $46,000. In researching the $8,707 amount, this is the amount St. John's and FIGA has paid the construction company to place the tarps on our roof the last five times. A notice reflecting this has been sent to the Florida Insurance Commissioner's office. FIGA needs to respond.
