I called the office and told the woman I need a prescription for contact lens. She made me an appointment for May 14th, 2024 at 10am. At the appointment *** **** told me I also was due for a retinopathy exam. I told him, “All I want is a prescription for contact lens.” Ignoring my request, he went ahead and did the retina exam. I never received the contact lens prescription. I didn’t receive any prescription for anything. *** **** turned all of the exams into my Medicare. Medicare allows us to have eye exams once a year, since *** **** completed my eye exam, I can't go to an eye doctor through Medicare until next year! He billed Medicare for $230 and I had to pay $84 out of my pocket! He, nor his staff didn’t tell me I was out of network so I was billed more. Not only that- he shared confidential information about me which is illegal. I need that money ($314) refunded to me so I can see a legitimate eye doctor.

The note that we sent to the Johnson County District Attorney is attached. The same solutions outlined in that letter are still available to her today. To this day we do not know if the contacts she was fit in ever worked. She has never complained about them to my knowledge but the dust up occurred because she did not want to come back a week later to verify that the contacts were indeed fitting on her eye well and that she was seeing well. All this fuss over a visit that would have taken maybe about ten minutes. It was not even a visit that she would have incurred any additional charge as that is part of the fitting fee.

She is not correct in that she can only get one exam through Medicare. Although not practical, she technically can get one every single day. They do only pay for one refraction per calendar year with her advantage program. There is no limit to exams through Medicare as long as there is a medically necessary reason to do one. She has every single piece of insurance in place and available to her today that she had available to her on the day she showed up in our office.

The rest is detailed in the letter that went to the Johnson County District Attorney's office. I assume she must have lost that battle which is why she has now incorporated the Better Business Bureau for the wrongs she feels she has suffered.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: I asked for a contact lens prescription specifically. He was not authorized to do anything else.

    Sincerely,
