I had signature endodontics perform 2 root canals on my teeth. This was my first time using the business. When i arrived i had to pay 1000 down and my insurance was billed. They performed the work that was asked of them. I felt very rushed through the whole process. They had me take tranqualizers before the appointment so i was asleep and had to have my mother drive me home. When i got home i was in terrible pain but thought it was normal simce i just had work done. The next day it was so bad i could hardly breathe. Since signature endodontics is nearly an hour from my location i decided to go to my normal dentist to have them see if everything was alright. When my dentist looked at my teeth they were appauled had what had happened. Signature endodontics had fused my teeth together with their filling material. They had to remove all of the filling that signature had added and unattach my teeth from each other. My dentist fixed all the issues immediatly relieving my pain. I was charged for my visit to the dentist. Also this whole time im missing work and losing money to pay bills. A few days later i get a bill from signature saying i still owe another 500+ to them. I called them and refused to pay and explained the situation and asked if they could resolve the problem. They said that they called my dentist and nothing was wrong and will send me to a debt collector if i didnt pay them. Now im getting letters and calls from a debt collector trying to collect a bill that i dont feel i have to pay since the job i paid for wasnt right. They will not help me in any way other than putting me on a payment plan. I want to wash my hands of them and never use them again. They got 1000 cash from me up front and 2000 from my insurance to cover what they could for this very high priced terrible job.

Thank you for choosing Signature Endodontics.  We Appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and we appreciate any and all feedback as it helps us improve our services.

Providing exceptional customer service is our number one priority and we sincerely apologize for failing to meet your standards.  We are disappointed to learn of the pain you experienced following your procedure, unfortunatly a small percentage of cases experience a post operative flare up.  In reviewing your case all standards of clinical care were met,  it is standard procedure to place a temporary restoration following the completion of a root canal.  The permanent restoration and crown are to be completed by your general dentist.

While we make every effort to estimate what your out of pocket cost will be, the exact amount to be covered by your insurnce is unknown until your claim is processed.  If you have further questions regarding your insurance coverage please contact your carrier.

I have reviewed the business' response and am rejecting it because: That isnt what happened at all. It wasnt a flare up. Also when i went to my dentist to fix it the next day they had to drill out the fillings and seperate my teeth since they were stuck together. They then added the same temporary filling material that you added without glueing my other teeth together with the filling filling material. I then had to go back to them at a later date to do what you are saying they did. Unfortunetly my primary dentist at that time was undergoing family matters and ended up selling his practice to another individual so during that time he didnt have the time to do my root canals. They referred me to signature endodontics. The day after my root canals when i went to my dentist was an emergency appointment that luckily they wete able to do what they did, but they didnt have time to do what you are saying that they did since the dental practice was running short handed of their primary dentist. I was charged for the emergency visit to fix the issue i had. When i had my actual appointment to finalize my root canals i had to pay there normal fees for those visits. Somehow the facts are getting confused about what actually happened. It was not a normal thing and my primary dentist staff were very surprised that the problem came from signature endodontics since they have had nothing else but good feedback. Between the time at work that i lost, the pain, and the cost of my emergency visit i dont believe i should owe signature endodontics any more money for a mistake that wasnt my doing. Normally im the type of person that pays my bills even if i dont agree with them, but this time i just dont see it being right for me to have to pay anymore than what my insurance company and I have already paid.

    Dear  Dispute Resolution Department H33373536353435**3639H:

We are submitting supporting information on complaint number 22254332 By the complainant ****** *******.

Tooth #** x-ray taken after treatment was completed.  While the margin is closed and this patient could not floss without pulling this material out, the teeth were not bonded together.
    Patients upper Left side.

Tooth #** patients lower right side.  This x-ray was taken at completion of treatment and shows that the filling is on the Distal (back side of the tooth)  the wisdom tooth #** behind this filling is still below the gum and impacted so again no teeth were fused together.
    Chart Notes
8/12/2024 - patient called in regards to not wanting to make payment. Says that he had to go to general dentist to get fillings corrected. Says that the fillings were so messy that his teeth were combined. Called his GD Dr ******* ***** ************** in regards to them charging the patient any additional payment for adjusting the filling. They didnt adjust the fillings, instead  did the corebuild up and crown. Dr ****** receptionsist states that on the chart notes in their office there are no comments stating that any treatment was done poorly. Will proceed with trying to get patient on a payment plan. BM

8/**/2024 - called pt in regards to setting up payment plan. ***. BM

8/15/2024 - pt doesnt want to pay the remaining balance. Says the experience wasnt worth the money. Let the patient know that since the *** was completed and the ** had no record of them saying  that the temp filling was sloppy, the remaining balance would be his responsibility. Patient is under the impression that the temporary filling had to be completely redone, unfortunately the patient is not understanding that the temporary material that was placed in his tooth was going to be replaced with a core build up and crown to preserve the tooth after the root canals were done.  In no way was it replaced due to being inappropriately placed.  This was again reiterated  to me on my phone conversation with Miss *** who is their front desk. Patient also mentioned throwing his account to collections because he doesnt care about his credit. Offered the patient another time a reasonable payment plan and the patient said he was not going to pay it. BM

9/13/2024 - Called *** in regards getting clarification on any charges the patient incurred for his emergency visit flowing his treatment in our office and she put Dr ***** ******* on the phone who stated that my ******* was never told that there were any issues with the fillings placed or the treatment done in our office, and that the fillings were done well,  it was decided that  #** would be replaced as the patient could not floss, not due to why the patient states it was replaced.  Dr. ***** also advised me that  on  May 16th when he was seen for that emergency appointment they did not charge him as well as expressed that the symptoms that Mr ******* presented with were normal symptoms following 2 root canal procedures done on the same day. BM

The above are all the chart notes we have in regards to conversations between our office and Mr. ******* and *********************** between ****************** *** (front Desk) and ******* ******.

On January 25, 2024, I went for root canal. Apparently there was infection and canals were treated and I was given a Rx for Cephalexin. I paid $1000 that appointment. On February 8, 2024, this appointment was to complete the root canal. That appointment cost me $2,023.A week later I went back due to gum infection in the treated area. The Endodontist using a scalpel drained the infection and put me on a prescription mouth rinse for infection. [On Feb 29, 2024, I went to my dentist and had the bridge and molar built up where root canal had been completed]On April 8, 2024, I went back to the endodontist due to extreme soreness and discomfort. The endodontist informed me the molar that had the root canal was broken in half and unrepairable. At that appointment the endodontist said she would speak to the office manager and return a partial payment. Since then, my phone call and message have not been returned. In my opinion, the endodontist, with all the advanced x-rays failed to see the crack in the molar, saw and proceeded anyway or the molar was cracked during the final root canal procedure. Now, I have to have the molar that had the root canal extracted by an oral surgeon. I feel it is proper for the endodontist to return the fees paid for that molar root canal so I can pay the oral surgeon to extract it. I should get back half what I paid.

Dear ****, Thank you for contacting the Better Business Bureau regarding your visits to our office.  You actually had 4 teeth evaluated and 2 teeth treated with root canal treatment.  You also had a protective restoration placed on both of these teeth.  One of your teeth had already had a root canal treatment and the tooth became contaminated and had to be retreated.  Tooth #2 was an initial Root canal  and the cost for this treatment was $1, 513.00.  you had a protective restoration to preserve the opening and prevent re contamination and the charge for this was $175.00.  Tooth #3 was a molar retreatment and the cost for this was $1,850.00. The treatment cost difference is due to having to remove the first filling material put in the 4 canals of this tooth irrigate and clean out the tooth and then replace the filling material as well as the protective restoration to ensure re contamination would not happen after treatment was complete for an additional $175.00.   The total treatment received cost was $3, 713.00.  The remaining $310 fees were the ** scan and exam to diagnose your issues and discuss treatment with you.  We always go over cost of treatment with our patients prior to proceeding with treatment.  You had an insurance benefit for services rendered of $1000.00.   We hope this helps explain your charges.  We would be happy to have you come into our office and sit down with us and we can go over your ledger line by line with you in person.

Dear ****, it has been brought to my attention that your tooth sustained a vertical root fracture and tooth #2 has to be removed.  ************ informed me that she advised that she would speak to me concerning this matter and we would report back to you.  Due to me being out of the office on April 10th, when this was discussed I was never apprised of this.  I spoke with ************ and she is going to refund you the root canal treatment cost of $1,513.00.  You should expect to receive your refund check by end of this week first of next week.  It will be mailed via united states postal service.

    Thank You

At Signature endodontics we make it a priority to make sure we answer and return phone calls and text messages.  I have enclosed copies of text messages and all phone calls between yourself and our office.  These documents show that we did receive and respond to your phone calls.  We would appreciate it if you would be so kind as to retract some of your statements made in your complaint about our company.  It is agreed that communication was lost in regards to the refund that was discussed between yourself and ************. We sincerely apologize for that.  We hope that you will find the resolution to your dispute satisfactory.

    Complaint: 21583708

I am rejecting this response because: The issue was not addressed. The endodontist, ************, said she would talk to the office manager and get me a partial refund because of the molar breakage. In my opinion, this infers she feels responsible for the breakage during the root canal procedure or failure to see the crack in x-rays before the root canal procedure on the molar.  The molar was unrepairable.
