On July 30 I approved a list of work to be done on my 1989 ****** Truck. That list of work came to $800 in labor and parts. Additional work was discovered to be needed. There was no estimate or quote, just a verbal guesstimate that was never followed up with a quote for costs.I was too busy and did not contacting ***** ******* for three weeks to a month. When I asked the status of the job, he stated he had been too busy with another job and had not worked on my ******. We texted back and forth with ***** claiming I had authorized more work than the list I had approved. ***** claims that the approved work revealed that a lot more needed to be done. He sent a text stating that it will cost another $2,512.80, and that I already him over $2,000. On October 10, 2024, He towed the truck to our property. It was quite disassembled with parts in the cab and bed of the truck. I expressed my frustration at his lack of providing a written/text or email costs before performing any additional work, much of the original work having been undone to perform the additional work. We discussed the fault was with him for an unprofessional job, and me for not having stayed in touch better, perhaps avoiding a bad outcome. I paid $900 to him then, while he agreed to drop the amount owed to $1,761.40 leaving a balance owing of $861.40 In spite of my belief that I was not being honestly treated I agreed to pay the balance soon. Being human, I will pay it, but it will be in three monthly payments of $287.13 starting on November 1, 2024. I do not expect the BBB to create a different outcome to the issue. I accept fault for not being careful and insisting on paperwork in hand as this progressed.
