    Universal home improvement Replace entire roof plywood/shingles Total $17,464 material and workmanship The contract states that I got a $2,000 credit to pay within 30 days. I only used $1,300. Universal was installing my front neighbor roof. I approached the owner ************************* to give him the check of $1,300. And asked him for all the paperwork regarding the warranties of material and workmanships the document that stated the village of Lansing inspection passed. He send warranties to my email with the exception of the prove of roof passing the inspection, He told me everything passed belief me I will send it as soon I get in the office, Trust me,just like I give you that credit. Just like I trust you. In order to just get over with. I went to village of Lansing and find out he fail two times, for ************* He never passed. The next thing after a heavy rain it was water in my house by the chimney I went and speak to the building commissioner he him self, Add caulking just to help until, Universal could respond and resolved all the issues. Is a nightmare when we went to the attic all the plywood has big gaps, the v valley can see shingles the underpayment is missing in that portion. During the winter all the roof was wet. They left the intake of the air flow in the soffit full of debris from old plywood and old shingles and refused to even answer my calls any more. I have 5 kids 2 dogs the roof is full of mold. Two of my kids are waking up with red eyes very often. **** is already not responding any more. I have no idea how my family is going to make it thru the winter. Please help us. I dont trust Universal and will like my full refund of $16,164.54 to hire another company to fully remove and replaced plywood/shingles.

    I am rejecting this response because:

     

    The entire plywood newly installed by Universal Home Improvement
    Is poorly installed, theres big gaps(up to 2/3 inches apart between sheets of plywood. You can see the poor installation of underpayment, shingles are exposed. Is visible going in the attic. Building Commissioner of Lansing came to check water was getting in my house thru the chimney flashing (poorly installed) by Universal Home Improvement. Building Commissioner was here when the entire roof was soaked and wet. And he also took pictures of all the gaps between the plywood. I will like to also mention and add pictures of the cuts how poorly they cut the Plywood. Indescribable And thats the reason. ****************** is not going to passed the roof inspection with pictures. Because the better picture, it self is visible to the eye. The old roof was 20 yrs old and I never saw visible mold it had water damage but never saw mold. **** never mentioned before until now. The ventilation the intake of my house was full and covered with debris that Universal Home Improvement left after removing the old plywood and old shingles  plus many nails and dust.(shingles dust).After they removed the entire roof they couldve clean the debris, but they choose not to do so. And left my house with aproxmate of only 30/40% of the ventilation.
    The new ridge vent is shorter than an usual roof of my house size. (Yes poor ventilation) from the ridge vent.
    As professional roof installers they shouldve known how important is the intake for a roof. The company that Universal home improvement send never when in the attic, the worker just lift the cover and told me she couldnt get in there. She was to big to make it to the attic. Didnt use a tool, machine or any thing professional to mesure ventilation. And in addition she told me not knowing that the new soffit was already installed, extra ventilation was already added. She told me that my house needed more ventilation, with out any inspection. Nothing. **** is no longer taking my calls his receptionist already told me that he havent heard from him in months To call his cell phone.(****) the owner.
    I will provide pictures. Im not only doing this complaint for me. I hope this doesnt happen to anyone else. Universal Home improvement is very unprofessional is it doesnt deserve to be certified. By BBB
    I took this accreditation as my first source to hire this company. Please! Review Universal Home improvement
    Not all home owners can check their attics. Universal Home improvement can make many excuses to one issue
    But there is many major issues.
    -Plywood installed with big gaps up to 3/4 inches apart.
    -Underlayment poorly installed (shingles visible)
    -Water leaking thru the Chimney (chimney flashing poorly installed)
    -Bridge vent (short for my house size)
    -The entire roof was soaked and wet during the winter. Now left with
    Mold.
    -****************** fail 2 times the inspection before I was aware of any of these issues.
    -**** president and owner of Universal Home Improvement told me and insured me that everything was perfect and that ****************** passed the inspection the first time. Why Universal Home Improvement provide me with false information?  
    I did spend Thousands of dollars adding unnecessary ventilation for my house.
    Just to do as much is possible and everything to address everything. Now that 3 roof companies where here and told me how the bridge vent was short and how the debris was clogging more that have of the ventilation. Im aware of how much more after the expenses of the roof I have lost.  Please help us! My family.
    COVID send to coma 5 siblings  one of them my Dad we lost 3 my dad survived.
    Very hard Times my dad was in coma wile my roof by the kitchen was leaking. I checked Universal Home improvement trust they were gonna do a professional job. Its catastrophic.

    Promising free roof and sidding. There are deductibles required to be paid by law, false advertising. I'm on do not call list. They called to solicit me to do a insurance claim to pay them. *******************************, please give me my $1500.

    This a false statement and a scam due to the matter of we have no call history under this name nor any contract under this name in our CRM. We attempted to call this number that was provided here and is a disconnected number that doesn't exist. I am requesting to remove this complaint that has nothing to do with our company.

    I purchased a roof from Universal Home Improvement in 6/27/17 for over ******. The roof has a workmanship warranty. The roof began to leaked inside of home down the interior wall to the point you call hear the water running inside of the wall and the owner ******* sent a contractor during the winter to repair it. I inform the owner that the roof was not installed the same way as the exact home in my subdivision around edge. He stated their is nothing wrong with his work. My roof leaked again in the same area with wall damage. The inspector stated that the roof shingle and flashing is not properly installed in that area of my roof. The township inspector has spoken to his assistant and she stated it was a temporary job. I have sent pictures to ****************** and he texted "I got It".I have emailed both the owner and his assistant regarding the matter. I have left messages with the company and employee told me he will get back to me in ************************************************************************************************************ my home. I would like a repair as soon as possible.

    Universal Home Improvement (***) is very committed to making sure their customers receive the best professional and quality service. We give each customer individualized service to fit their needs. *** provides each customer with quality materials and follow-up on each property. *************** did contract with *** to replace her roof. She not only had us to do work but other contractors as well. 
     
    Whenever she has called *** followed up to see what the problem was and made sure we addressed her concerns. We have followed up with her numerous times to address any needs or concerns which she may have had. *************** has indicated that the roof and was not properly install the same way other homes that have installed in the area were. Universal Home Improvement does not discriminate or differentiate on how we install roof. We use superior materials and professional craftmanship of people who have been during this type of work for years.  As the owner of the company have sent worker out to address her concerns, as well as I have come out there myself to make sure any problems or concerns have been addressed. I do provide each customer with a five-year warranty on labor and a manufacture also has a warranty on materials. 
     
    I have had my assistant speak with her about her concerns, as well as myself each time she has called.  *************** did contact the village inspector, and I as the owner of the company came out to her property to address her concern. I made sure I inspected the roof on the property to make sure there were no leak or cracks in the roof, as well as all materials (flashing, etc.) were properly installed. I did let her know that I had been out there did not receive any communication back from her until this complaint came in. I did communicate with her prior to her expiration date but we did not get response back from her. She requested that *** come out which I as the owner did to inspect the roof again saw no issues that would have cause any concerns with leaking or anything else. There is one piece of flashing that we put on the roof to make sure it doesnt leak, and *************** has complained about that but that is placed there when we installed the roof to secure it from any water or anything getting in from the crevasses on the roof. With the five-year warranty being expired *** has done all it could to address what she perceives to be a problem created from ***., weeks before the expiration of her 5 year warranty.  *** always follows up with their customers and has followed up numerous times with *************** concerning her issues.

    Universal Home Improvement has not come out to my home to fix this problem. I have email ****************** in January and called numerous time. I have not had anyone beside Home improvement 

    to any repair to my roof. When my roof leaked ,he sent one contractor to my home in the winter. Mr. ******* came and took pic of my roof and side the area that I was concerned about was fine.

    i did not call the inspector for this concern ,as we spoke of my concern I mention I has a problem with my roof. The town inspector call the company, because I said I could not get the company to

    respond. I have not waited for this concern .His assistant was talked to and I sent a picture to him nonths before the warranty expiration date. Either he is getting on a plane to ***** or is in *****

    and will get back to me. No one has repaired the area on the roof accept this company.I reach out to the BBB for assistance .  I have not received a call back, letter, or email from Mr. ******* . I am calling and asking them for help this this issue.The Company have not repaired the area my roof to the standard they stated.

    Please advise the company I would like the area of my roof to repaired properly. Thank You.
