My home mortgage is through Ameris Bank. On March 29, 2024, I paid my mortgage ahead of time. On April 1, 2024 Ameris Bank charged me twice for my mortgage. My mortgage payment is $1760 monthly and I had that amount allotted in my checking. When they charged me twice, my bank had to pull from my savings account and charged me an eight dollar transfer fee. I immediately sent a message on Ameris Banks online portal. The response to my message was that they did NOT charge me twice and to email a bank statement. I emailed the bank statement that same day, April 1. To this day I have not received a response. I called Ameris Bank yesterday, April 3 and the woman I spoke with, was completely unhelpful. At first, she told me if she needed my bank routing number and account number. When I questioned her, she told me that is how they refund a payment. When I asked her how I would have known that due to no response from the company, she did not have anything to say. She then told me and that they were in the process of refunding it and did not ask for my account or routing number again. She said they had everything they needed. I still have not gotten a refund at this point, I need a refund on the payment and the eight dollar transfer fee. Most people cannot take a hit of a double mortgage payment. I am lucky that I could, but there is no reason why it should take any longer to get me a refund. Additionally, there is no reason to need my bank information to refund this payment.

Hello my name is ************************* and 4 days ago I filed a complaint about the treatment I received from Joy at the Ameris Bank 14th st ATL branch (which also happens to be my home branch.) I was told when I called to complain that someone would contact me about my complaint. Instead, I woke up yesterday to find that my debit card had been closed by the very same branch I filed a complaint against and that they were attempting to close my account - a business acct Ive had since 2016 with Ameris. I also have a credit card through Ameris and feel this treatment is completely unprofessional. No one else from Ameris Bank can help me outside of the branch I complained about so Im in a catch 22. Today I was stranded because I couldnt buy gas or get an Uber. The reason? Well, while my account is in good standing and I'm still receiving daily alerts about my balance, *** the manager at the branch I complained about has blocked my debit card and after calling all day to find out why I've been told by Ameris customer service and ******************** Corporate that only she can re-activate it. My daughter was late being picked up from school because *** thinks she can block me from accessing my own money for no good reason. No one from your staff has returned my inquiries at this point and Im at a loss for what to do. I have now posted a video of the incident to Tik Tok and gotten a very supportive response (and over 30k views) Im taking steps to file a complaint with the **** as I've not been contacted on the status of my card or when I will have access to my funds again - I also have a credit card issued through your bank and you've offered me several more over the years: The monthly payments for that account come from my business account which *** has locked so my credit score will also likely suffer as a result of this personal attack - as of yesterday my account is in good standing and I'm simply being blocked from accessing my own funds - Im at a loss for what to do next when I've reached out to the regional manager Virginia and even she is unwilling to return my calls. Any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated in this matter sir.-******************************* *** Panic LLC ************

Thank you for making us aware of your concern. We have reach out to you several times and you have not returned our calls. A decision to close your account was made as you no longer meet the bank's risk profile. A letter was mailed to you on September 18, 2023, stating this. At the time you used your debit card your account was overdrawn $0.81; the account and debit card were still open.

Please accept our apologies for your recent experience at out Ameris Bank *************** We pride ourselves on our customer service and I'm sorry you feel differently.

On July 26, 2023 I wrote a check on my business account to another business. I forgot to sign the check. I gave it to the other business owner who took it to his bank and deposited it (he did not notice that I had forgotten to sign it). His bank accepted the check (and did not notice that I had forgotten to sign it) His bank submitted it to my bank who sent it through to me. With my bank I have a service that allows my to approve each check for payment when it is submitted to my bank. I APPROVED THE CHECK! and they took the funds $1,099.00 from my account. Then a clerk somewhere noticed that the check wasn't signed and kicked it back. They did not release the funds to him nor did they return the funds to me. On August 4, 2023 I spoke with ***** in the ******************* ************** and he said he would check on it. I have spoken or emailed Chis 8 times (8/4, 8/8, 8/15, 8/15, 8/16, 8/17, 8/21, 8/22, 8/22) since then but this has still not been resolved. On August 8, 2023 I spoke with the branch manager, *************************** ************, and she said that even though they took the funds electronically, they can't return them the same way. Instead they have to mail the physical check back to me and I have to walk it in to my local branch and they will then return the funds. THE CHECK HAS NEVER BEEN RETURNED TO ME and although I have tried calling her on multiple occasions since then, she has neither taken nor returned my call.It has been a month since I wrote the check. I have written another check to the other business owner. The funds have not been returned to me. The physical check has not been returned to me.One of the two banks has over $1,000.00 of my money and NO ONE is doing anything.

Full amount of loan balance has been paid off. Paid full amount that was shown due online. Final Payment was sent over 2 weeks ago. Called and checked on account. She said that loan was still owed $1.43 in principal balance. But then stated I had late ********** fees that were still due after she spoke with her manager totaling over $180+ but couldnt say exactly when and what they were for. I went online to make another payment for the remainder principal that had accumulated since my last payment of $1.43 which I made a payment of $1.60 plus the $3.95 payment fee. I need all the late fees and whatever amount of that $180 plus to be waived. I have paid the ******************************** still wont release my title . I have not received any documentation for the outstanding amount they claim I owe. As Im not aware what its for.

Thank you for making us aware of your concerns and experience. In your written correspondence dated December 6, 2022, you request all late fees and the amount of $180.00 plus be waved.  On December 6, 2022, you called and left a message for a return the call. The Collections Team Leader returned the call the same day. It was explained that the late fees and NSF fees would not show on the website. You were advised that the total amount of $181.43 was due in order to receive the title.  You requested a written breakdown of all amounts owed and a letter describing the breakdown of the amount owed was sent on the day of request. A second payment history was sent to you with the individual fees. Research revealed during the term of contract you were 35 times over 30 days late and 1 over ********************************************************************** addition to multiple past due notices mailed. In August 2022, you requested a payment history which was sent on August 18, 2022,outlining NSF and late fees. On several occasions you demanded late fees be waived. The Bank offered a one-time date change in March 2016 to prevent any further late fees; however, you refused.  We apologize we are not able to make the accommodations you are seeking.

On Dec 6th, 2022 I never received a call back  from anyone at Ameris bank when I left a message. I only received a letter (which what I submitted) that I received insisting a fee amount owed with not dates of what it was for. Til this day I have received anything. Nor have i received anything in the mail EVER of a payment history or breakdown of my payment history & fees on the dates to show the amount. I was told that i would receive it only to receive a letter demanding that if I didnt pay that I would be sent to collections & my account would be charged off. *************************** is lying!!! Also I have NEVER asked for any late fees to be wavier. EVER!!! I have always paid $700 on my actual car payment when my amount due was less. She offered to waive a $18 late fee the early part of this year on her own. I NEVER asked her to do that. She took it upon herself. It was because something she didnt understand in the system when I asked and the payment had posted but charged a late fee so she waived it to her my balance corrected. I had asked her for a break down of my payment history before and she has never sent it. Just like shes saying this time. They have never sent me any kind of breakdown on dates in regards to these fees because their lying or making up some sort of fees just to hold my title. Id like to see in the contract where they can hold my tilted doe some so called late/nsf fee that I have no dates of record what I owe them for. I have paid ever last ***** that said I was to pay on my contract that was on their website late fees and all of I was so called late 35 times. If I was late that many times my balance would be way over this amount of $180 I want to a copy of my payment history mailed to me so I can see what their saying I owe for. Because my balance is satisfied and paid. I need my title. To be mailed to me. All this lying is ridiculous saying I owe when there is no proof on paper which theyclaim to have sent to me because I received nothing but this letter demanding I pay or my paid account would be charged off !!!! .

We are selling some property; Ameris Bank holds a lien on the property; we are asking how much the release for the property will be. Ameris Bank ******** Services requires a $250 processing fee; we sent all the paperwork and the processing fee on 1 February. Although we have called several times asking about the status of this simple release request, we heard nothing until today, 1 March. We received a LETTER dated 17 February that the Ameris Bank ******** Services did not receive payment and would not process the application until they were paid. ************ has verified that Ameris Bank DID cash the check on 9 February; we have a bank certified copy of the cancelled check. It is not our fault that Ameris messed up. Why couldn't their mortgage services call - email - FAX - text this problem, not send a letter that took 14 days to be mailed (postmarked 24 Feb). In addition, someone at Ameris Bank ******** Services put all our info online. I received ten calls last weekend from various loan companies saying they were responding to my online request, that I was selling my house and buying a new one. I put nothing online. We are not selling our house. Whoever listed our information online did not have our permission, but they sure had all of our information and put it out there.
