Employee named Trey came to house and gave estimate of $13,000 to remodel bathroom. He said it needed to be paid for in 4 increments so we gave a $3,000 down payment. Communication was flakey as they wouldn’t respond for days. When they said they could start 5/8/23 we kept asking what time they’d be at the house and they never answered. Found out today (5/7/23) that the phone number is no longer in service, Facebook message wouldn’t send as the page has disappeared, and Google says the business is now permanently closed. No one ever reached out to offer our down payment back. Not even sure how to get in contact with anyone either!

Newburgh Bath Experts LLC (NBE) presented themselves as a licensed contractor able to do the bathroom and kitchen remodel. They estimated the remodel would take 10 days, and agreed to obtain the building permit. NBE did not obtain a building permit. Nor did NBE fulfill the requirements of the contract, walking off the job. According to the Secretary of State, NBE is transacting business as Newburgh Floor & Paint. Additionally, NBE did not have an inspection, nor a licensed plumber or electrician do the work. NBE removed the existing light, twisted the wires together and stuffed the wires up in the ceiling. NBE turned off the water to my existing bath. An employee improperly installed a drain and the plumbing. In the process of installing the new plumbing, the employee broke the existing pipe and also spilled a container of PVC pipe glue. He did not clean up the spill. This toxic stench of the spill displaced me for three days from my home. I notified NBE promptly after my house was inspected by Centerpoint Energy for a gas leak, and NBE denied the spill. Even after I presented NBE with photos, they denied the problem. NBE agreed to be responsible for the hotel expenses incurred, but never reimbursed me. NBE left the job unfinished. The employees said they would be back the next day to finish and clean up the area. They demanded final payment and threatened to contact the police and get lawyers involved. No one from NBE neither returned to my home, nor contacted me as promised. I reported the problem to the Vanderburgh County Commissioner and the owner of NBE was cited for not having a contractor's license. I had to hire licensed plumbers and electricians to correct all the items to code. While NBE said they would pay me for my expenses, and "stand by their work," they did not. I tried mediation, but NBE would not respond. Consequently, I filed a claim against them in Small Claims court in Vanderburgh County and was awarded an entry for judgment.
