Affordable Rescreening scammed our family of a $2,100 for a contract signed on 12/13/2022 to install a new pool enclosure. As per contract that we signed, the work was to be completed in a ***** weeks. This time came and went and there was a zero communication from the owner, ******. When we tried to contact him, all of our calls and messages would go unanswered. He would then reply with a short text message saying, that they are running slightly behind. At 43 weeks we contacted ****** again, asking for an update. This time we were given yet another excuse, and at this time he would be handing our job over to a man named *****, and he'd contact us with any updates. At this point I notified ****** that due to his breach of contract we would like to get our deposit back, so we can move on with another contractor, and we no longer wished to wait on him. We even offered for him to subtract the permit fee, so there is absolutely no loss to him. ****** sent us a letter, informing us that he will keep more than half of our deposit due to some bogus expenses incured as the result of us having an account with him, despite the fact that he never did anything to even start the job.To avoid any further hassle with him, we agreed to let him steal whatever he was claiming we owe him,and cut our losses and put this horrible experience behind us. This was until, we got yet another certified letter from ******, informing us that "we were very generous with the fees, and were even willing to waive our material shipping/handling/safe storage/restock fee...and this fee would exceeded the remaining portion of your deposit." In the other words, he is indicating in this letter that in the end, we would still owe HIM money for canceling the contract. He then proceeded to include a contract we signed with a clearly fraudulently edited time frame, changing it from ***** weeks to *****. At this point armed with evidence of fraud, we will proceed to seek justice in every way that law allows.Business response

****** and ************************* entered into a construction contract with our firm to rebuild their pool enclosure. The original estimate occurred on 11/1/22, and was provided by our salesman *******************. They placed a deposit of $2100, to get started with the process. The initial estimated timeframe for install was ***** weeks not ***** weeks as she indicated. However they did not sign the contract until 12/13/22 with was well after our timeframes changed to ***** weeks. This figure was indicated on the contract that was signed. We had been communicating with ****** and he was aware of his placement on the list. He reached out (via ****) on 8/13/23 stating "Could I please get an update for the work to be completed in August" My father had passed away on 7/27/23 and I informed ***************** of his passing and that we had to reshuffle some jobs and he had been assigned to *****'s crew. ***** is one of our installers, at no point did we say we "would be handing our job over to a man named *****, and he'd contact us with any updates." that is simply not factual. What was said is "I would have ***** reach out towards the end of next week to confirm the schedule". Lejla **** back from ******'s phone on August 19th and informed us she wished to cancel, Thus breaching the revised terms of our agreement and affording us the month of August to get them installed as agreed upon, as acknowledged by ****** in his ****. We reached back and showed the position they were in on the list and agreed to remove them from the list. On August 23rd just as a show of good faith we reached out via **** to let them know we still had their spot reserved/available and could install Monday August 28th if they'd so desire. Furthering that before ***** loaded out that weeks jobs he called them offing the position once more as they failed to respond to my offer via ****. To be very clear at NO Point did ****************** offer to cover permit costs, she did however demand a refund in full. I've attached images of the communications referenced. They sent us 2 Certified letters with differing information included regarding timeframes. We only sent the Allisons' 1 certified letter, Included in the letter was 3 items 1) a copy of the Customer Initiated Contract Cancellation Request 2) A response letter to their certified letters 3) A copy of their original signed contract. ****************** reached back to us today 9/21/23 and complained about the monies deducted making the same assertions of theft, and stated that we fraudulently altered our Agreement form. She even went so far as to send over an image of what was clearly a copy made of our original contract with timeframes dated 11/1/22 and signed and dated 12/13/22 and egregiously stated " The one and only document we signed was this one". She also claimed we hadn't started work even after 43 weeks, but they cancelled in week 35, we are currently only in week 40 from signing. She also told me "God hates liars you know. Praying the money you stole doesn't go into your own cancer treatments", so I don't know what to expect from her. There were no improprieties on our behalf, nothing nefarious or of malicious intent. I did express to her that we have a vested interest to complete all projects as quickly as possible as with the everyday rising costs we lose money every day a project lingers.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:Pictures dont lie. How does he explain this side by side photos of the contract he has and the contract we have? I didnt pull this contract with his companys letter head out of my ears. It was filled and given to us to sign by his salesperson. The dates have been clearly changed since. It doesnt take a genius to be able to see the change.
Even if, we agreed to a ***** week time frame(which we never did) he was still out of agreed time frame and thus breached the contract. My father died exude does not require entire crew to not be available. If you read other reviews on other sites, you will see an excuse after excuse as to why he breached the contract with other people as well. I stand by my statements. My certified letter to ******, did indeed referenced that we would like our deposit back, minus the permit fee. Yet, another lie that he said we never offered this. This was in the attempt to insure there was absolutely no loss to him and we could move on. His greed wanted more, so he decided to claim other bogus fees and keep the $1225 of that original deposit. This companys multiple poor reviews on other sites back up my claims. They are simply unprofessional, dishonest and a waste of time and money. This complaint was intended to warn others to be very vigilant with whom they do business and a warning to others to stay away from this company.
My husband and l, have agreed, signed and returned the letter he sent to get the remainder of our deposit, equaling $875. We shall see if we ever get even that or if he will have yet another bogus claim as to why he wants to keep the rest.
Sincerely,
*************************Business response

We respectfully reject her rejection. The Contract that we signed would have been over a yellow copy, not a white piece of printer paper. She claimed that her copy has an original signature (included screenshot). She should have a yellow copy as we don't give out 2 white copies, nor do we produce 2 contracts with original signatures.
We, never stated she had a contract of ***** weeks. It was clearly ***** weeks consistent will the timeframes we were signing at during that time period and that was explained clearly to them. It was revised from her original timeframe of ***** weeks which is in fact clearly evident as the sales rep used the original contract from 11/1/22 for the signing. After getting further behind due to my fathers passing I spoke to ***************************, and we agreed that we would have the enclosure done before the end of August as referenced by him in the prior shared screen shot, and uploaded again (yes pictures don't lie), which we had every intention to fulfill, and that can also be referenced via my follow up message to her (uploaded for reference) and via the phone call ***** made to him as a follow up, even after they cancelled. When she decided to cancel that was a breach of contract, as our timeline had been amended per her husband and ******** she wasn't privy to it, but that's why he referenced it in his message.
The "Bogus fees" referenced were a line item breakdown of fees incurred (image included). I'll add that we were very generous in our fees considering the amount of time spent getting things in motion for the project. The items on there are items that we paid for. ****************** seems to believe that we wrote a check and the permit pulled itself, & everything magically fell into place, all while we sat around having a good time. She also doesn't seem to understand we spent over $5000 on the materials for her project and incurred costs associated with that as we inventoried, safely stored & had to re-inventory those materials. Not to mention the time we had loading, unloading, transporting, and transportation costs ect. If we return them to the distributors they charge us a 20% restock fee. We were willing to negate those fees so we could simply have a clean break.
On another note, dragging my fathers death into this and the availability of our guys is a bit of a testament to character. My crew consisted of myself, my son, and my production manager. 1 guy cant build a pool enclosure by himself. As previously explained to her & her husband when my father passed my crews jobs were merged into the other crews workloads thus putting them a little further behind and moving us outside of our original timeline. Also this was what led to the agreed upon revised timeline of completion before the end of August (uploaded for reference). I've also included a copy of my fathers death certificate. I have not lied to these customers, nor do I need to lie to customers. It's really not necessary as we have nothing to hide, we are fully transparent.
As for the reviews on other sites backing up her claim, that is conjecture and speculative at best. It's also rather egregious that she would cite "other reviews" as a means to substantiate her complaint. What her review did do, was lay the ground work for our defamation and slander suit. Please govern yourself accordingly.
We received their signed letter on Saturday 9/23, their remaining portion of deposit was returned to them to via Certified Mail via **** as promised the tracking number is **** **** **** **** ****. We emailed them notification of this today 9/25/23 @11:52 a.m.

I am rejecting this response because:The contractor is listing excuse after an excuse to justify his actions. He has done the same thing in other reviews. There seems to be a pattern to this behavior. It is clearly evident where the contract time frame was changed. Anyone can see it.I do not need to go back and forth convincing anyone of this factual reality. The contract was changed after we signed it, and it was not disclosed to us. Period.
Even if we did agree to this change, we hitch we never did, there is a big difference between 28 weeks and 43 weeks. That alone should tell you all you need to know.
My statements stand and other reviews do speak enough in themselves. People do not leave poor reviews for no reason. I no longer have any interest to interact with this individual and/or his fraudulent business. My goal is to warn others to stay vigilant as to who they trust and to do their ************ reviews and other means. We made a mistake for blindly trusting this company. It was an expensive mistake, but one well learned. This will be my last reply.
Sincerely,

Signed an agreement to have a new pool enclosure built to replace one lost in hurricane on 12/22/22. Put down an $8000 deposit Agreement stated it would be done in ***** weeks. After the 28th week, they stopped returning calls or messages. I finally asked for my deposit back and threatened legal action. They agreed to send me a cancellation notice to sign detailing expenses they had incurred. $2000 in bogus expenses. I want the full deposit backBusiness response

******************* signed a contract with us on 12/27/22 with an estimated start timeframe of ***** weeks*. The Asterisk leads to a section outlining items that *** delay the project further. We did not stop responding at 28 weeks. It just so happened he reached out a couple times @ the end of the 28th week. He text Friday 6/14/23 @ 11:46 am, I responded 6/14/23 @ 11:50 a.m. as shown. Mr. ******* became impatient that I forgot to reach back over the weekend and on 6/17/23 @ 6:26 pm opted to cancel his contract via text. I responded on 6/17/23 @ 6:35pm. As referenced he asked for his full deposit back and interest. However thats not how construction contracts work. Unfortunately expenses were incurred and monies spent, hence the point of the deposit. It appears he believes everything up until the enclosure being installed is free, and we are just doing nothing up until that point. Had he waited until I got back to work and responded or simply asked again via text which he had been informed prior as the best way to reach me. I have been installing as much as possible to help expedite the installs. I have also been dealing with my father's affairs as he had just been diagnosed with late stage Cholangiocarcinoma, and I'm his power of attorney and surrogate. No I didn't disclose this to ******************* as everything was still unfolding at that time, and it was a personal family matter. We are happy to release ******************* from his contract. We are not one to be difficult. The best advice we can give ******************* is to contact an attorney and seek advice rather than trying to extort his way out of his incurred costs & demanding interest as was demonstrated in his text message. Please find the images for clear reference.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:****** had numerous opportunities to update me during the stated timeframe. The agreement was not fulfilled on the businesses end and there were no special circumstances to extend the deadlines. No communication at all from the company or ******. Now he is asking for $2000 in bogus expenses which I am not accepting.

The agreement time period says weather permitted. If by that account alone we add every day with inclement weather to the end of the contract period we would still be spared a several week buffer from signing. We would have been within the time period allowed within the contractual language. ******************** clearly breached contract as demonstrated and is upset about not getting his way. The permit and engineering are his to keep after he sends back his paperwork, and he can just do a change of contractor at that point. Again he should seek professional legal advice. However once Attorneys are involved his deposit will be shrinking even further as our time is billable. He already received what we call a reduced fee.
Included was a photo that had uploaded prior without a date stamp. I caught it afterwards.

I am rejecting this response because: after consulting an attorney who reviewed the signed agreement which was signed on Dec 22nd and expired on July 6th, adding 7 weather days(which there really werent) brings us to the 14th of July clearly shows that Affordable screening did not do what was promised. ****** never updated me the entire time. I would text him about once a month after the 3rd month for updates. Finally on July 17th after 2 phone calls and 4 texts sent by me in the previous week, I asked for my deposit back since ****** refused to provide me an update. This was clearly after the agreement had expired. ****** finally answered me that day. I have put the matter in dispute with my cc company and according to my attorney, the company could be on the hook for additional damages for withholding my deposit.
Sincerely,

We contracted Affordable Screening to install a lanai on the back of our house. We were initially told work would start at the end of January. Work started the beginning of March, concrete was poured March 8th and the building was completed March 31st. For the past three and a half months we have attempted to get Affordable Screening to request the final inspection from Pasco County. Throughout the build process and after it has been nearly impossible to contact anyone or have anyone call us back. The number listed on BBB and the web is the owner's cell phone number. We have attempted to call and text him and rarely do we get a response. I have contacted Pasco County permitting office and was told I can not schedule it because it will fail without specific pictures during the construction. The few responses from the owner were short text messages stating they were having issues with the photos. At this point the open permit is stopping us with continuing setting up the lanai, for example electrical and blinds. The lanai is paid in full and we need to get the final inspection completed. It should not take 3 and a half months to get the final inspection scheduled.Business response
07/12/2023
We found out the photos we submitted were not sufficient per Pasco County's requirement. We are awaiting additional photos to finalize the track inspection (only required in *****). The photos were taken on an installers phone that fell into a pool. That installer is working in ********** currently.
As for the blinds the final inspection has zero effect. It only affects the electrical if the homeowner is trying to install without the required permits. It is in the homeowner's best interest to pull a permit for the electrical. As if there is a fire or an injury, their ***************** may not cover it. Usually, if the insurance company does have to pay out in these circumstances, they end up suing the homeowner and getting a judgment on their property for the damages.
As soon as we have the correct photographs to upload that will meet all county requirements to close out the permit. The phone number listed on all documents is a company number that has been the business number since ****. It currently forwards to a cellphone unless we forward it back to the office.

I am rejecting this response because:It should not take 3.5 months to get the photos, at this point I would consider them lost. If they are lost what is the next steps? If it requires you to take apart the Lanai to take the photos of the **Channel install that would require the electrical and possibly the blinds to be redone.
We have called and texted the phone number listed multiple times and no one picks up, we were informed that the phone number goes to the owners cell phone. Either way communication is an issue, I would have rather had a conversation with someone then go through the BBB.
Sincerely,

Hi ****,
Thanks for the response. I would rather have a conversation than go through the BBB also, however here we are so lets make the most of it. Rest assured under no circumstances will the roof have to come apart. There is absolutely Zero possibilities of that happening! I'm supposed to have access to the thumb drive this weekend when ***** gets back home. They unfortunately go to ********** for weeks on end installing. We still have almost 200 pool enclosures to install down there. So when I do get a chance to see them the opportunity is very limited. They are usually only home for a couple days before they return now. He thought since he provided me the photos prior the matter was put to rest. He had to locate the thumb drive and get me the photos. We will have them uploaded just as soon as we get them. We also have since taken steps to prevent this from occurring again. Now he has a waterproof phone and they are required to send them to us immediately. Unfortunately Pasco County started requiring such an inspection the middle to end of 2022 and none of the other local jurisdictions do. The ******************** of ******* is actively fighting it.
