I purchased a 2010 Acura ZDX in January of this year. After purchasing I took it to my local Acura dealer for them to look it over. They recommend that I did not purchase the vehicle. I reached out to the sales person & the manager that was the previous owner of the vehicle, to void the deal per the 14 day Illinois return policy, neither responded. At this point I kept the vehicle paid for an additional $8k in repairs. Less than a couple months later the transmission light is on and it appears to be another pricy repair. Salespeople always get a bad reputation and this is why! Forking over $15k for an exclusive vehicle only to end up paying an additional $15k because of poor communication is ridiculous.Review from Janee L

HonestlyTerrible. ZERO stars. Certainly NEVER go there for repairs/service. Outright liars. These guys just flat out lied about us having a nail in the side of our CRV tire. (**** tires said no nail to be found)They also were unable to fix our Civic & lied about alignment so we took it to Brilliance Honda in Crystal ***** Seriously Elgin Honda - just crooks out to deceive you and take your hard earned money. I have had many issues with McGrath both sales and service I should have known to stop going. I purchased originally a 2012 ************** neglected to tell me it had been in a major accident. They refused to cover a damaged fuel system on a 2022 Odyssey in the summer for 2023 with 26k miles under warranty. They have the most ridiculous wait times, I was told on the phone it would take an hour, 2 tops because I would have 2 under 2 with me. Got there and the Service Lead or Manager, I believe his name was ****, said it would be a few hours, I clarified I had an appt and he said it was a minimum 2 hour wait to get the car back with an appt. What is the point of scheduling an appt if its not going to be evaluated at that time.Review from Rosemary B

BEWARE MCGRATH HONDA in ELGIN. We purchased a *CERTIFIED pre-owned 2019 Honda Odyssey, including extra expense of *EXTENDED WARRANTY in Aug 2022. On Dec 23, the car would not start. Required to bring it for service. They dont offer jump service, so had to tow to McGrath, using our insurance *** McGrath said we needed a NEW battery & NOT covered under warranty, altho less than 4 months since certification. We paid for battery, +install & over 2x cost at ANY other battery service *** Today, May 5. Brought car in for "free" oil change, & now told we need back brakes & wheel alignment... altho less than ***** miles added since purchase. They told us we must have hit something. NOT! Again, NOT covered under extended warranty for NORMAL maintenance. $800 for "free" oil change. Neither are NORMAL maintenance, occurring in such short time. Previously purchased an Odyssey from them, incl "free" car washes for life of vehicle... which lasted for 6 months, car wash machine broke down, was out of service for months, followed by new policy, requiring us to exit the vehicle & wait inside as car was washed! Going back to the 2019 Odyssey... We came to pick up vehicle after purchase & financing cleared, saying all good with the pickup appt... Waited over an hour, in an empty showroom, & at least half-dozen *************** people standing around gabbing, & were told that the car was not yet ready, as needed new ************* were not yet received! So another delay & more waiting to come back another day to pick up. Altho we previously received positive & trusted experiences with their ***************, recent experiences show they are no longer a reliable *********** ************** is not to be trusted again! We will NOT be purchasing at McGrath Elgin again, warning everyone we know. Most companies are going the extra mile to keep customers, but NOT McGrath Honda in Elgin! First time car buyer purchased a used Chrysler Pacifica 2017 touring at 69'500 drove it to 71'199 and it stopped working. - -No extended warranty- - High interest 22% (like my credit was the worst they ever seen or something) ****** monthly payments. Also I live roughly an hour from the dealer. I've lost money in tolls, towing and my down payment never even brought down the principal.What's worse is that their service guy "*************************" laughs at me for having it towed back even though one of their service techs already told me they'd to what they could to try and save on cost if I could get it there. This place is a potential nail in the coffin to anyone just getting started. I have to commit financial suicide and declare chapter 7 just to get out from paying for a car that doesn't work and I can't afford to fix. Please let everyone know to stay away. I enjoyed working with my salesperson, the management not so much. Especially *************************, a finance manager. I purchased a new vehicle outright and he titled my vehicle to the wrong address. Did a poor job owning up to his mistake, but none the less promised it would be fixed.Now 4/5 weeks later, it is still not fixed. He does not respond to messages and follow-up is poor and next to nonexistent. He didnt even confirm they received my wire transfer for the vehicle like he said he would. Basically, gave me their bank info, I wire the money and you dont hear back from them. Wow! I had to call my sales person the day after so she could try and confirm. The guy needs to take his job a bit more seriously.I sent an email to ****, another manager, since their survey email asked if there is an issue to reach out to him. They did title the vehicle wrong and promised to fix it, but what a shocker, I havent heard from him either.It is clear to me that Ill have to try to re-title the car myself and get everything corrected. If they or ************************* paid attention to their customers and followed through on things when they say they will, I wouldnt be writing this review.I did notify them right away that the title had the wrong address, but they sent in the paperwork to the state anyway. All because of *************************, if he were to check his messages or follow up with customers, this could have been prevented.Thank you McGrath Honda of Elgin management for making a simple full cash purchase experience of a new civic very difficult.Do yourself a favor, especially if youre a cash buyer, go elsewhere. This is the prototypical sleazy and dishonorable car dealership. This is the type of place that turns people to buying cars online. They misrepresented the price of the vehicle, lied about the cost of an extended warranty, and even had a pretend customer test drive the car as I was trying to close a deal. When I called them out on their unethical business practices they didn't even respond. They know what they did. Shame on me for not being more diligent. Shame on them for their shady business practices. I give one star because I had to pick something, but they deserve ZERO stars! Stay away!! STAY FAR AWAY!!Review from Steven M

Zero stars. McGrath Honda sold me a 3-accident vehicle as ******************** had not yet reported 2 of the accidents. McGrath exploited the delay in reporting situation and I paid a premium for what I believed to be a 1-accident Certified car but when I went to sell it I found out it was really a 3-accident car and I lost money on the value due to McGrath's shady tactics. ZERO STARS IF IT WAS POSSIBLE !!! WORST DEALERSHIP EVER !!! STAY AWAY!!!THE SALES PEOPLE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE **** OR PROMOTIONS . WE RECIEVED THE *** A WEEK LATE AFTER WAITING A MONTH. THE *** HAD A **** IN THE BUMPER .THEY ASSURED US IT WOULD BE FIXED . ALL THEY DID WAS ADD TOUCH UP PAINT AND THE BUMPER IS STILL DAMAGED . HAD THE *** IN THE SERVICE FOR 3 WEEKS OUT OF THE 8 WEEKS WE HAVE OWNED IT. A WEEK TO CORRECT THE **** AND INSTALL HONDA ACCESSORIES . BROUGHT IT BACK TO SERVICE A WEEK LATER CAUSE A BRAKE LINE BROKE. THEY TOOK OFF THE STEP **** THEY INSTALLED AND PUT IT BACK ON DAMAGING THE BOTTOM OF THE *** OR THE STEP **** CAUSING A GAP FROM THE **** TO THE *** . THEY HAD THE *** ANOTHER WEEK TO TELL US ITS FROM NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR . MIND YOU WE BOUGHT THE *** IN JULY OF THIS YEAR WE BOUGHT A EXTENDED WARRANTY AND ITS STILL UNDER HONDAS WARRANTY . BUT THEY REFUSE TO COVER IT . IF IT WAS INSTALLED CORRECTLY IN THE FIRST PLACE THE BRAKE LINE AND THE STEP **** WOULD OF NOT BROKE IN 5 WEEKS TIME. I WILL ADD PICTURES SOON AS WE GET THE *** BACK . IM SURE HONDA DOES NOT MAKE **** PARTS OR ACCESSORIES TO LAST 5 WEEKS. THE **** COVER WAS NOT CENTERED OR TAPE DOWN CORRECTLY . WE HAD OTHER ACCESSORIES INSTALLED BY THEM TOO AND NOW WE HAVE TO GO TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM CHECK THE WORK THEY DID AT ELGIN HONDA . WILL BE FILING A COMPLAINT WITH HONDA AND BBB
