I had a manager accuse me of not being me. Her name was ******. And she asked me multiple times for my personal information. And after giving it to her she said "I don't believe you and I don't believe I'm speaking to a 72yr old woman" I found this to be very rude and very disrespectful and discriminatory. And I don't appreciate being called a liar. And when I requested to speak to her supervisor **** ******* they refused to give me his email for me to contact him. I was told I had to go through the customer service AGAIN to speak to him! On top of this I was charged a $60 disconnect fee when my service was never disconnected. And they refused to credit it back! They have all kinds of fees and charges that they will randomly charge for no reason whatsoever and they refuse to help any of their customers. Since they have $335.5 million in revenue they can refund me my $60. I expect a refund and an apology from ****** and **** *******Initial Complaint

Hi I made 2 payments to sawnee EMC one on 08/02/24 for $15 and one on 08/09/24 for $50. Today. 08/12/24, I received emails stating my account had a low balance and my electricity would be cut off. It was cut off and I was forced to add another $15 to my account. According to them I made a payment of $10 that was rejected. My bank shows no charge, no reversal and I received no email regarding this payment. They are stating the $10 was declined and charged my account a $50 penalty for it. I was never notified of this until I reached out to them regarding the issue. I still haven't a received any formal notification about this charge and they could only tell me that my bank declined the payment but as you can see there is no charge or reversal on my account. ********************** refused to take any responsibility for this issue and all I want is for the $50 penalty to be reversedInitial Complaint

Sawnee EMC told me a $1750 deposit was due to start service. They explained this deposit would be retuned after 30 months of good payment history. Today after 30 months they are now telling me the deposit can only be returned when the service is terminated. Sawnee is essentially holding my money ****** on a basic needed service. My credit is perfect and my account is in excellent standing.Initial Complaint

I have on recording, this business coming on to my property to trim trees away from the power lines, which is all well and good. However, in doing so they damaged my property in an amount exceeding $3,000. Their response to the property damage they caused was to tell me its not that bad and is just cosmetic. They wanted the gentleman responsible for the damage to throw some concrete on it and make it look better. They refuse to involve insurance and I am now having to go after them to do the right thing. Any business that comes onto your land and damages any structure on said land should be willing to make it right. For this reason, Sawnee EMC partakes in questionable business practices that leave its clients wronged and uncompensated. What they have done is potentially illegal as well.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:********************** tried to convince me that the damage to my property wasnt worth having repaired. Its saddening to know that Sawnee believes that when they damage peoples property, that if they deem it to be minor enough that they can just let it slide. Any unjustified damage to ones property deserves to be corrected properly and professionally. I dont want someone to come repair my property under the table. I would welcome an inspection and repair completed by Sawnees insurance but I reject their off the books approach.
Sincerely,
*********************************Business response

I am rejecting this response because:As I previously stated. I reject the solution Sawnee wants to push forward. It is not a reasonable, respectful, or professional approach. The matter is closed. My insurance is already on it and will deal with what your company has done.
Sincerely,

I have had Sawnee EMC since 2009. I have no choice to have them because there is no other option. This is how unfriendliness goes when others have no options. On September 11, I get an cutoff notice from Sawnee EMC for September 13th. I go online and make a arrangement for the amount to come out my account on September 15th. On the 15th the amount comes. On September 18th I got a past due bill for $60.00. I called Sawnee EMC and spoke to *************************** and emailed her my arrangement. ***** states to me I did not make a payment arrangement, I made a scheduled payment, so I owe then reconnect fee for not paying by the cut off date. My electric was never turned off. So I asked what is the difference, she stated one is a payment arrangement and one is a scheduled payment. I have to call to make a payment arrangement. I told her it was late and they were closed, so I made it online. I asked why didn't my electric get cut off, if I did not make a payment arrangement. She stated because I made a scheduled payment and that is why I am being charged $60 for a reconnect fee, that was never disconnected. So now she is annoyed with me when I asked for a supervisor she states she is one and she is not waiving the $60 but she can add it my bill. I do not feel I owe a reconnect fee when nothing my electric service was not disconnected. I would like the $60 waived.Business response

As stated in the complaint details provided by ****************, an invoice was generated on August 30, 2023 and the invoice provided a "Important Notice of Disconnection" indicating the account is subject to disconnection on September 13, 2023. The Notice also states "If payment in full is not received prior to this date, a security deposit and applicable fees will apply...". Once the date of September 13, 2023 was reached and payment was not received, Sawnee EMC began the process / steps to disconnect the account for non-payment. The payment was scheduled by **************** for September 15 (2 days after the printed / stated disconnect date) and although the account was not physically disconnected resulting in the power being cut off, there were several steps already completed in the disconnect for non-payment process by Sawnee staff which resulted in a service charge of $60 being applied to the account. **************** utilized the "payment arrangement" process in August of 2023 and Sawnee EMC would have provided another payment arrangement in September 2023 if she contacted the *********** and requested it. As a reference for any future calls which need assistance from a CSR, the hours of operation for the Sawnee EMC *********** is 7am - 7pm (Monday - Friday) and 8 am - 5 pm (Saturday).Initial Complaint

The service when you call in is non-existent. You are always to blame, and treated like a number not a customer. This is on one of their logos: "we are more that electricity, we are service" That being said, this customer does not believe it at all! The smart hub online billing system is very counter-intuitive. In my opinion, it is a collection system. When is the last time they have a system audit? The fees they charge for NSF, when it is not is highway robbery. If we had a choice in providers I would leave. I was charged $350 plus $50 fee. I want to speak directly to the *** ***********************************. **************** said call in and speak to a supervisor which will go nowhere. Very upset and need resolution. I want ALL fees refunded!Business response

On 05/18/2022 a payment was made in $118.57. When I was reviewing the electricity statement, I read the prior statement of $102.97. I called my credit company and was advised to file a correction. Today on 06/07/2022 I was called by EMC Sawnee for the outstanding charge and I agreed that I made an error of misreading the statement but was told that I was charged $50 dollars fees. I tried to dispute the $50 charge because it's the fee that they charged for a returned payment which it is not reasonable to pass the costs of doing business to a customer and the customer service rep and the manager were not helpful indicate it was my fault.Business response
