Errors on tax return, and when questioned and asked, refused to talk or explain to me. Refused to see me, and also filed my tax returns WITHOUT my signature or approval. Would not provide me a copy of return until I paid fee, and was NOT allowed to review before submitting.I provided all info asked for by preparer. I had received an auto-notification from *** indicating my return had been e-filed/submitted. I had not received any notification from preparer to review or sign my return before submitting. Upon emailing and calling preparer, she indicated I would have to pay for preparation before reviewing, which I did. Please keep in mind, these had already been submitted, and I had no chance to review or sign. She did have a call with me, but when asked about certain sections, she just indicated it was fine and ok. I consulted with other **** as it did not seem correct, and was told otherwise as well. I then asked her to correct. She sent another version, which again was not correct. When asked again to correct and please explain, she stopped communicating. She would not answer phone calls, emails, or see me at her office. I had to pay another preparer to file an amendment on my taxes, as there were gross errors according to the new preparer. I asked for a refund due to me having to re-file, the errors on the return, submitting the return WITHOUT my permission and signature, and not answering questions as the preparer/CPA I paid to do my tax return. Emails with dates and correspondence attached.

Taxes were completed for taxpayer, he had many errors from the way he was filing his taxes on Turbo Tax, this was corrected on his 2023 return, the returns were prepared and filed.

Then taxpayer wanted my office to train him on how to prepare taxes, we do not train. When he discovered that we will not train him, he began to threaten us, we have those emails if BBB would like to post them, our attorney has a copy as well.

The taxpayer was charged for ONE tax return. That was what was requested of us and the information given equaled ONE tax return. No more services were paid for.

When the threats continued, we did not offer any of our 61 services, he has been removed as a client and we do not wish to do any further business transactions with him per our attorney.

We are sure he will be happier with someone else.

    Complaint: 22386154

I believe the business may have this case confused with another client.  I never used Turbo Tax, discussed Turbo Tax, nor have I ever purchased Turbo Tax for use for at least 10 years.  I went to this business with my normal tax info that was asked for and provided.  No work on my taxes was done PRIOR to this.

Furthermore, I provided all email communication in the initial communication, and at no time was there ever any "threatening" communication.  My last email was asking for a refund on the preparation fees due to the lack of communication and not changing how I asked, and before that it was indicating if they did not respond to questions about my return that they prepared I would have to submit a complaint to BBB and a preparer complaint to the IRS.

It is true that I paid for and the company provided ONE tax return.  HOWEVER, the return was submitted to the *** and state WITHOUT me reviewing OR signing the return.  The first notification I received was an email saying my return had been e-filed.  When asked to review the return, I had to pay first before I got a chance to review anything.  After paying and receiving my return, I had questions because of the abnormally HIGH refund I was to receive.  My main question centered around depreciation on my vehicle associated with my business.  The preparer did call me one time, and I asked to explain how it worked as it did not make sense, and I had never seen such a high refund and depreciation method.  The only response was, "yes you can do that" and that it was fine.  After thinking on it, and consulting with other CPAs/tax preparers, I asked the preparer to change my return to just calculate mileage on my vehicle with no depreciation.  Again, a return was forwarded to me with some changes, but still abnormally high return.  After continuing to ask about this, the preparer sent a snippy response and then stopped communicating.

All of my assessments were based on basic research online, but more importantly consulting with other CPAs, who indicated there were errors with the return and they did not agree at all with what had been done.  I ended up paying one of these CPAs to submit an amendment and ultimately had to PAY more in taxes VERSUS a refund as the preparer had said.  I, in no way, ever asked for any "tax training" or training on how to prepare taxes, as indicated by the business' response.

This company DID provide me with one tax return that I paid for and a correction (which was not what I had asked for when corrected).  However, they did NOT correct how I asked and would not work with me to correct how I asked them to be, e-filed WITHOUT my signature on my taxes, and never let me review my taxes BEFORE submitting.

All email communication was provided in my original submittal, and I am happy to discuss further with the BBB.

I have your threats in writing and time stamped.  If BBB would like to see those threats and post them, I will be happy to send.

You have been removed as a client for threatening a tax preparer and placed with our attorney.

    Complaint: 22386154

I am rejecting this response because:  I have provided all email communication between myself and the business, and the BBB is more than welcome to review those.  It has been posted in the original complaint I submitted, and is all date/time stamped.  The facts of this case have already been provided.  I am not sure what this business' response is.  Maybe they have this case confused with someone else, as I never discussed "turbo tax", never asked for instructions on preparing taxes, or never sent "threatening" emails.  Again, BBB has all communication, and is more than welcome to review.

To add to this case, this business had the *** owing me a REFUND of $17,640 due to me on my first return they submitted on my behalf without my signature or review.  After asking them to re-do, they then provided me a return showing $753 REFUND due to me.   After asking to please go over this return with me, they refused and would not return emails or calls or meet with me.

After paying another preparer to file an amendment on my 2023 taxes, I OWED the *** $9,828.  This is a significant difference from the returns prepared by this business.

Again, I have already stated in the original complaint and follow message the issues and facts of this interaction with this business.

For the BBB, I am wanting to know what recourse or actions are possible, if any.

    Thank You,

I paid for 2022 tax return services and amendment services. In return I received a rude, disrespectful, unprofessional tax professional. I accept that my tax return had to be mailed in due to an error on the individual that filed my daughter's taxes. But it's now 9 months and the *** still have not received my return. Making me feel as it was not mailed. Funny thing is as I spoke with the *** the last 3 months they also felt as it was not mailed. When asked to provide the receipt showing it was sent via certified she did not provide that information that is needed only her flip mouth. I just want people to know about this establishment prior to them allowing anyone to do their taxes. Almost $1000 out my pocket with nothing to show. Especially when you have kids on college. I just want what's owed to me an apology or something.

************ claims her grown children with jobs on her taxes. She has done this for two years in a row.

Her grown children with the jobs file their own taxes individually, apparently not telling their mother (************).

Ms. ***** taxes were filed for 2022 and rejected to be received electronically due to her daughter filing her own taxes, she asked me to redo her daughters' taxes and fix them so she could claim her as a dependent to get more of a refund.

Her daughter is not my client, and I cannot do that, since ************ was rejected electronically she has to file by mail.  Her taxes were mailed. This has communicated to her multiple times.

My firm is a tax and accounting firm, we prepare taxes, we cannot get into family issues with grown children filing their own taxes and we do not call the *** as we do not have a power of attorney on ************ so that would be fraud if I called claiming to be her.

If she called the *** as stated they would tell her if they had them or not, if they do not, then resubmit them.  The *** does not open the mail so who's to say.  They are very behind and short staffed and has been since Covid.

My firm does not issue government checks on behalf of the *** or the *********** on behalf of the tax payers.

I rec'd threating text regarding this issue stating for me to call *** for her and to GET HERMONEY,  I have the text if you would like to see them.

************ was and has been charged for tax preparation only, that is the service that has been provided.  If she is in need of any other services at that point, she will request the service and pay for it to be done. That has not been the case. Tax Prep only.

I can provide you the invoices as well as text sent to me on Sept 15 2023 the 6 text with lies and threats to me and my firm.

After the Sept 15th episode I can't do business with her, so I fired/removed her as a client.  I have the right to that, letting her know that she will be happy somewhere else.  She will never be a client of my firm again.

    Thanks and Happy Holidays
