I've had Stericycle for a couple of years. Over the past year and a half , they have been missing pickups and continue to bill my account. I have tried to file the complaint with management and have asked them to close my account on several occasions and they disregard my request or ignore my request. I have spoken to the manager *** and she continues to make excuses of why the company continues to bill me , but not pick up the waste. They have reschedule time and time again, while my boxes continue to pile up. They have shown up on days that my practice is closed, even though they have the correct hours of operation. I have tried to cancel my account on several occasions and the customer service representative will state someone will call me back in 10 days with no call back. There is no where to cancel on their website. I am afraid they will send me to collections for unpaid balance. Why would I pay a balance when they haven't rendered services. This company is horrible and should be shut down. They were suppose to pick up today according to their website and they haven't shown.Business response

Stericycle **** account was set up for supplies on August 2, 2024. They showed up a day early, and I was not there to get the supplies and sign for delivery. They left and never returned. I needed the supplies before August 19th for an inspection with *** because I did not have the hazardous material.DPH did not give me the certificate. I called back to Stericycle and asked them to close the account I will not be dealing with them. The first cancelation request was made on 9/6/2024, and I was told they would cancel the account. Here is the ref # for that call: Ref # ********. I then get a collection letter threatening me with this going into collection. I spoke to Rey, who transferred me to a supervisor from another department named *****. ***** gave me the case # below Case Ref #******** for cancelation on 01/15/2025. ***** said he would call me back once it is canceled.Business response

I have cancelled the service of Medical Waste collection in the Spring of 2024. I still receive invoices for the service and now it is in collections. The company still sends an employee to collect the medical waste and shredding of paper waste that i have cancelled. I also cancelled their shredding service in the Spring of ********************************************** collections. I have called numerous times and I have not had any luck with cancelling.Business response

In June 2024 I contacted Stericycle to cancel our services due to poor communications for scheduled pickups of hazmat materials. I've requested our contract be cancelled numerous times since June 2024. At this time, Stericycle has placed us in collections (though we have a credit on our acct).Business response

We have been in contract with this company for years. We realized how outrageous their fee's were and our contract was up in June 2024. We put our 60 day notice in to cancel services in April 2024. I have a written form to them. They continue to bill us at the point where they have now sent us to a collections agency. I have called them easily 2 times a month and they state that they are going to escalate our call to another team. Ticket# ********. This is a continued problem. We have another office that is in contract with them and we would like to get that cancelled due to their harassments. They do not follow up on my calls and we have exhausted all that we can do. This is not ok and this has become harassment and should be fraudulent at this point. We have done everything on our end and I need to bring it to your attention at what an awful company this is.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: My boss owns two dental offices. They have cleared our office of any fee's and discounts due to appropriate cancellation on our end. Which we are happy to see. Thank you for that help! Our boss does not want to continue his relationship at our other office location and I think as a courtesy we should be able to cancel our other office location due to the same owner. They are not allowing this due to a different office. We would like to disagree due to being the same owner who pays for these services. Is there anyway to get out of this? without paying their extremely high cancellation service?

The account/location notated in the initial BBB complaint has been cancelled per the customer's request. The secondary account/location ask was not a part of the initial BBB complaint. As a courtesy, we can confirm that the secondary account/location has also been cancelled and both accounts now show a zero balance.Customer response

I paid for a contract with Stericycle in November of 2023 for my business. I was told that I would receive pick **** I would check the website to see when a pickup was available however in 12 months time there never were any. I never received even ONE pickup. However Stericycle continued to charge me a monthly fee. I reached out to them in November of 24 finally asking them to cancel the account. A customer service agent said that they were not able to, but an account specialist would reach out within 10 days to do so. The account specialist didnt reach out until December by email, and when I immediately emailed and called her she never responded. In the meanwhile I received more invoices from them for services not rendered. It is now Jan 7th 2025 and no one from the business has followed through. They are prompt about billing but will ignore you purposely when you ask to stop your service so that they can continue to fraudulently charge you money.Business response

On 10/9/24, Stericycle/ShredIt was due to pick up our last medical office shredding service due to the problems with pick *** on our account, which was our reason for cancelling our contract. Stericycle billed us for DOS 10/9/24, despite their employees never coming to our office once again. I had let the company know that on the same day, 10/9/23, that no pick up was made. This had happened multiple times in 2023, where the company was billing us for false pick ***. We received a letter in December stating that our account is past due, despite us trying to rectify the missed pick up on the same day it was supposed to happen. I then on 12/16/24, emailed the ShredIt collection department and let them know about the error again and that we will not be paying for false charges. They did not respond to the email, but on 12/30/24 sent another email stating payment was not made; again and not addressing our concerns. I suspect this company is charging fraudulent charges to more than just our business, this had happened on 5 occasions in just 2024 alone to our business. Calling customer service is a near impossible task, where you are transferred multiple times and usually takes over 1-1.5h to resolve any issue. I have asked a supervisor to call me in the past and never received a return call. I have never seen a business function this poorly and backwards, we have not had ONE service in 2024 that did not have billing problems and even after we closed our account, the last service is having the same issues. We cannot get a response back and our account should not be in collections due to their error. The invoice should have only one DOS, 10/15/2024, which I will be happy to pay when I receive the correct balance. I have never seen a company that doesn't care about their services to this point.Business response

Stericycle provided shredding services for our company. We terminated services and received a confirmation that Stericycle had canceled the services and this included a reference number, yet this business is constantly sending invoices and final notices and sent our account to collections when there was nothing due. I have emailed ***** ***** at Stericycle regarding these notices on several occasions and there is no response. The same thing happened to another company I work for and we received the same level of harassment and lack of response after the service was canceled. We want the harassment to stop as nothing is owed.Business response

On 7/18/24 I made an agreement with this company in order to have medical waste picked up. A few days later I was having issues with getting this business to pick up the waste so I canceled the contract and the service was never performed. I sent an email just days later to **** ***** regarding the matter. I also canceled our contract with the shred it portion of this company. They since have sent me an email stating they performed services that were not performed and even used names of people who are no longer working here stating they signed off on the service. I have since then told them we will not pay for services we have not had on both sides the shred it portion or the removal of medical waste such as expired medications. They continue to harass us.Business response

I cancelled my service for medical waste management/disposal on September 9th 2024. I have continued to receive bills every month despite calling repeatedly--with no explanation or help--i received emails stating my request was being reviewed and once that my request for credit for overpayment denied. Phone operators seemed either incapable of understanding my issue. I called again on Friday Nov ******************************************************************************************************** September. The representative told me it would be cancelled this time- I have my doubts due to the mismanagement of my account in the past few months. I had used Stericycle for *************************************** year 11 with scheduling, billing but most importantly communication. They apparently changed management/ownership and it has been downhill ever since. Unfortunate. Maybe someone in management will read this and personally reach out. I hope my account is verifiably cancelled this time so I can stop making useless calls to the company.Business response
