On November 22nd, 2023, I purchased the premium subscription to Quillbot for the promotional price of $49.97, via my ****** account. On Nov 29th, 2023, I cancelled the autopay to make sure they did not renew my yearly subscription for the full price. On October 22, 2024, I received an email from Quillbot that my subscription was about to renew. I specifically told them to cancel my subscription to the service. However, when I checked my email this morning, I had a notification from ****** that Quillbot had charged my account for $99.95, without warning or consent. I do not know how they had access to my ****** since the autopay option had been turned off. When I contacted Quillbot about their mistake, they said that they could not refund me because their refund policy allows only one refund per account *ever*, and I had a refund back in September of 2023. I do no see how the refund policy applies here since the whole thing is their fault. I did not purchase the service and then refund it. I specifically told them to NOT renew the service and they did anyways. I want my money back.Business response

I've signed up to a Premium account of ********************** on Oct 2, 2024 and paid USD ***** (******* PHP) since I could not use some features without signing up to a Premium account. After an hour of using the app I wasn't satisfied with the result it's providing me and unsubscribed the same day. I was promised a refund but it's been 14 days already and no refund was issued. We have taken a look in our payment system, and our records indicate that these payments were refunded in the form of a reversal. What this means is that instead of a credit being issued to your account, the original charge itself will have disappeared from your statement as if it never occurred and the corresponding amount will have returned to your account. You should be able to speak with your bank or financial institution to verify this.

We can confirm that we have already initiated the refund for the transaction dated: September 1, 2024 for the *********************************************************. I scribed to Quillbot. I thought it was a lifetime membership but apparently they changed it to yearly Subscription. SO I went to cancel a month before renewal and of course the website wouldn't let me cancel. So I sent emails to customer service. This company ***** and I will start putting reviews all over the internet.Business response

I was charged for two separate items of which I never initiated. One was for $249, which was automatically refunded to my credit card. The other was for $49.97, which cleared my credit card. I called to dispute the charges; however, the customer service representative told me I signed up for a subscription. I contacted my credit card company, ********** and disputed the charge. Quillbot responded to ********** that it was indeed an accurate charge for which I was responsible. I have never purchased anything from Quillbot. I had never heard of the company prior to these charges. Please explain how I have ever purchased anything from Quillbot.Business response

There is no record of any requests or complaints lodged by this user with us. The user initiated communication with PayPal in order to file a dispute. As the user mentioned, we had already blocked and issued a refund for the one transaction that the user claimed to be fraudulent. A dispute was not raised with PayPal regarding the charge of $49.97 USD that the user incurred on November 24, 2023 , nor has the user raised a complaint with us that would require us to investigate further.
Furthermore, after conducting additional research, I have identified a premium account associated with the user's PayPal email address and that appears to be compromised. In order for us to proceed, we request that the user contact us directly or file a dispute with PayPal so we can assist them in having this resolved. We are unable to locate any payment details in the email provided by the user. Also, it appears that the user has made an effort to communicate with our support staff through the provided email address. To further investigate this transaction, our support agent has inquired about payment information. However, as of yet, the user has not provided a response.

I signed up for quillbot on February 9, 2023 for their Ai detection service and paid for the year but not long after I signed up they removed the ** detection service so I reached out to them to cancel my account and ask for a partial refund for the remainder of the 11 months. They then proceeded to tell me that they would not give me a partial refund because I did not ask for that within 3 days. Not only is the service that I paid for no longer available and therefore they broke their service contract, they are not willing to work with you to solve what should be an easy solution - a partial refund.Business response

Regardless of whether the ** detection tool was available or not is irrelevant. The point was that I cancelled my 12-month membership before the first month was up and instead of refunding me the remaining 11 months, I got a runaround and am still getting it with the most recent response from Quillbot. Rather than resolving the case, I'm getting a "you are wrong" response and that's just poor customer service so to anyone reading this message, if you are considering doing business with Quillbot, I would 0/0 recommend it.

As per our company policy, we offer a three-day cancellation period for all our products and services, within which customers can cancel their purchase and receive a full refund.

I can confirm that this subscription has been cancelled by a member of the support team and a refund has been initiated, as requested by the customer. It takes 510 days for our payment processor, Stripe, to issue a refund. If there are any issues with the refund, such as a double charge or not receiving the refund after 10 days, please contact us back and we will help you further.
