Our original "new" septic tank was put in in August 2023, and was put in incorrectly and without a permit from the county. It is currently red tagged by county and not recognized as within code. Joe Beard and Sons was made aware in writing and over the phone multiple times about the new system being suspicious and is having water in an area we never did before. I sent photo proof. I have had the health department come view the system AGAIN and they have confirmed we have RAW SEWAGE on our property. I have called, emailed, and texted since August trying to get this handled. When I made my initial complaint and **** came and looked at this, he threw some grass seed down and gave me a really bogus theory about why the water was there, I guess in hopes that grass would just cover the saturated area where the system was clearly failing, unbeknownst to the lay person like myself. Joe Beard and Sons got 15k up front for this system, and failed to put it in properly. I am now paying on a loan, and have for over 6mo on something that's not even working and is a health hazard for my family, and potentially wrecking our indoor plumbing next as the system continues to fail. They have no call showed showed multiple times without any notice or further communication that was not initiated by me. No one has continued to be in contact with me regarding this, I have done all follow up and leg work for months, as shown in my documentation. My neighbors are impacted by the smell and have watched our property degrade since this installation. The health department strictly advised us not to let our children walk or play in this sewage saturated area. I have contacted both **** the manager and the on site foreman for this job. I am currently being given excuses about the ground and weather, when this should have been taken care of months ago.

Back in October I purchased a trailer. I had it moved and I hired Joe Beard and Son as plumbers to hook up my plumbing. After looking at the job once it was done I noticed the piping was on the ground without heat tape. Fearing it would freeze once winter started I contacted them about it. The ENSURED me that the pipes would not freeze because of the type of piping they used. After arguing with them for several mins over it my landlord called and they told him thr same thing. The pipes would not freeze. But after talking to my landlord Joe beard and Son agreed to come out and put heat tape on the pipes! They never did! Currently my pipes ARE frozen! I have had no water for 3 days and I am a single mom with a 6 year old daughter! I have attempted to contact them and I continue to get BS thrown my way. They need to make this right and fix this!

One of the owners came out and pumped her septic and specifically told my son-in-law there would be no charge this time. That was a Saturday the next Monday we get a call from a very cranky woman stating that she needed $400. Within two weeks our septic started bubbling again. We called back they insisted on a card ahead of time. They were going to call back once a gentleman came into the office. They never called back. I finally called back and the appointment she had originally given me for the next day was no longer available. She gave me one over a week out. I then discuss this with my daughter and we decided to go with a different company. In the meantime the lady told me that my card was no good I didn't have the credit available even though I verified with the bank that there was plenty on it and she made me sound like a complete imbecile. 2 to 3 weeks later now we received a call stating that they will be sending an estimate for the fix to my daughters email. That they had been on our property after we had specifically told them that we no longer needed their business or wanted them on our property . Once we had told them we were going with another business there was no need for them to step back on our property and give us an estimate for $2000 that the second company said that there was no need for. I have always respected and loved this company. the first gentleman that we had contact with was amazing but we will never do business with that woman who answers the phone ever again. We did pay the $400 but I am filing this complaint because I do not feel that they should bill me when the gentleman told me specifically that there would be no charge for this service as we have been loyal loyal customers. We have not received a receipt for this transaction even though one was asked for. Any assistance in this regard I would greatly appreciate I love this company. I just wish they would take the trash out.

    Business response

    05/18/2022

Business Response 3/19/2022 After hours call from **** **** located at **** ******* Rd. ********* IN. XXXXX Septic tank was pumped. After hours/weekend pricing for septic pump out at location XXXXX is $484.00 for up to 1000 gallons disposal. ***** called **** on Monday, March 21 with a request for payment on this service. **** provided his credit card number. **** stated he was quoted $400.00 by the technician at the time of service. ***** honored this price. 3/30/2022 Dispatcher ***** spoke with ******** ****** at 8:39 am, **** ******* mother-in-law. ******** requested to speak to ***** and find out what was discussed between **** and ***** regarding the septic tank problems. ******** informs the drains are bubbling and when the toilet is flushed it is bubbling. ******** was emotional on the phone with dispatcher ***** and stated she did not have money for repairs as this is her home not ****'s and she never had these types of problems with the septic system prior to ***** her daughter, and **** moving into her home with the grandchildren. ******** informed she is on a fixed income and currently paying all the household bills, increase in water usage from laundry and showers, is not helping the septic problem. ******** informed ***** $400.00 for septic services should have solved the problem and it is not fixed. ***** explained the purpose of a septic pump out to ******** and helped her better understand the service. ******** requested another septic pump out, and for the tank to have a camera ran. ***** informed the price for a septic pump during business hours is $242.00 and the cost of a technician to come out and run a camera would be $125.00 and 50.00 for the camera. ******** asked if there was, anyway, they could get a deal, and further informed **** had lost his job and just began working again. ******** stated this was due to her grandchild needing open heart surgery and him missing too many days of work. ***** informed ******** unfortunately that is the price, but she is welcome to call around and try to find someone that could lower costs for her. ******** informed she would call ***** back and provide a credit card to schedule the appointment. ******** advised if **** called in to the company and were to provide a credit card not to take it as he does not have the money and it would not go through, to wait for her to call back with the credit card. 3/30/2022 **** **** called to discuss septic concerns and informed he was not happy due to paying $400.00 and still having problems. ***** explained the purpose of a septic tank pump to ****, and how it does not fix an ongoing issue with the system. This service empties the septic tank getting rid of solids and wastes. If the septic system needs repairs the tank will continue to fill back up until the septic system is repaired. **** informed he was working and could not manage the problem and said he would call back to schedule with a credit card. 3/30/2022 ******** contacts dispatcher ***** regarding a septic pump out and provides a credit card to schedule the pumping of the tank, and wanted to add to that service a technician run a camera. ***** took the credit card information and scheduled the septic pump out for 4/08/2022, and on 4/05/2022 an 811 was called in by dispatcher ***** to ensure safe digging in the event immediate digging services were needed for the septic repair. 4/08/2022 A technician went to the home and pumped the tank. The technician contacted **** with Joe Beard and Sons to inform him that the field bed was rushing back into the tank and an estimate was provided jet the field bed. In lieu of this discovery the drain cleaner did not go out on a service call. There was no charge for the estimate. The total of the invoice for septic pump out was $242.00. The credit card given by ******** ****** was invalid and ******** has a past due invoice of $242.00 4/22/2022 ******** ****** called ***** and was upset over the bill received from Joe Beard and Sons. The concerns summarized by dispatcher ***** during the conversation with ******** and her daughter **** **** are as follows: They paid $400.00 for a weekend service call and continue to have septic related problems. ******** stated she did not set an appointment for a septic pump out and did not want Joe Beard and Sons back on their property. ******** said on 3/30/2022 she spoke to another lady in the office, not ***** and said the credit card was not going through and requested another credit card. ******** said she is done dealing with that woman. **** then spoke with ***** and said she spoke with **** at work, and he did receive an estimate. **** informed she had ************ look at the septic system and they informed her they no longer had a problem. **** helped summarize the concerns she and her mother have with saying the lady her mother spoke to made ******** feel 2 feet tall because the credit card was not going through. ***** asked for clear/ dates and details to better help with understanding of the problem as the tank was pumped on 4/08/2022 and the estimate was not a bill but an amount to fix their septic problems. 4/22/2022 **** restated ******** called back into Joe Beard and Sons and asked to be taken off the schedule. Dispatcher did not have a call log or record of that conversation and informed **** of the same as it would not have been a problem to cancel the appointment. **** then clarified it was 3/31/2022 as ******** called Joe Beard and Sons, she knew it was this date because it was after ******** had come out to run a camera. **** then suggested the technician may not have completed the service and sending a bill for services they did not receive. **** informed her mother is always home and the dogs, "would have gone crazy." **** suggested their tank was not pumped. ***** pulled the photos from 4/8/2022 and viewed them with **** on the phone. The photos confirm it was full on the 8th and pumped out by Joe Beard and Sons and disposed of. **** informed they were not given any paperwork for the septic pump out on the 8th of April but on 4/21/2022 they found a pink/yellow slip in the door. ***** asked to verify the credit card given to dispatch on 3/30/2022 and **** informed the bank shredded that card and confirmed ******** did give the card to make the appointment for a septic pump out. ***** explained a thorough review of the call history and messages would be gone through and follow up with either **** or ******** once completed. ***** asked if their septic tank was in working condition since the pump out on the 8th and **** replied, "yes" and quickly stated however, the septic pump was cancelled after ******** came out and fixed the problem. ***** asked if ******** did the repairs to the septic and she replied yes, after they ran the camera. ***** asked **** if ******** came out after the septic pump out on the 8th of April and she said yes. ***** asked **** if ******** explained to run a camera the septic tank would need to be pumped and **** responded no they did not tell her that. ***** informed **** when a septic tank is full, to get a clear idea with a camera they always must pump the tank and that is why the pump was scheduled first. ***** has reviewed the call history and has not had a message to cancel the service from 4/8/2022 and pictures were taken at the time of service that show the septic tank was full to the top, and the second picture shows it pumped out. The service was completed, and ***** did inform **** of the pictures observed. That is why there is a bill for the septic pump out service for $242.00. **** informed the estimate they receive from Joe Beard and Sons is for repairing the septic problem and ***** informed that is correct. No other conversation has occurred since nonpayment for services on 4/8/2022. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Starting out in the first paragraph they said that **** said that the man that came out quoted him $400. That is not true the man that came out said he was not going to charge at this time when the lady called back what **** did say Is that the gentleman that came out said that there would be no charge however the person who scheduled it said we could be charged up to $400. It is also interesting that the person who is investigating this problem is the person who we had the problem with. Mini words were misconstrued and were taken severely out of context. We did not cancel the appointment after ***** *** came out. We told her that we were going to have someone else come out as she stated that our card was not valid however because of the people we are we did call back and cancel that appointment. We have the call history on the phone. It is unfortunate that this good company is being ran like this. My expectations at this point would be for anybody other than the person or persons we had problems with to please review the phone calls with an honest heart. With that the truth will come out. Then you will find the type of person that works there. I do not like when my words are twisted I am sure that she would not like it if I twisted her words that is why I'm trying to be truthful and honest the entire time. Their response makes me very sad. Sad for the company and sad for this world. Sad the people like this can be in positions like this. She even stated in her message that she would contact us back and the last note that she puts in there is that she or the company has had no contact with us. This is sad it makes my heart hurt Business Response ***** *'**** called ******** today at 11:47 a.m. ***** told ********* "What we can do is not charge for the last service of $242.00" ******** replied, "Alright, we appreciate that. Thank you." Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) Although it is not exactly what we were asking for at least it is over with and we do not have to deal with them again!
