On July 7, 2022, the Federal Trade Commission has taken action against Weber-Stephen Products, LLC, for illegally restricting customers' right to repair their purchased products. The FTC's complaint charges that Weber's warranty included terms that conveyed that the warranty is void if customers use or install third-party parts on the their grills. The matter is pending. As of November 1, 2022, the Federal Trade Commission, and Weber have reached an agreement regarding the warranty provisions. Weber has agreed to revise the provisions of their warranty in which a consumer does not need to use authorized Weber parts to maintain warranty on products unless Weber provides the parts for free under the warranty.
