Unsatisfactory experience with Indiana Geothermal (June 30, 2023)I hired Indiana Geothermal in June 2023 to dig a trench and install a geothermal loop system. While the loop itself seems to be functioning, the overall experience was disappointing.Communication Issues and Damaged Drains:Upfront, I was informed they wouldn't be responsible for unforeseen drain lines. I located and marked three drains (two downspout drains and a perimeter drain) to avoid any issues.During excavation, they successfully avoided cutting the first drain they encountered. This gave me confidence they would handle the others with care. Unfortunately, they ended up cutting the remaining two drains. When I addressed the issue, they assured me they would fix the damaged drains. However, they backfilled the trench before I could verify the repairs.Hidden Problems Emerge:Last summer, the dry weather masked the problem. However, this spring's rainy season revealed the true extent of the issue. It turned out they:Didn't fix the cut drains: They simply buried them, leaving them non-functional.Improperly filled around the untouched drain: The dirt fill caused the drainpipe to sag, impeding proper drainage. These issues lead me to believe they knew they wouldn't fix the drains from the start. Since it was dry weather during the installation, they likely assumed I wouldn't discover the problem until after they were gone.Moving Forward:While the geothermal loop seems operational for now, my confidence in their overall installation quality is low.If you're considering Indiana Geothermal, I strongly recommend:Choosing another company if possible. If you do choose them, maintain close supervision and ensure they address any problems immediately.
