They did a job for me. Not a single thing was done how I asked, or how it was discussed. They knew they screwed up, but still charged me a premium and wouldn't negotiate. If you're reading this, this company should be avoided.

Deceptive business practices. Our first home claim ever. Complete nightmare. Not only was the process extremely slow!! (Took over 4 months) but there was no warning that one of the insurance payments was not made within a 60 day window and this company automatically placed a lien on our home. No letter, no email, no phone call, nothing. On top of that they tacked on attorney fees and said this was all OUR RESPONSIBILITY to make sure this was taken care. I dont know how anyone could ever resolve an issue without knowing about it. We feel like we were scammed out of money. Terrible service and untrustworthy company. The only thing we made a mistake on was not reading the reviews for this company. We shouldve known better. I dont recommend anyone ever consider this company for help

A **mplete disaster!. On January 10th, Midwest Remediation came to our home to inspect the hardwood floors which flooded while we were away for two weeks. MWR re**mmended remediating our floors using drying mats and blowers for 10-days at an estimated **st of just under $5K. MWR installed the equipment on January 18, 2022, each day beginning on January 19th MWR would take readings of the moisture level to see if the moisture was being reduced by the drying mats. We were out of town beginning January *****rd so Midwest **uld not take the moisture readings. On January 24th, MWR came to our home to take the moisture reading, I was advised the moisture level was still 100%, so I **ntacted the Claims Agent, to seek his advice, the agent suggested having the equipment removed since it was obvious the drying mats were not working, MWR removed the equipment and mats on January 24th. On January 28th I received an invoice from MWR in the amount of $3922.39, which I immediately forwarded to insurance *** believing they would pay for the service. I should also mention MWR sought the cause of the flooding but was unsuccessful. Beginning on February 2nd, I began receiving phone messages from MWR wanting payment for their services, I called MWR, I explained this was an insurance claim and would be paid by the insurance **., I also stated I would **ntact the insurance about the invoice, which I did. The claims agent explained that since we **uld not isolate a cause, the insurance ** **uld not determine the validity of the claim. I suggested perhaps we wait a month or two while we enter Spring rainy season to see if flooding happens again and therefore cause **uld be determined. the claims agent suggested closing the claim and reopening in the Spring, I agreed, (still believing the insurance ** would pay the invoice). I **ntinued receiving calls from MWR for payment. Without warning or notice, MWR filed a lien against our home, we immediately paid.

The customer called our office on January 17, 2022, and we sent out a loss consultant to conduct an inspection immediately. The source of the water affecting the wood floor was not able to be identified and we recommended that the property owner hire a plumber to identify the source of the water intrusion. The customer signed our work authorization to begin drying the wood flooring and we began our remediation work the next morning on January 18. Our work authorization is a contract between our company and the property owner to perform mitigation services. While our authorization does authorize the homeowner's insurance company to pay us directly for the work if in fact a claim is involved, the insurance company is under no requirement to do so. The contract only mentions an insurance company in the form of an assignment for the purpose of direct payment for work completed. The insurance company is in no way a party to the work authorization contract or responsible for payment for services provided. We were asked to remove our equipment on day seven of the dying process, which is typically a **** day process for wood flooring depending on the job site conditions. The customer signed a stop work/hold harmless agreement because they were requesting us to discontinue the mitigation process against our professional advice. In collecting an invoice due, regretfully we sometimes need to file a mechanic's lien to protect our rights to collect the debt. We typically notify the property owner prior to escalating the collection efforts and sincerely apologize if we failed to do so in this case.

Midwest Remediation failed to mention during the moisture test on January 24th, the feedings still indicated 100% moisture, hence the reason for removing the equipment was the opinion of the insurance claims agent. Additionally, we were NOT provided notice that a lien would be filed.

Charged an OUTRAGEOUS amount compared to the competition in the area. *************** hired them on our behalf to board up our garage after it burnt. Will not work with insurance. ***************** even refused to pay them the original total because it was so high. Horrible communication. No type of customer services and rude every time Ive spoke with them on the phone. Highly recommend staying away from this company for any restoration needs.

    Midwest Remediation, Inc. Response

    03/29/2022

There appears to be confusion or misunderstanding as to how approval had been given to board up and secure the property on the night of the fire and the subsequent charges for the services provided. We are in the process of trying to work this out with the customer.
