The online system told me my subscription would expire, but then they kept charging me anyway. I finally managed to get them to cancel my subscription (which was an ordeal; you can't cancel online, even if you signed up online, the phone has limited business hours, the subscriber support email address bounces.)They sent me another bill for this month, despite having cancelled months ago.Review from Juduth G

I am an online subscriber of the South Bend Tribune. A friend of mine called me today asking if I had read todays obituaries. I said no as there werent any obituaries in todays edition. She then informed me they were in the printed edition on page B8. My online page B8 is an ad for the ********** I called the *************************** at ***-***-6464 and chose option 1 for new service as they answer the fastest. I spoke to a lady named April and explained what happened. She verified my experience was correct but COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY!! I told her that I have been a subscriber for all of my adult life but now I am disappointed and TOTALLY DISILLUSIONED with the South Bend Tribune. I also said I wanted to cancel my existing subscription and get a refund for the balance. I asked her how am I supposed to know if this had happened before, or might happen again in the future? She said she will research into it what happened and I would have an emailed response in 24 hours (which I DO NOT believe) and offered me a 2 week free extension of my subscription. I just want to let the general public know that in addition to our Award Winning Newspaper having decreased in pages, sections being combined over the years, approximately 1/2 of the current pages are mostly advertising, and the price of subscriptions has risen outrageously over the years, we really have NO WAY OF KNOWING what we may be missing. I actually know 3 different subscribers of the printed edition, they all pay yearly, and each of them pay different prices: one pays over $100, another pays over $200, and the third pays over $300. How is this possible???I would never have thought that the prices could be so different, or that there would be a difference between the printed and the online editions, IT SHOULD HE THE EXACT SAME PRODUCT!!!In the end I did accept her offer but I just want to inform the general public of what I experienced and I will seriously reconsider renewing my subscription.South Bend Tribune Corp. I looked at the papers from August 19 through August 29 and do not see any difference between the printed version and the online version. Please tell me which days paper the discrepancy was found. The price from an online edition will be lower as there are no paper, ink, labor, or transportation costs involved in the production and distribution of the product. The printed version will have different prices depending on if the customer subscribed using a promotion or was paying in advance to preserve the rate they were getting when up for renewal. This is all controlled by our corporate entity and we can't adjust pricing at the local office. A customer that is paying a high rate can call the *************************** and tell them they want to cancel and will likely be offered a lower rate to retain the subscription.Review from Roberta D

i have been subscribing to the Tribune for daily delivery since 1986 at my current address. Since April of 2024 I have had repeated issues with not receiving my newspaper. Each time I have called the automated service to report the missing paper. The answers given are not necessarily what actually happens. For example, if I opt for delivery with next day delivery, that sometimes happens, sometimes not. If you call and go through billing to actually speak to a person, they give you answers that sound really good as to how they will investigate, how concerned they are because you are a long-time customer, they promise to have someone call you, and none of it happens. As a subscriber, you are required to pay IN ADVANCE for this newspaper, and you have no recourse if they don't deliver the product. If you get to speak to a human, they are generally located in ***********, not South Bend, (I know, since I have called 4 times over the last 7 days) and of course they cannot give you the phone number of a local manager, nor is your carrier providing you with their contact info. Most recently, I did not receive a paper 4 days in a row, called the automated service each time to report missing delivery, finally got through to the billing department, was promised initially that the missing papers would be delivered, when they weren't I called again and was told those papers were no longer available, I was told they were working on the problem of no carrier, would have the district manager would call me, never happened, and on a subsequent call, I was told that there was no record of the phone number in their notes to call me, not true, I gave them a cell # to contact me. All these lies are absolutely not acceptable. During this debacle, I received a renewal notice and wrote the check, put it in the mail to them, which I now regret. ******* and their out of country call service is bilking customers. They have denied they are resorting to **** mail delivery. Lies, Lies, Lies!!!Review from Fred S

Im really tired of not getting my paper which has been paid for in advance. Then not being able to reach a person to see what is going on, only to get a very selective recording.Review from Gregory K.

Received my renewal notice one week before it was due, paid it, and didn't receive my next paper! I called, got a oops my bad response and a promise to correct it. Long story short, 4 weeks later still not fixed. When I called to cancel, I was given the run around again and told it would take 4-5 weeks to get my refund. Guess what, 5 weeks later and still no refund and still the same old run around.Review from Christine G.

Speaking the the Tribune via email I was informed that a yearly subscription for the e-edition of the paper would be $59.99. So I had to call the office to subscribe to this (I was told I could not do this via email) I was told the cost would be $95.88. I told them about the email and he proceeded to tell me something (which I could not understand) so I said no thanks. Now I look at my bank record and find that they went ahead and charged me the $95.88 for a year. Calling them again on this I was told that this was only for new customers and I was not allowed to have this so I wanted to cancel and I was told I could not; I would have to wait until my subscription ended and then I could cancel. I could not get any refund at all.Review from Carolyn M

The number listed for the *** customer service center is useless. The recorded choices from which a caller must choose do not provide an option for a caller wishing to make a simple change in one's subscription: cancel the special editions which increase the cost of the subscription. This is despite the direction provided in a letter received from the *** to call their customer service center to make such a change. There is no option to speak to a customer representative. I sent an e-mail with my request and HOPE that provides some response.Review from Dale F

Im sorry I could give one star. They deserve zero. Since January 2nd we do not receive the paper 1/3 of the time. There is no way to talk to areal person. The latest trick is to say your paper is delayed until 11:00 a.m. once eleven rolls around Id you call back they say sorry but due to circumstances beyond our control no paper will be delivered. Now they have removed Saturday delivery. Same price for 1,7th of the service. Shouldnt we get a 14% reduction?Need to see a copy of terms and conditions for subscriptions to see if a class action suit needs to be filed. They love to say they filed FOIA request for news. Can we not do the same?Review from Beth B

I have been taking the tribune for 50+ yrs. In the last month, it has been almost none existent. I have texted, called, sent emails to try and resolve this issue and I think they just plain dont care about people reading their paper. A customer service lady called after one of my notes and said I would have to buy the paper at the store or cancel my subscription because they dont have anyone to deliver to my area. I said you win I will take the e edition. Well, that didnt work either. Yesterday I get Sunday, Monday and Tuesday papers. Almost fell over. On Monday I talked to **** and was told for 29$ I could get e edition for a year. Well, you guessed it that didnt work either. They all tell me they are making it a priority and nothing happens. Someone will call me (and get nasty with me) or tell me I will be able to get the e edition tomorrow. Tomorrow never comes. Im owed a 38$ refund per **** for the actual paper delivery and now I have paid 29$ for a years e edition. Havent been able to get that either. What is a person to do to get the local news? Its a joke by now. 9
