Drywizard is a mold/water damage mitigation company who I called to get a ceiling repaired from what appeared to be mold build up on a ceiling. Problem is that the business has inflated work invoice claiming to have provided services that are unaccounted for and very poorly documented, and to exponentially bill for square footage that are not in premise, purposely leaving equipment overnight for several day to inflate the cost. The business is also using sales tactics that are plain lies to get individuals like myself who are under distress to sign a contract which is basically treated as a blank check. They said that the damages are covered by insurance claims and that they work with the insurance to cover expenses which is also sales tactic used but not fulfilled. The adjuster claimed that these companies inflate their prices and services to collect maximum payable amount from the insurance even if the job is dramatically less.Attachments shows pictures of the ceiling wall affected, pictures of the job done, and invoices sent.Business response

Mr. ********* is likely upset because his insurance company denied him. I provided a resource so that he could hold the insurance accountable. Not sure if he has taken advantage of that. As for the details of the complaint, we provided a rate sheet upfront. The nature of our work is such that we cannot accurately provide an estimate for the services as we cannot see behind surfaces until they are removed. Our contract explicitly states we are not public adjusters and that Mr. ***** is responsible for payment regardless of what the insurance pays. I find it comical that the same adjuster denying the claim outright is claiming we charge too much, when they legitimately collected his premiums and failed to provide him any claim payments. It further appears that the adjuster spoke generally by saying "these companies inflate their prices."
The job was not completed at the time of the complaint because of non-payment on the part of Mr. ********** We came to agreement on the 7th for Mr. ********* to pay $7,000 total for invoice 5264 which equates to more than $5,000 in discounts that I authorized because I was trying to help him since he was denied by his insurance. Obviously, my sympathy was misplaced. Mr. ********* then failed to comply with the terms of the agreed discount. It seems to be that Mr. ********* is reaching and pulling every lever he can to save himself money for a project that his home needed. On numerous occasions Mr. ********* had informed me that he had already spent too much money on his rental property. I understand that rental properties can be a headache but I did not cause the damage to it.
On the face of the complaint, it is unclear what would be an adequate resolution for Mr. ********* besides having service performed for free.

Over two years of never being on time, shoddy work from sub contractors, never finished the job, never consulted with insurance company, kept overcharging, then threatens lawsuit instead of doing the job. We saw dozens of "new" employees. Our insurance company told us they never filed the claim as they should have, and just took our money over and over. There are numerous complaints on ****** and Yelp. Someone really needs to look into this company. I don't believe they deserve a BBB accreditation.Business response

Customer never paid for repairs to be completed, that's why the job was stopped. I gave them two years to pay for the service they received and they never paid, so unfortunately we were left with only the option of bringing in front of a judge. I gave substantial discounts and waived interest Drywizard was entitled to in order to help Ms. ******** I was bid farewell by another member of the household, not my customer, with explicit language. Normally, people would be more grateful when you give them two years to pay their bills. I am also not sure this complaint was drafted by Ms. ******** I suspect it was another member of the household who was not contracted with us.Initial Complaint

I urgently recommend anyone considering Dry Wizard to think twice. Our experience has been terrible, extremely costly, and is ending in a lawsuit! We hired DryWizard in the summer of 2023 right after we got flooded from hurricane ******. We were promised to be back into our house 3 months after that. 3+ months later, the job wasnt even halfway done. No end was in sight. Workers would come intermittently if at all. Promises were made and then broken.Once we understood that our family just would not move back into our home for the next few months, we had to fire Dry Wizard and rely on a different, much more professional construction company who finally finished our home.Under Dry Wizards watch, we got some furniture destroyed, 2 electric glass mirrors broken, countless jobs had to be redone at great cost (baseboards, painting, drywall), the site was always left like a bomb went off, the ** pipe was reinstalled the wrong way and we had to have a service call to fix. We got some neighbor complaints (some workers actually stayed at night with loud music and drinking). We were charged for items that had never been done. We were grossly overcharged ($8,800 for terrazzo refinishing when it later cost us $2,500 to refinish by the exact same subcontractor they were going to hire). After firing them they sent us an invoice that is just not accurate (at best), and almost fraudulent. Further, our 10th year anniversary gift was stolen from our home (our fault; we shouldnt have left it there). But mainly, if we didnt fire Dry Wizard, we would never had been back into our home! This is Dry Wizards problem. They take on a job that they just dont have the manpower to finish. They hire the worst temp workers. And the construction work is absolutely sub par. We are sorry we hired them in the first place, and we urge everyone reading this to proceed carefully with this fraudulent company.Business response

We are an elderly couple who discovered a water leak in our bathroom that spread to our bedroom on August 26, 2022. We contacted a plumber who could not initially locate the leak and recommended and called DryWizard to respond and setup fans and dehumidifiers as well as locate the source of the water. I agreed or DryWizard to perform the emergency work and the leak was determined to be from the bathtub plumbing and the plumber came capped the water line to allow time for the drywall and carpet to dry. DryWizard said they had experience in repairing the damage and restoring the bathroom and bedroom. They provided an estimate for services which was reviewed by my insurance company which also sent an adjuster to assess the damage and restoration work to be performed. The insurance company provided funds based upon its assessment which DryWizard wanted, in addition to our $2500 deductible to begin the repair work. DryWizard has been provided over $9000 and has not completed the job. We have had to constantly contact their personnel to get any work done and timely responses have not occurred. We have received unfulfilled promises and missed deadlines from field, office, and ownership. We have had our lives disrupted for over three months. Workers do not show up when promised or do not show up at all. Phone calls are ignored and slow at being returned. We are not advised of scheduled work and have to contact them to find out when something will be done. The owners have promised the work will be finished by certain deadlines but the job is still incomplete. Management has been disrespectable to us and indicated they are doing us a favor by doing the work this quickly. DryWizard hired a cleaning service to clean our house of the dust and debris left by to work done so far and treated the lady with total disrespect when she was trying to be paid, including yelling at her and me while on the phone. DryWizard has refused to provide and accounting of costs incurred so far.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:the work is not finished. The shower glass and door have not been installed; the tile grout is uneven and missing in places; the marble ledges are not grouted or sealed that would allow water to intrude; the bathroom window will not lock due to marble sill installation; shower floor has tile cement on the tiles that needs to be removed; the vanity interior walls need to be caulked; the vanity cabinets are scratched and need to be painted; toilet is loose; wall paint patches need to be corrected.
We have not heard from Drywizard. We received a telephone call from the tile subcontractor on Friday telling us that he has not been paid and threatening to place a lien on our property.
Drywizard unreliable and promises are not kept
Sincerely,
