On August 8, 2024, I signed a contract with RNR Tire Express for the purchase of tires and rims, with an initial payment of $150. I paid a total of $2,299.05 for the tires and rims, yet after my payments, I was still told that I owed $1,910, which raises concerns about unfair pricing. The business advertised payments as low as $20 per week, but they never disclosed the full cost, interest, or payment breakdown upfront. Instead, I was told about the final cost, which ranged between $3,300 - $3,500, only after the tires were installed. The nature of the dispute involves deceptive trade practices, including the failure to provide an itemized statement before the tires were installed and failure to disclose the complete terms of the installment sale. Despite requesting an itemized statement multiple times, they have refused to provide one. I was also pressured by unexpected, high payments, which I had not been made aware of initially, causing significant stress and financial strain. I had to take out up to $2,000 in loans to keep up with these payments. The business also refused to adjust my payment dates to match my pay schedule for four months, causing late fees and further financial strain. After being 11 days late with my payments, they repossessed my tires, even though I had already made significant payments towards the total cost. This situation has caused me emotional distress and financial hardship, and I am seeking a full refund of the money Ive paid along with compensation for the undue stress caused by these deceptive practices. The issue was first brought to my attention through in-store signage on August 8, 2024, which falsely advertised a payment plan starting as low as $20 a week.Business response

per signed agreement
The reason for the repossession of the property was because nonpayment on a signed rental agreement. After multiple text strings of the customer saying that they would pay it never happened.
If the customer would like to pay off the wheels and tires, we would be more than happy to look at that.Customer response

Complaint: 22887053
I am rejecting this response because:
I appreciate the response from RNR; however, their reply does not address my primary complaint.
1. Lack of Full Price Disclosure:
Before signing, RNR never provided me with the total cost of the tires, the final amount I would owe, or the payment structure.
Alabama law (AL **** 7-2-302) allows a contract to be voided if it is unconscionable, meaning the terms were unfairly imposed or not properly disclosed.
I was only made aware of the true cost after signing, which is misleading and against consumer fairness practices.
2. Misleading Business Practices:
RNRs advertising and in-store process did not display pricing for any tires, preventing me from making an informed decision.
They promoted affordable options but withheld pricing information until after installation.
3. Their Response Avoids the Key Issue:
Their response only states that I didnt pay, but it does not address my claim that the contract was presented unfairly.
If they had provided the full cost upfront, I would have never agreed to this deal.
4. Request for Resolution:
I request a full refund of my payments, as the contract should be voided due to their failure to disclose key financial terms before signing.
I am more than willing to escalate this matter further, including legal action, if necessary.
Sincerely,
****** ******Business response

On January 9, 2025 purchased a set of pre-owned wheels and a set of pre-owned Delinte Tires off the showroom floor. The wheels had visible damage at the time of purchase. But the tires were not thoroughly inspected. On January 28, 2025 I discovered a sidewall bubble close to the edge of the lip of the front drivers side tire. I immediately called the store explaining my safety concerns and they told me " You bought them cash as is".. I drove an average of 45 miles a day for the last 20 days and there is no reason why the internal integrity of the side wall should be damaged. I explained that I didn't impact anything to cause the internal damage. The rim nor the sidewall of the tire had not been hit. This was and defective issue. The salesman refused to make an effort to correct this safety issue. He merely said you can just buy another tire. I asked again " Are you guys in the business of selling safety defective products whether used or not is the issue. He refused to make an effort to correct, repair or replace the tire.Business response

The customer came into our store and made a purchase of a set of pre-leased wheels and tires. The customer vehicle had been driven close 900 miles since the customer came back to our store. During our installation of the wheels and tires, the bubble was not noted within our shop software. After reviewing our shop photos from our shop software, we determined that we could not make a definitive answer on whether the tire had a bubble. We then called the customer back and told him we would exchange the tire. The customer came back to our store on 1/30/2024 and had it replaced. This matter has since been resolved.Customer response

I was unable to continue paying for the tires I was financing with this company, so we came to an agreement that I would return them. I moved for personal medical reasons and had to return them to another store in the area I moved to. They said that was fine and that they would handle returning them to the correct store, they now text and harass me for payment on property I no longer have in my possession. They threaten legal action every time in an attempt to intimidate me into paying them. I am unsure the exact amount that was paid to them but it exceeded the value of the tires, and I can provide bank statements if necessary.Business response

I am rejecting this response because I have a screenshot of the message from Rnr demanding payment I can provide it through email if necessary but it is too large to attach to this rejection. Additionally I have record of conversations with the Panama City store stating when and where to return the tires, and the Kissimmee store scanned in a signed copy of paperwork stating I returned the tires. Rnrs response is a blatant lie.

Than they terminated my contract now calling and threatening me with lawsuits. The men who work up there keep lying. On top of this tires they put on had flat and torn because of saying alignment needed fixed they didn't they trainees put on my tires. They terminated my contract now they said they didn't . They even said they going start new contract with my mum but who wants shop from them ever again . Never finance or buy from RnR tiresBusiness response

The Customer stated when we put the tires on that they had all the proper work done to the car already and just needed the tires put on. So we put the tires on and balanced them. they never made 1 payment after the initial deposit to put the tires on for the agreement. After Mutiple attempts of trying to reach out to the customer with no response they decided to call up here because the vehicle that they stated was good and didn't need an alignment had worn thru the tires because of their negligence of what they told us. Even though the customer was behind on payments and was clearly a risk to be a first payment default we told the customer to come up and see what we could do to help them out and get them going safe. the customer's mother is the one that brought the vehicle up and wanted us to just replace the tires even though they were extremely behind on payments. I didn't trust that for obvious reasons so I said if you get your agreement current we will pull the car in and check the alignment and other parts on the car that we can to see if something was in fact out of the vehicle that caused the irregular wear. The payment was made we pulled it in and found several issues with the car plus being badly on of aligned which they again previously stated was good and couldn't have been out by the work they had done. We showed them the report and the parts that needed to be replaced or this would happen again. We made agreement with his mom not him because she stated she was the one would be making the payments not him because of his poor recorded that once they got the parts taken care of they would return and we would make a new agreement in her name. we reached out after the current agreement was more than 7 days late and then the mom switched up saying we had the tires and the agreement was cancelled. That was never the case we gave them there wheels and tires waiting for them to return so we can help them out and switch the tires once the vehicle was properly fixed mechanically. We kept on reaching out to them and eventually they answered saying that they took the tires off and got new tires somewhere else not returning out product to us even they had already damaged it beyond possible reuse. So again as agreed on in the paperwork they the agreed upon price was never meet for the product and its our right to reach out until we get the payment or product returned. any question call ************ ask for ******* or *****.Initial Complaint

When I went to make a payment the manager treated me badly and disrespectfuly. She told me she wouldn't except my didgital debit card. She then had an employee let the air out of my tiers . I then called the police. She lied to the police I had threatened to beat everyone's a** That was a big lie and the police didn't belive her. She then told the police I had to make a double payment using my card. Which I did. The police stayed there and made them fill the tires with air and let me go. When they did that I went to discount tire to have them check the pressure 1 tire had 25 psi and the other 3 had 20 psi. That's very dangerous. She the manager told me to never come **** for anything with is a breach of contract.Business response

Mr. Souza came into the store stating a previous staff member had always let him pay when he could and that we have always taken tap to pay, He was upset that we were texting him and calling him about his first payment delinquent account. While trying to explain the process and assist Mr. ***** with a payment method that we could process for him, he began making verbal threats to harm staff at the store and then threatened to blow your brains out speaking to staff, 3 staff members and one additional customer were present. We attempted recovery and the customer removed our **** from under the truck and called the police because we would not let him leave with product. Police arrived and offered to press charges against this gentleman based on the nature of his threats, **** looked for some take offs so we could send him on his way and not have to be in a violent situation moving forward, but we were unable to find anything. The police escorted him inside to make a payment and explained to him that any future threats would result in charges being pressed and if he did not make the payment *** would have the right to recover. Unfortunately based on the demeanor of the customer and his threats, field visits are not safe for the staff to perform.
At this time the customer is current until February but demands no one from *** reach out to him he will pay when he sees fit.

I got a set of tires in 2023, and the accountant as well as the regional manager have been fraudulently stealing money daily off of the card linked to the account thats paying for my tires. My tires also lasted roughly 1 year, with several problems that cost me money with no reimbursement for the costs after the mechanics at RNR incorrectly placed two valve stems, and charged me for a rotation and balance of my tires that I never got, leading them to bald and need patched. They attempted to blame me for this, and accused me of not balancing the tires as is stated in the agreement while not realizing it was on record that they supposedly did this after then admitting that they did not, but I was charged. When they were caught lying about this, they backtracked. They refused to acknowledge their mechanics not properly installing the tires as well. I do not think they have hired mechanics that are of age, or properly trained/with proper certifications. When the bank notified my parents after they noticed fraudulent activity from ***, *** teammembers refused to take accountability, and refused to accept cash as a payment option then threatened both myself and my parents who are paying the payment plan to repo the said tires. I was threatened by the regional manager as well with a lot of vulgar words being exchanged when I called him with the issue, as I found out he was in on the scheme. They threatened to come after me for ********************************************************** cash. His threat was direct, and unnessecary as I am a 22 year old female & offered to pay several times while I was calling to simply tell him the situation. He defended the employee who has been fraudulently charging the card, and I believe theyve done this to several people with as comfortable as the regional manager was with hanging up on me, twice as well as threatening me. I have contacted the news station **** to make a report.Business response

The person making this complaint owns the vehicle but is not on our account. The account belongs to her mother. The vehicle owner says that our account manager and our regional manager have " been fraudulently stealing money off of the card linked to the account that is paying for the tires." We take these accusations seriously. Our records show that the account was paid weekly with each card payment credited to the account. We are more than happy to sit with the account owner and review all card charges and the associated credits to the account.
The vehicle owner says that she was charged for a rotation and balance that was never done. All of our customers receive free rotation and balance as well as free flat repairs for the life of the tires. We do not charge our customers for that service. In the paperwork that we provide each customer it states that we suggest the customer return for the free rotation and balance every 5000 to 7000 miles. It is the customers responsibility to make sure to return for that service.
The minimum age for employment at our company is 18 years old. Every shop technician is required to complete a course offered by the ************************* and then pass the certification test.
I talked with our regional manager, and he assured me that he never used any vulgar language when he talked with the vehicle owner. *********** policy is that we do not accept checks, but we always accept cash and credit cards.
The customer did pay well and was a good customer until 9/28/24 when no further payments were made. We would like to resolve this issue and to that end we will agree to the following settlement:
Current balance with all late fees and field visit fee waived is $507.80. We will agree to accept 1/2 of that amount or ****** as payment in full provided the customer makes that payment on or before January 15, 2025.
The customer can contact the store manager Poncho Sales at ************ or our regional manager ******* ***** at ************. Both have been made aware of the settlement offer.

I am rejecting this response because:
Due to limited word count, I was not able to go into detail of all of the issues I've had with RNR. It clearly states on their company website that they accept checks. That is false advertisement. I do have evidence of this. On top of that, they state that they do not charge for rotation & balance and do this for free, yet I was told one of my tires went flat due to me not receiving this service-thus admitting they did not provide this service when I'd been in previously. When I took this tire into another shop to be checked, it was actually flat due to the last tech (R&R) breaking the sensor off into the tire. This rocked around in the tire, & within a short time frame my tire was completely bald. Then, two other valve stems broke off, also after RNR touched my tires. They also claim to offer road side assistance for $15 extra a month, yet when my tire was too bald to make it to Joplin, they sent a tow truck that charged me $50 to take my car. They also did not have a clue which tow company had my car when my parents called an hour later to make sure it'd gotten to R&R. My mom almost had to report it stolen. She gave them a time frame before she contacted the police, to which they finally had my car show up at ***. The split cost is unacceptable to ask for considering the tires have all had to be replaced due to complications making them un-driveable, as well as a repo truck was sent out and at my mom's work last week searching for my tires. We will not pay on tires that will be repoed. I paid $500 on Monday to have all of RNR tires removed due to the repo truck being sent out as well as the tires being put on incorrectly causing issues. I won't have my car being left on the ground when my parents offered several times to pay by either A) bringing in cash or B) mailing a check in. I also have screenshots of the messages ****** has sent as well as proof of irregular payment installments being issued on their card. $1 every day specifically. I'd prefer half of the cost given back, but I'll settle with excusing what's owed & settling. I want no further contact from this business when this is settled as well.

The tires were purchased through *** on November ******* for my wifes vehicle. On November 28, 2024 the car was in an accident and deemed a total loss. I was contacted by *** on December 23rd and told that the claims department would not be covering the loss and we would have to pay the full amount or provide the tires. RNR Tire Express does offer a program know as Roll Pro, that protects the customer against an unrepairable damage occurs to a tire as a road hazard, not a wreck. At that time a replacement tire is provided.
There is not collision coverage for a total loss of all of the product. This would be offered through the customers automobile insurance coverage.
I would be more than happy to offer the customer a settlement on this account if the vehicle is a total loss since insurance will be paying them.
I addition, if the customer has the ability to get the tires off of the vehicle, they can return them with no further obligation.
