He was hired to do repairs to my 600 sf lanai with replacing screens and any repairs to existing metal bars and replacing screws, as well as replace my front screen door. I paid 50% of his invoice and was told it would be done in 4 days. That turned into over 4 weeks. I was foolish enough to pay him not only in full but also gave him over $300 as a tip because I felt he was trying even though it was taking so long. The lanai was finished but he told me I had to wait for the front door as it was a special order with a pelican design in metal. After another month he finally said he could use the pelican from my door and put it on the new one instead of waiting. I was getting aggravated and decided that would be fine so we could get it finished. Again he would tell me he was coming and not showing up. About a week later 10/13, he came and after a few hours wasn't able to remove the metal design and said he would need to take it with him. This was on a Friday and I was told he would be back Wednesday or Thursday the following week. I get a call on Tuesday saying he will be there Friday. This was typical. I had to get my daughter involved who was very upset at his taking advantage of an elderly widowed woman who was being extremely patient and kind. She texted him on Thursday asking what time he was coming on Friday and he tried to dismiss her telling her that he had already spoken to me. Then said before 5 pm. She told him that he has told me a lot of things that don't happen and an argument went on between them and he said he would be there by Friday before 5 pm for sure. Friday cam and at 4:45 pm she texted him again with no answer. She continued to text him for the next hour as she was done as well. He finally texted he would be there Saturday at 8:30 am. He showed up at 9:30 am and was there until about 2:30 pm when he told me the door was the wrong size and that I would need to pay another $350 and or he wasn't coming back and he left.

    Business response

    01/23/2024

This response was provided verbally to BBB:

We had given our customer an estimate for three doors, which she received prior to the work being done. She was dissatisfied because for one of the doors, she wanted a pelican on it like her prior, damaged door. I explained that *********** wasn't part of the estimate and there would be additional cost, and she was displeased.  I attempted to take her old pelican and attach to the door, however it didn't work because of the size. I explained that there would be additional cost if she wanted a pelican on the door.
