Level Up Remodeling LLC guaranteed to build the addition on our house. The work that was completed did not satisfy code requirements after a third inspection. These code issues were overlooked by the inspectors two times. Since then Level Up Remodeling LLC has made two attempts to follow through with the job, once after being away from our job for approximately 4 months and again after about 6 months. We declined allowing Level Up Remodeling LLC's request to complete the addition due to being away from the job for too long. We paid over $90k to get the addition completed and only the rough in got mostly completed except for the infractions. The remainder of the job was never completed by Level Up Remodeling LLC. Three attempts were made to contact Level Up Remodeling LLC via the owners phone number which has been disconnected or is no longer in service. The other two attempts were via previous employees. I expect a refund for the portion that was left incomplete.

We entered into a contract with Level Up LLC in September of 2022. The contract was for $17,000 to demo our half finished basement and for framing, drywall, flooring, paint, and reinstallation of existing kitchen cabinets of basement remodel. The projected duration of the project was one month (half of the basement is already framed and drywalled so in my mind, I allotted for two months for completion. One third of the cost was provided upon entering contract, one third at start, and one third at completion. We have paid a total of $12,000. Upon initiation of the project, work was only being done on Saturday and Sunday. We were told people would show up during the week, but rarely did that happen. After the subcontractor told us he didn't get paid for one weekend of work, we were unable to get in contact with the general contractor and owner of the company, ****** ********. We paid the subcontractor to come one more weekend to finish the majority of demolition. Once we needed materials, we were unable to get a hold of ******. At one point, he went to Lowe's and sent us a picture of materials but told us his credit card got declined. He told us he spent our money elsewhere. At best they did $4,000 (5 if I am being super duper generous) dollars worth of demo and removed the majority of demoed materials, but even it did not get completed. They did not finish removing bathroom floor and kitchen flooring. We never received materials and no one has been at our house in over two months to finish the job. We are now out several thousand dollars and have to look at other companies, our house is in disarray, and we are paying monthly for a storage pod for the furniture. We later found out that his LLC was not renewed (despite him signing a contract) and his BBB rating was revoked about the time we hired him.

We hired Level Up remodeling March 2022 and we agreed to a Bid of 15,000.00 for remodeling. From the beginning of the project we had nothing but issues. He was late every day and not just 15-20 minutes, it was usually an hour after the agreed upon start time. We made a down payment of $5000 and the demo of the project was started. Part of the project was to raise the dinning room floor to make it level with the rest of the house which he had to redo a couple of time because he could not get it level. He was a no call no show on 5 different occasions and his reason was that he was having personal problems and could not get any one to work. He ordered some materials to do the kitchen wall and backsplash so we gave him another $5000. He had to stop coming to work because his truck stop working. By this time he is only about 30% done with the project and still had to redo the floor. At this time he was working alone and not getting much done because he had to leave early due to his personal issue with is wife. We finally had to ask him not to come back. He is unprofessional, his work is not what you would expect of someone who has a business and represents hisself at local home improvement shows.

A year and a half ago, we contracted with Mr. ****** ******** to get started on a room addition and remodeling the rest of our home for $50,000. Little did we know this would turn into a big headache for us. First of all, he started to build the addition room without actually getting a permit. He repeatedly told us he had everything under control and that he had the permit, but he did not follow through. We did not know he lied to us until it was too late, when we started to do research on him after he left our job. In the first couple of days, everything seemed to be good and he was very responsive. However, after a month he was doing very fast work and his crew kept leaving or did not do much on the job. This is when the problems began. Now, the addition room has developed cracks in the drywall and doors do not shut, as well the outside is unfinished. He told us he would come back to fix these mistakes but now he is not showing up. In fact, he did not finish most of the work on the contract, which he promised and wrote down to do. In the kitchen, he installed a broken countertop, coming back several times to replace it but still could not fix it. Instead he installed another broken countertop. The kitchen is still unfinished. Because of this, it has been a struggle to use our kitchen, The broken countertop leads to mold in the cabinets. I just want him to come back and fix everything properly. The windows have been broken for more than a year. He has come back to take extra money to install three beams in the house but no beams have been installed. They still haven't touched the living room, where there is lots of work to still do. I hope that he will come back and finish the work. If he does not want to do that, please just return the money for the unfinished portions. He must get a permit most importantly. It has almost been two years now that we are dealing with this. We have been very patient in dealing with his promises but now we can't wait anymore for him.

I started working with ****** ******** from Level Up Remodeling 8 months ago. The job entailed about 6 major projects (fence, bookshelf, bathroom, built in bench, wall/closet addition, gym). After months of nothing really getting done at all, he started asking for more money. I didn't think much of it. More money kept being asked for. Sometimes it was for labor costs. Sometimes it was for materials. We sat down one day and did final picks of all the bathroom materials (facets, shower heads, tub, etc.). It added up to about $5K. I wrote him a check for this. At the time I did this, I thought we already had bought these things. A few days later he asked for more money. Keep in mind, nothing was done. We had a partially completed fence, and a partially completed new wall/closet. Re: the project as a whole, we were about 15% done. Max. I finally did what I regret not doing earlier, accounting. I had paid him almost $40K and nothing was done. I had a heart-to-heart with him to try and get to the bottom of what's up. He blamed it all on his bad help and lack of support. I told him I couldn't pay him anymore money until at least 1 project was to a point of completion. I made him aware that more transparency was needed on the financing side. This is when things spiraled. It was almost as if his scam was no longer possible so he started concentrating on other customers. One lie after another cost me months of chasing him around. He told me the bathroom stuff I bought was at his parents. I asked to see it. He then told me an employee broke it. Yada Yada yada. All lies. Ultimately, he admitted he never bought any of it and the money was gone. I'm now $40K poorer, with a partially done closet and an incomplete fence. He committed fraud through gross misappropriation of money. In a perfect world, I'd get all my money back. But life is not perfect. So I'll settle for the money I gave him to buy my bathroom materials. And for him to finish the 2 incomplete jobs.

    Business response

In July 2021 I went on a show made by *** ******* to help small businesses become successful entrepreneurs. I saw him as this great businessman whom I wanted to learn from and be like,  since he owns multiple businesses and is so successful. Which I also paid $2500 to be a part of because I believed in it so much.   After filming I was asked to come work on his house.  Those projects he listed, I had originally totaled to roughly $82k labor ONLY, no materials included and sent multiple invoices to him through quick books. I have proof if need be. Then I was told it was way too high and to re-do the numbers, so I came up with a 2nd quote for $57,800 labor ONLY which I also have proof. I decided to go so much lower because in turn he said he'd help showcase my work to his friends who were of his "status." He said he was ok with this number and with him going out of town I told him I wouldn't start his job until I finished the current job I was on.  He was fine with that,  and wrote a $10k check that would be ready when I was to start. Once I began I used all of that money on materials, which I still have receipts for. As stated in complaint, that I kept asking for money,  it was for materials which again were NOT included. Mind you, That fence that isn't done,  was $8k in materials and I only charged $6500 for labor, how does that even make sense? So I ended up being micro managed, paying my guys out of my pocket, and constantly being talked down to because he thinks he's better due to his success and start status. As a man and a business owner, I was tired of being treated awful, run ragged, overworked and extremely underpaid.  At times to try to get what he wanted, he would pretend to be my buddy and act like my friend. As soon as things didn't go his way he threatened me,  demeaned me and treated me like crap.  Demanding that I give him my keys to my truck, I stay at his house overnight away from my family, dictate when I would eat lunch,  dinner etc. Until I finished the job. Also demanding no more of my workers come to the house because he felt they weren't a "good fit"and didn't want people to be "star struck" and know where he lived. In reality that was another way to get out of paying more money for labor. His method of "accounting" was going in and slicing my quotes in half to numbers of his liking,  not what was actually fair. Then creating his own contract which INCLUDED materials for $40k. Now it makes sense why a big business man never signed my contract,  so he could get over on me. I never got over on anyone and that $40k claimed to have lost,  compared to my $57,800 NO MATERIALS quote seems like I'm the one with the big loss. That $40k never went into my pockets it went to materials and my workers.  I was barely able to keep a roof over my families head.  Also as stated before $57,800 was supposed to be LABOR ONLY. So that's where I messed up was not having *** sign my contract,  and I also got tired of being treated horribly and talked down to.  I did not scam anyone and with material costs sky-high and alot of things were on back order might I add. I'm not going to have someone sit down and dictate how much I charge for this and draw lines through my invoices because they don't like it and not sign AFTER being hired.  Furthermore,  my fiance at the time who does not work for my company and never met ***, was somehow contacted by *** and tried to talk bad about me to her, I believe that's defamation of character. I never wanted things to be this way,  but *** made me feel horrible about myself and constantly threatened me if things weren't going exactly his way.  I tried to reach out to him multiple times and he disregarded me and now I have a complaint on here wanting me to finish,  which as I've told him before I will only do if a contract is signed and in place and he refused. Another thing I'd like to add, since We believed I owed all of this money,  he decided to keep $5k of my heavy duty day to day construction tools that help me make a living.  Being a small business owner thats another huge hit for me from this successful man. I did have those materials, but when communication was cut off and my tools were kept,  I decided to return those materials. I don't appreciate being called a scammer, especially from someone who had me write up a fake invoice to give to his realtor for the homeowners so he wouldn't have to pay for inspection repairs on house he bought. Again I tried to reach out and work things out, but I will not work for free anymore.  I will be including screenshots of all proof I have against this matter. At this time I feel working together is not an option due to past experiences.
