I hired W-Woodworks to complete work on my property. W-Woodworks bid for the job at $27,000. The work started the week of 11/22/2021. The job should have taken approximately 3 weeks to complete. I have paid a total of $17,666. I complained to the owner about the quality of work numerous times throughout the course of 13 weeks that I had contact with the company. On 02/21/2022, I found out that the work required a permit. I contacted the local permit office and was informed that W-Woodworks was responsible for securing a permit. The owner, Jordan C******** informed me that the permit was not part of the contract and that I would have to secure it and schedule an inspection. When I tried to obtain a permit, I was told by the local permit office that W-Woodworks license did not allow for a job over $24,999 and the permit would deny. They advised me to move forward with the permit in my name so that I could schedule an inspection. The inspection was 03/10/2022 and the work failed inspection. The inspector encouraged me to file a complaint with the BBB. He told me that the structure would not only fail inspection but the quality of work was well below par. I was also told by the local permit office that because W-Woodworks failed to permit the job and bid above their license, that I might have a breach of contract case against W-Woodworks. At this time, I don't plan to file a lawsuit. However, W-Woodworks has threaten me with legal action. At this point, I have to hire another contractor to finish the job so that it will pass inspection. I don't trust W-Woodworks to finish the job. Also, there have been several incidents of angry outburst from Jordan C********. One incident was witnessed by my three children. I do not feel I owe W-Woodworks any more money and I would like to have no further contact with Jordan C********.

This entire statement reeks of a scam artist.  The client has seemingly managed to steal $9,334 of my hard earned pay, but this will be the final ounce of my time and energy that will be taken from me.  As of this writing, you can find my company with a perfect 5 star rating with extensive reviews detailing the quality of work and the joys of collaborating with us anywhere that you look on the internet.

The original bid on the work was for $12,940.  Following that, the client had me draw up a bid for “the entire deck”, which came to $24,160.  The proposal was made in such a manner as to give the client a fantastic price and keep the total well within my license’s allowance.  After spending the time and energy to work up multiple proposals, I was informed that we would shop around to seek other quotes to compare them with.

After 13 MONTHS of not hearing anything regarding the project and proposals, and presumably not finding anything more affordable, the client contacted me to ask if i would still honor the original quote.  Despite the the surging inflation and lumber costs, I chose to honor the quote.  As we continued into the details and scheduling of the project, the client then asked if we could work out a way for me to foot a larger part of the bill upfront than the customary 50% to assist with the materials.  This negotiation allowed for a larger sum to be hanging in the balance unpaid.  Finally, just before we finalized the signing of the contract, the client upgraded the handrail materials bringing the total cost to $25,000 and the maximum allowance for my contractor’s license.  We have a detailed contract signed by both parties outlining the exact work to be performed for full payment.

One thing the contract DID NOT specify was any timeframe whatsoever that the project would be completed in.  An outdoors project, in the winter months of November and December; doesn’t lend itself to being able to make any firm deadlines, and none such were made in this instance.

As we began work on the project with contracts signed and materials ordered, the client continued to add unrelated projects, which resulted in a final addendum, or change order, bringing the cost of the project to the aforementioned $27,000.  There are signed contracts for original amount, as well the new contract with the added projects that clearly show the distinction between projects.

These “complaints” about the quality of work were actually manipulative attempts to have me do things not specified in the contract for free of charge.  For the first part of the project, some of these requests were honored as an act of goodwill and for the sheer passion i take in my work.  Soon after, it became evident that if I didn't stick to the tasks cited in the contractual agreement, that she would continue to take advantage of me.  It was here where the relationship got tense, and any perceived “angry outbursts” were, in actuality, just an honest contractor trying desperately to weather the onslaught of deceit and manipulation displayed by the homeowner on a daily basis.  There were never any children present on the job site to witness customer/ client interactions.

We broke forchristmasand left the entire project safe and clean, and planned to resume after the holidays.  In addition, I was clear and direct about having to potentially take a break from the project to care for my dog after his impending surgery to amputate one of his legs.  As I was home caring for my 3 legged dog with his recovery, I was informed that if I did not agree to perform an extensive list of tasks that were not included in the contract, then i would be banished from the property and she would hire another contractor with the remaining balance owed to me.  After a series of documented correspondence targeted at finding a resolution didn’t succeed, the client scheduled an inspection on unfinished work and refused to allow me to meet with the inspector to represent my work.  She literally had them inspect unfinished work so that she could attempt to break contract and slander the integrity of my business.  She even retained some of my tools.  All of this now is a painfully obvious confirmation of the premeditated work of a con artist.

We will not let one bad apple ruin everything that we have worked hard to build or deter the path we are on to becoming Chattanooga’s premiere outdoor living space contractor.  Don’t hesitate to call us for all of your woodworking needs so we can do great things together!

I am rejecting this response because:  The information submitted by the company is inaccurate.  See the attached sample of photos to attest to the poor quality of work performed by the company as well as a copy of the last txt'd that I received from the owner, Jordan ********.  I have additional photos if needed.  I also recently received an invoice from a company where the owner, Jordan ******** appears to be using my address as his billing address for another job.  I would like no further contact from this company of any form, txt'd, email, invoice or any other means of communication.

    Sincerely,
    ******** ********

As we previously mentioned, we will not entertain any more of the client’s desperate attempts to justify breaking a signed and written contract and not paying almost $10,000 for services rendered.  With each successive variation, the claims become more pathetic and outrageous.  We are not using anyone’s address as a billing address.  This entire complaint process has proven to be nothing more than a reckless excuse for an obvious scam.  We wish her the best.
