I hired ***** Hardin to put a subfloor in the bathroom & patch the garage where the flashing had come loose & rotted 2 sections. ***** told me he could get the job done. We supplied a piece of plywood for the ************* had to buy the materials for the garage. He bought stuff for the garage and wood from his home. ***** was originally hired for 10/5 but cancelled as he forgot that his daughter birthday party so we agreed for 10am on 10/6. I was running behind, I arrived at 10:29 AM he arrived at 10:35/ 10:40AM. I believe around 11:30 11:45. ***** left for supplies & grab lunch apparently & he returned about 12:35. He worked in between the extreme amount of phone calls from his family. At one point his wife came without my permission to pick up a pair of shoes from his vehicle. Which I found it rude he didnt ask me during the estimate his family kept calling him. When I went into inspect the floor was kind of dumbfounded as he had a solid sheet of plywood to work with and the edge near the bathtub had three very crooked/ choppy pieces of plywood. The hole and filler cut for the toilet base is appalling He didnt adhere the floor he missed every stud he used facia nails for the floor. You can see the nails in the basement. He didnt put the paper/ liner under the plywood for protection. He did not drain the lines from the toilet and the new subfloor warped overnight. His excuse was there was no shut off valve. How was he supposed to drain it? I explained it wasnt the line. It was the pipe it ran down the pipe and his excuse was well thats why we put the bucket there. I put a plastic bin under it just in case When I came outside, was rushed as I work at 1 AM and didnt look around. ***** did not acquire the proper supplies to even closely match The garage. He didnt clean up after himself outside and nails were everywhere my brother did a full inspection on Monday 10/7 and pointed out the issues! Hes refunding $110 via mail!Business response

First of all, Laura Dennis is not the client her brother is Scott Dennis Laura Dennis recommended us to her brother. I did the job the best I could with the supplies I had even attempted to fix the situation because we have a 30 day guarantee we were flat out told not to come back we don’t give refunds but we made an exception and sent $110 refund check certified in the mail for them being unsatisfied with the garage repairs when it comes to the plywood, I put in the bathroom that they provided I edged up the wood the best I could to the tub that was in there All I did was remove the toilet so I can put the new Plywood in toilet supply line did not have a shut off valve and I was not there for Plumbing Plus, water does not cause wood to warp within 24 hours. When it comes to my wife calling me multiple times and showing up at the property she has every right to. She’s co-owner of this company attached our photos of our conversation through Facebook. This complaint is invalid We tried to rectify the situation before we sent $110 refund checkCustomer response

I am rejecting this response because:hi Laura Dennis, I am the client as the house is my house. My brother Scott Dennis is the power of attorney so he has the financial. Kevin did not need to know that information. Kevin was hired to do a job that he blatantly failed that. If Kevin is a professional, he should’ve known that the plywood provided was not the correct supply and he should’ve rectified that at the time. As far as the garage, Kevin supplied his own material, which he clearly did not get the correct materials.
as far as the wife/business partner calling multiple times, it can be sugarcoated however it wants to be, but when the wife comes to pick up shoes, I really don’t think that’s business. You don’t invite someone to a job when the homeowner is there without their knowledge, especially for a pair of shoes. .
Kevin has stated that there was a check mailed or going to be mailed with a tracking number on 10/7/24. We have not been provided the tracking number and the check has not arrived!!
Sincerely,
Laura DennisBusiness response

Laura Dennis was provided with the tracking number today we sent a certified letter and sent it with tracking with $110 refund check from our bank because they were dissatisfied with the work of the garage like I stated before the garage was over 70 years old and should have just been torn down. We were doing this to help out. We use the supplies that we could that were close enough to fix the repairs since they no longer make the material for that type of garage and when it comes to the bathroom, we are not refunding any money because we used their supplies that they provided and it was our labor and timeCustomer response

I am rejecting this response because:That is correct. I was given the tracking number yesterday. I just got off the phone with the post office and they said that the tracking number was initiated on October 11, after Kevin stated that the check would be mailed out on October 9 and October 12 is somewhere in the USPS system. It’s location be on identified.
and for the status of my garage, that is none of Kevin‘s business. He was not hired to give us thoughts and opinions on the condition of my garage. He knew he was supposed to patch the garage. We are fully aware of the status of the garage. And as I stated earlier in previous conversation here, if Kevin were a professional, he would have known what supplies he could use to replicate the supplies that are not available. There would not be several holes or splits in the wood. It would not look like my handicap four year-old granddaughter got a hold of it, and if were a true professional, he would’ve known that the material that we supplied for the bathroom was not adequate to get the job done. My brother and I are not carpenters nor are we contractors We are basic DIY people That knew we could not get the job done the way it was supposed to be done That’s why we hired what we thought was all the above. I think the pictures speak for their selves on the quality of work that Kevin provided or should I say lack of quality. Period so at this point, Kevin needs to stop pointing the fingers at us and own up to what he did not do which is the job he was hired to do properly!!
Sincerely,
Laura DennisInitial Complaint

Hired this business to replace drywall and paint in my basement that had water damage. The tear out had already been done. I didn't find out until after I hired them that they were doing this on the side. They worked off and on for almost 4 weeks. I had to continuously check there work and tell them how I wanted it. So many times that they couldn't come and work for what ever the reason would be. ***** was leaving on 8/1/24 to go on vacation. He told me they would be done prior to this. Towards the end of the job he asked me for more money as he had under bid the job. I agreed as long as the work was done correctly. On 7/30/24 they were here working. Him and his brother. He asked if we could talk. I called him to see what was going on. He told me they had done a test area in the basement for primer and paint. He said it was to cold in the basement for this and it wouldn't stick to the walls this way. I had looked at the work prior to the arriving that day at 5:30 pm. Nothing was even close to being ready to paint. He also said this was the reason the drywall mud wasn't drying. After almost 4 weeks of work and he just now telling me this. After looking at the work prior to their arrival and seeing how rough most of it was. You could see seams in the drywall that were never taped prior to mud work and various other short cuts had been taken. I decided to tell him he was done working. Take his tools and send me a bill for what I owed. Which I paid the next day after being pressured to do so so he could pay his brother before he left town. I had another contractor look at the work to day and a lot of it is going to have to be redone. Tape cracking in seams, no tape in seams. I'm going to have to pay someone else to finish this. I feel he owes me back at least half the money I paid him so I can pay to get his work correctly done.I have uploaded his original estimate. For some reason I can no longer access the final bill from his textBusiness response

I am rejecting this response because:Their answer is ridiculous. I feel they owe me back the $3500.00 that I had to pay another contractor to fix the work they had done. I have attached some pictures and have many more. If they are nit willing to do **** then I will have no other option than to take them to small claims court.
Sincerely,

There wasnt any issues with the repairs until on a Sunday afternoon. The fire alarm in the basement went off due to drywall dust and Adt had to be called and they called the fire department. The homeowner was very upset that his wife had an emotional scare, cause she was in *********, and thought the house was on fire our painting contractor had mentioned multiple times it was too cold in the basement coming from a professional painter. Thats been doing this for years. The night that we told the homeowner that we were not gonna be able to continue because the basement was too cold He told us to get our s*** out of his house and to send him a bill for what he owed before we could even start removing the tools his wife and himself started removing our items from their house Not only did that happen. The homeowner decided to tell ***** Hardin co-owner of the company, I should come over there and smack the f*** out of you. Which is a threat and his wife told him to knock it off and let it go we even tried to work things out with the homeowner and he just decided they wanted to be done Which is understandable, but we have a family to feed and we already gave him significant 25% discount on top of additional discounts for the paint and the painting. We did not do we feel that we do not owe This customer anything.
