On 3/13/2024, Gear Headz Auto towed a 2005 Grand Cherokee that I am the owner of. I had lent the car to a friend and had no idea that the car had been towed. I was under the impression that my friend still had possession of the car. On 10/7/2024, I received a Mechanics Lien for my 2005 Silver Grand Cherokee, VIN #*****************. I was never notified that the vehicle was towed, not by the police and not by the towing company. The first that I've heard about this was on 10/7/2024. According to Indiana state code 9-22-1-19 says that the towing company/and or police must notify the registered owner within 3 days of towing. They did not do so. If they can send me a Mechanics lien, they knew my name and address but failed to let me know that they had my vehicle and failed to send me an invoice in a timely manner. The storage and tow bill is now $2600. If they had notified me in the time limit that they were supposed to it would have been a more reasonable fee and I would be able to retrieve my car. The Mechanic's Lien said that the vehicle will be disposed of in 30 days from the notice. The lien was filed on 9/20/2024, it took till 10/7/2024 to reach me. I now have just days to either get my vehicle back or have it lost to a towing company that I didn't know even had it. The Mechanics lien did not come via certified mail which is also an Indiana Code. I have never been sent an invoice. I believe that this company just wants to keep and resell my property which is why I was not notified at all and not given time to retrieve what is legally mine. Please assist me in paying a reasonable fee to get my vehicle back. The company that is handling this for Gear Headz is Indiana Lien out of Cicero, IN. ********************************************************************* ************* I do have pictures of the envelope and the Mechanic's lien to prove that it was not sent via certified mail and by admission of their own on the mechanic's lien, they have not talked to the owner, me.

    Business response

    10/17/2024

I have already talked to the owner of this vehicle and explained to him i did not contact him within 72 hours as the vehicle had a police hold on it as the vehicle was used in a crime and that i would work with him on price he asked me to send pics of the vehicle I complied and he never responded after but after a few questions i found out that he has sold it to his friend on payments and he does not have the title to it or any keys I believe the complaintant may have left out some important details in his story and therefore should have this complaint erased on my account promptly thanks
