I am writing to formally file a complaint against SAL Construction, a roofing contractor located at *** **** ********** ******* ** *****. On May 15, 2023 I entered into contract with SAL Construction to repair my roof from hail damage. We soon after received a check in the amount of $12,617.51 from ******* Insurance, to which we promptly sent payment to SAL Construction. The contractor, ***** **********, however, has failed to begin or complete the work as agreed upon, despite repeated communications and promises to begin the project. On June 25, 2024, after over a year of delays, I emailed ***** **********, the owner of SAL Construction, requesting an update on when the roof repairs would begin. From that point, we engaged in several weeks of back-and-forth communication. Unfortunately, as of July 24, 2024, Mr. ********** ceased all communication with me entirely. It is important to note that SAL Construction has cashed the insurance check (cleared June 29, 2023). Despite being fully paid for the work, they have yet to begin any repairs, and we are unable to get in touch with the company. I am deeply concerned about the lack of professionalism and the possibility of fraud, given no work has been started on our roof despite payment being made in full over a year ago.

SAL roofing company came to our door stating our roof may need replaced following a derecho storm in the summer of 2020. Roof was completed with payment to SAL from ***** **** using our home owners insurance. First winter following a snowfall, a water line noted along full interior front wall of our home. Contacted SAL and always spoke to ****** *****. Workers were sent out multiple times with the leaks continuing after storms/snow. She always sent out workers with us hoping the leaks would be fixed. They did pay for our interior walls to be repainted at one point. This august a Friday storm caused water to literally fall onto our hardwood floor. Basically dripping and had to use a bucket and tons of towels to keep the hardwood from being ruined. I was unable to get a hold of ***** from SAL. We contacted another roofing company who did an inspection and found multiple issues including caulk that was not in areas that typically are caulked, non roofing caulk, no flashing in areas as well as some areas that were not installed properly. They also left the metal brackets that are used to harness the workers on the roof. We’ve sent ***** from SAL a certified letter of the pics as well as email. We’ve been in touch one time and he reported he would cover another roofing company to perform the repairs and he would pay for these. We have sent him the estimate but have been unable to get in touch with him since. Our roof had a 5 year warranty on the labor

We signed a contract with ***** *****/Sal construction on 7/23/23. We were to have an entire roof removal and replacement by Sal Construction. The entire cost was $18,900. We signed over a check from country Company insurance to ***** ***** in 9/2023. I have a copy of the cleared check deposited by ***** *****s, we have been given the runaround for months about when we will get a roof replacement. The voicemail box is for ***** *****s and Sal construction are full and nobody answers the phone Unless you call to the point of harassment. I called 57 times and finally got someone to answer, he would not give me his name but told me they would be coming on 7/8/24 after supplies were dropped off to replace the roof. That date came and went, two weeks later I had to incessantly call to get someone to answer and they told me to calm down and they are working on getting our supplies delivered, there was a tornado in Morton Illinois that knocked out their phone lines. This was all untrue. I have tried to call at this point hundreds and hundreds of times and have sent emails Nonstop. I got a response last evening via email saying that the supply yard in Peoria Illinois would be dropping off the roofing materials today or tomorrow, another lie. I called 11 different companies in the Peoria and Morton area that would be delivering roofing supplies, and none of them had heard of , my husband, and I and only one out of all of those has ever heard of Sal Construction , but there are no open orders with them. ***** ******* is the owner of ***** *****s And is also the owner of Sal Construction or somehow tied with it and we did not know that. This is a company who has scammed countless people, the only reason we called them is because we knew we needed a new roof and our friends had recommended them. They had a new roof installed 2 1/2 years ago With no issue. Apparently ***** has fallen on hard times or has just decided to scam hundreds of people and we are out $10,800.

Date of Loss June 24, 2023 . Event Number ************ . Claim # ********** . A representative flew a drown over my fathers roof after a hail storm and said he had damage to create a claim with his insurance to get a roof replacement. When my father signed documents, he was told it was to file a claim with his insurance. Sal Construction/ ***** ****** *** , spoke with my father UNTIL they received a full payment from Hartford Insurance to replace the roof. The number provided was 800-549-7180. Once payment was received there was no further contact from this provider nor has my father received a new roof. His insurance company made the check directly to them so they said due to the authorization from my father there is nothing they can do. Sal Construction / ***** ****** told the insurance company they are keeping the entire amount in full and my father will not receive a roof. THIS HAS TO BE ILLEGAL !! They have a very short time before I will file a claim with the state of Illinois and seek legal action.

This company came to my house and assessed we had hail damage. They agreed and mailed me a check for 13,300.85. I filled out the paper work with ***** so they can get a contractor out to me. April 8th 2024- 1150 paid with the 13,300.85. I was told by the owner that they would start work end of April/beginning of May. I have been calling them multiple weeks in a row for months being promised that they would get out there. A month ago I had email correspondence being told that they would try to get a hold of the contractor. Right now there is no communication back. No one is picking up phone and no email back.

On 04/12/2023, An employee of Sal Construction and ***** ****** came knocking at our house soliciting that they help us file a claim on our house insurance. We accepted their offer. A couple months later, our insurance company sent them a check that Sal construction was able to cash out. Until this day, they never came to do the work and their phone number never works. Their office is always closed. There is no way to get in you with them anymore. If they come to your house, do not do any business with them; they are SCAMMERS.

*********** and Sal construction company said they flew a drone over our house, and it had hail damage. They then sat down with us and scammed us into signing a contract with them for repair. Without our knowing the ****** insurance company sent them a check for the first part of the work to be done Totaling 10,671.71. The Owner of those businesses told me that the other check would be sent to them upon completion which is 4,519.87. We never agreed for our insurance company to pay them before work was done. I have also let our insurance company know what's going on. I talked to a former employee of Sal Construction, and he informed me that there is literally a dozen or more complaints that he is aware of. We need our insurance check so our roof can be replaced. To this day nothing has been done on our house. They won't return any calls. This is major consumer deception, scam or theft going on. ****** said the check should have been sent out in our name and ***********-Sal construction. I have all paperwork and phone numbers of people that came to our house to back this up.

Since original complaint was filed, ***** claims has reached out to us and informed us that the supplies for the roofing project will be shipped by end of next week. If this indeed happens which I'm skeptical at this point, we wouldn't want the complaint posted publicly. We will keep BBB updated. Thank you.

We started a roof replacement process with ***** ****** * SAL construction on July 13th 2023. Today is 04/17/2024 and we still don't have a roof completed. The employee we signed paperwork with called me today and said he left the company after he found they were practicing illegal business practices by stalling customers and then running off with their money. I called to confront the business and spoke to an office manager named ***** and emailed a lady named ****. ***** was confrontational and said if they refund my money they will have to subtract their (fees) but didn't say how much that would be. This entire process has been frustrating mainly because the lack of communication and unprofessionalism. We just want a date that our roof will be completed and some reassurance.

    see Attached document

SAL Construction Services came into the neighborhood and claimed to have seen roof damage from a drone. They indicated they worked with ***** **** Insurance and they would complete all paperwork for the roof replacement claim. After ***** **** paid out 3 separate claim checks - they stopped correspondence it goes to a mailbox that says the mailbox is full.

This company agreed to file an insurance claim in our behalf to do house repairs after we had storm damage in September of 2022. Our roofs needs to be replaced. We have damage to our screened in porch. And we have a broken window that needs to be replaced. The company wrote up a quote for the roof. They never contacted a company to repair the window or porch. We eventually contacted the companies who installed the windows and porch to get a bid so that the claim could be submitted. To date, no work has been completed by this company. They are not helping us in any way. We would like help getting out of our contract so that we can move forward with someone else to repair our home.

*** ***** filed his own claim; we never filed a claim on his behalf. The insurance estimate clearly states that he contacted them with a claim on 9/20/2022. He later hired SAL Construction by signing a contract on 10/3/2022. We spoke to *** ***** on November 3rd 2022 & we both agreed that the roofing work would take place in the spring of 2023 due to winter weather. Per the insurance estimate, *** ***** provided the bids for the window replacement & sunroom repair to the insurance company before he hired SAL Construction. Both bids he provided are from other companies that SAL Construction are not affiliated with.  Both the estimates were approved by the insurance company, meaning no additional work (other than the roof) was to be completed by SAL Construction. On 1/17/2023 we offered to help *** ***** contact the companies for the window replacement & the sunroom repair in an effort to get his property back to pre-loss condition, in which he told us he would call us back, and never did. The roof will be scheduled for the first part of Spring 2023 as previously discussed with *** ***** and to date, *** ***** has not paid SAL Construction any money and we have not asked him too.

We respectfully request this complaint be removed as it holds no validity.

     Thankyou,

    ****** ****
