Car was repossessed. I paid finance company to release car the next day. Finance company sent forms to release car. *** would not allow me to pick up my car for another 7 days making me pay $30/day storage fee. They were rude.

    Business response

    01/16/2025

    Good Morning,
While the finance company sent over the paperwork it wasn't until 24 hours after the vehicle was repossessed. *** is an appointment only operation to try and better service customers. The schedule was completely booked for the week and you received the earliest available time. I have taken this compliant and will use it to justify weekend staff for future appointments. Unfortunately we will not be issuing a refund as we gave you the first available appointment.

******* ***** states we threw away his belongings and demands a refund.
While it is unfortunate his property was disposed of, we acted in accordance with the law.
    (225 ILCS 422/110)
If personal property is not claimed within 45 days of the notice of intent to dispose, then the licensed repossession agency may dispose of the personal property at its discretion, except that illegal items or contraband shall be surrendered to a law enforcement agency.
Mr. ***** had made many appointments to retrieve his belongings on 10/26/23, 10/30/2023, 11/10/2023, 11/22/2023, and 11/27/2023 and failed to show up for any of them. We complied with all state laws and regulations, and gave Mr. ***** ample opportunities to retrieve his property.

I am rejecting this response because: they did not give me the full ********************* prior to throwing my stuff away.

    Sincerely,

    ******* *****

In regards to rejecting the response, While we understand your frustration we upheld the Illinois state law and held your property longer than required. You missed multiple appointments to retrieve your personal property, and knew the policies and procedures as we repossessed you a year prior as well.

02/28 is the date I was finally allowed to pick up my vehicle, from North West Repossession, in ************, after receiving authorization from *** auto brokers 02/25, after paying past due balance. I immediately arrived at the northwest transport location around noon, on 02/25, only to be informed that i could not pick up my vehicle, because I didn't register

    Business response

    12/31/2024

For this complaint, Northwest Repossession is an appointment based company.

Customer showed up with no appointment and while we try to facilitate walk-ins to the best of our ability we were unable to facilitate that at the time.

He was then afforded the first available appointment on 02/28.

Relocations are the only form of towing that requires the release of the vehicle when the customer is present, no appointment required.
