Now that our house is sold, I wanted to warn people about using Smith Septic. Their prices are very reasonable, but they lack ethics and professionalism. The couple who bought our home used them to do the septic inspection. There were a few reasons we had an issue with this company, but the biggest one was the attitude and threats when we called to discuss the repairs needed for our septic system to pass inspection. If we had recorded the conversation, we could have sewed him. There are other companies out their with reasonable prices that you can use. I definitely would not recommend Smith Septic.

It was unfortunate that your septic system needed a few repairs. The customer who contacted us for the real estate inspection was well aware of our ethics, honesty and timely response for this repair, we have been in business for 61 years. The new owners were very pleased with our work. Our quote was for $750.00 and we charged you $695.00. Many times in these real estate transactions sellers become upset with any type of maintenance needed.Customer Response

As I stated in my review, we did not have an issue with your prices, and I'm sure your work was satisfactory to the new homeowners. However, you damaged property when you did the initial inspection, and Collin obviously has anger management issues. We were not upset about having to do repairs. We just wanted clarification on what absolutely needed to be done in order for our system to pass. Collin was extremely rude to my husband who simply called to ask about the needed repairs. He criticized him for trying to save money by asking about if we had to do the repairs that were not required by code. Trying to save money is not something to be shamed for. There is nothing wrong with trying to save some money, especially in this economy. He even went so far as to threaten to fail our entire system if we did not do all the repairs or if we hired someone else to do them, which is illegal. If we had recorded the conversation, we could have sewed you, but since we have no proof, we decided to give an honest review of our experience with your company. So, like I said in my review, what we had an issie with was your ethics and professionalism.Review from Don and Shellie B

This is the second time we have used Smith Septic and we have been satisfied both times. Both the Craig and Colin took the time to answer questions and made recommendations for improved maintenance of our system. They have been responsive both times. We have used Smith Septic for 9 years. Today after our cleanout, I sent my card info to pay by text. Our bank flagged the transaction as potential fraud. This problem took 10 minutes to fix and we paid in full. While trying to get this corrected, I had to listen to the owner call us names and threaten to come back and dump 1500 gallons of waste in our yard. He said we have been cheating them out of money for years because our tank is bigger than he originally thought. I was shocked. We only paid what they told us to pay. I assumed they know how much to charge for what they do. At the end of the conversation, after he realized our payment did go through, he told me we would have to be a cash only customer from now on. We will never use this company again or recommend them to anyone else. I have never seen a business owner treat a customer or anyone like this.Smith Septic Inc. Response

Thank you for your comment. As the business owner you spoke with and has serviced all of your previous properties. On the last two transactions you requested you did not pay me in a timely manner. Specifically when you paid for your daughters septic pump out you gave me three different credit card numbers that where all declined. I spent several months trying to track you down for a cash payment. I eventually contacted your daughter who made the payment. As a local small business owner for the last sixty years I do not appreciate being played around with when you obviously didn't have the funds to cover the transaction. You stated incorrect information as to what I said, let me refresh your memory. I stated after your credit card was declined again as usual and if I didn't receive cash payment that night I would bring your 1500 gallons of waste back and deposit it back into your 1500 gallon tank. I did state that in the future you can call someone else to perform my services as I would need cash payment before I would ever start work for you.
