I have had my dog groomed and boarded here a few times. Usually they call me when he is done and I never know what time. Sometimes it's a short wait and sometimes it's much later in the afternoon. This time I called beforehand because the appointment was at 8:30 am and I had an eye appointment at 2:00 pm. I asked if it was okay to leave him until I was done and they told me "No problem! We are open until 5:00". When I got there this morning, as soon as we turned down the street and my dog saw the building, he began to whine and shake uncontrollably. I had to pull him out of the car as he refused to get out. When we got inside, I told the girl who waited on us that I have never seen this sort of behavior before. She sat down next to my dog and made excuses "he just wants to hang out with mom all day". When she leaned over to him, he tried to crawl underneath me to get away. She said "He just wants to snuggle". I said "That's not it, he is visibly terrified! He has never acted like this before and I am really concerned about leaving him". He has been to other groomers and never behaved like this. Very concerning! The last time he was groomed, they charged me an additional $15 because they said he was "so matted". I had spent two hours trimming him with scissors and he only needed to be evened out. She then said there would be an additional charge due to "mats on his tail". Not happy but I said okay. Then she said leaving him until 2:30 would cost me an additional $10 because they had to take him outside. I told her I called in advance and no one mentioned an extra charge, she said "It's been our policy for over two years". I said, if that was the case, she should have told me about it when I made the appointment. She continued to make excuses and I just took my dog and left. This type of "bait and switch" where the extra charges are not revealed until after you arrive is an unethical business practice. I will never take my dog here again!
