I Took My Truck To A Mechanic To Be Serviced For Two Parts That I Needed To Pass My Emission Test. I Paid $600 Dollars After The Mechanic Said He Could Fix The Problem. When The Time Came To Pick Up My Truck And Take It Back To The Emission Place. It Did Not Pass And The Person Running The Test Stated That It Seemed As If No Work Was Done On My Car. I Proceeded To Take The Truck Back To The Mechanic And Told Him The Problem That Happened. He Guaranteed To Fix The Problem. He Kept My Truck Longer Than Expected. And When I Asked Him About An Update. He Stated That I Would Need A New Transmission. I Clearly Told Him That I Didnt Want To Pay For A Transmission Seeing As It Would Be More Than The Value Of The Car. He Stated That He Would Fix The Two Problems And Take It To The Emission Place Himself To See If It Passes. No Story Short He Put The Transmission In And Expects Me To Pay $3000 To Get My Truck Out After He Went Against What I Said. Im Not Willing To Pay That Amount. Ive Tried To Compromise With Him. I Asked Him To Lower The ************ As Far To tell Him To Put My Old Transmission Back *********** My Money Or Fix The Original Problem. Ive Called, Texted And Left Voicemails Without Any Further Contact From Him. I Strongly Feel Like Hes Sold My Truck Without My Permission.

My name is Mr. ******* ****** owner of Mexico Auto Repair. This is in rebuttal to the Better Business Bureau complaint filed by *** ****** ***** the owner of the 2008 ****** Armada, VIN#: *****************.

As I recall *** ***** took her vehicle in for a State of Illinois Emissions test and her vehicle failed. *** ***** brought her vehicle in on 08/01/2024 for repair. After running diagnostic her vehicle had a lot of problems that need attention including replacing all her sensors so her vehicle can pass the emissions test. The issues were: Check engine light was illuminated. Codes: P0850 (P-N Position Switch/Circuit. P1568 (Automatic Speed Control Switch). P61614 (Oxygen Sensor). For Those needed repairs she was charged $450.00. She paid the fee and her vehicle was released to her.

*** ***** took her vehicle to take the emission test again and her vehicle failed. *** ***** brought her vehicle back to Mexico Auto Repair on 09/14/2024. After the diagnostic another problem occurred that lead to her vehicle failing the emission test. The sensor on her transmission was bad and the only way to repair the problem is to replace the transmission (the transmission and the sensor are solid state) The code: P0448 (Vent Control Valve). P0850 (Power Train System). I informed *** ***** that the cost for the new transmission is $4,414.14. *** ***** stated she didn't want to pay that amount but she wanted to keep the vehicle and have it repaired and to told her "...she is a long time client and friend and I will work with her". She agreed. I purchased the transmission, installed it and test drove said vehicle and took said vehicle to take the emissions test and it passed on 10/11/2024.

I called *** ***** to inform her her vehicle passed the emissions test. She asked me how much its going to cost her and I told her"...I am not charging you labor and fuel costs for test driving the vehicle, The fee is $3,500. *** ***** stated that was too much. Then I brought the fee down to $3,000. *** ***** agreed. *** ***** and I agreed to not charge her storage fees for her vehicle and the fee we came to the agreement she would put down a payment of $1,500. As of  01/17/2025 *** ***** has not made the $1,500 payment.

As of  01/17/2025 *** ****** vehicle is still in possession of Mexico Auto Repair and I am waiting for the agreed upon payment from *** *****.

I am rejecting this response because: Thats Simply Not True. I Never Approved Of You Replacing The Transmission On The Truck. I Even Gave You The Option Of Putting The Old Transmission In And I Would Go Elsewhere. The Admission Test Only Gave Me 2 Codes. And I Also Paid You More Than $450.

    Sincerely,

    ****** *****

Hello, my name Mr. ******* ****** owner of Mexico Auto Repair. The purpose for Ms. ***** bringing her vehicle to Mexico Auto Repair was to pass the Illinois emissions test because it has previously failed Ms. ***** stated she wanted to keep the vehicle but the cost was too much for her to pay. I did not charge her labor, storage or gas fees for test driving the vehicle. I also paid for the new transmission. The agreement she and I came to is the total cost to her will be $3,500. The first payment was to be $1,500 as Ms. ***** agreed to. After the vehicle was repaired I test drive the vehicle for weeks and took said vehicle to the Illinois emissions and it passed.

I have not received the first $1,500 as we agreed upon.

The vehicle is still in Mexico Auto Repair storage. I want this matter resolved, what can I Do?

    Complaint: 22785826

I am rejecting this response because: I Dont Believe I Should Have To Pay For Something I Repeatedly Said I Did Not Want. I Talked With Him Several Times And One Of His Workers And Told Them All The Same Thing. Only Resolution To This That Would Suffice The Situation Is If He Puts My Old Transmission Back In And Return Me My Truck. I Dont Even Want The Money Back That I Paid Him To Fix The Original Problem. I Just Want My Truck Returned.

    Sincerely,
